"Catharsis" is the latest movie of
the Greek Cult director, Fokion Bogris. The movie is a mafia action flick that draws
upon the cult movie directors’ pantheon of the 80’s-90’s nevertheless it is
presented with an up to date and unique outlook.
CygnosiC music score for "Catharsis" attempts
to reach consistency with the aesthetics and plot of the movie. Yet numerous
references and elements of the CygnosiC distinctive sound are evident thus
creating a mixture of echoing ideas that rotate indiscriminately between the scenes.
The composition of the soundtrack could very well fit under the term of transcendence
since the nature of the task was novel and quite unfamiliar. Therefore its successful
completion could be considered as nothing less than profound satisfaction.
The official premiere of "Catharsis"
is due on the 17th of September 2009 during the 15th Athens International
Film Festival.
I sincerely hope you will enjoy it
once it comes to a cinema near you or alternatively, once it is released in DVD
stores. Also I would like to wish to the director and personal friend Fokion Bogris good luck on his film.
Below is the movie trailer, do not
forget to turn the English subtitles on.
About the movie: "An ex cop arrives in Athens
after the murder of his wife. Approached by the chief of police, he reluctantly
agrees to help take down a mafia ring. Thus begins a circle of blood that
becomes more and more violent as the hero goes deeper into the case. When he is
asked to abandon his mission, he refuses; nothing seems able to stop the
violent outburst of a man desperately looking for catharsis"

Cygnosic is a Greek solo-project operating from Athens. A first album “In The Lag Of Time” was self-released in 2007, but here comes the official debut of this promising project. “A Deity In Pain” brings a punching electro album full dark elements reminding to early Klinik and the debut of In Strict Confidence. Some of the songs will maybe appeal fans of decoded Feedback as well. But more than being a simple clone, Cygnosic excels in very own ideas and constellations. The music sounds mature, powerful and is spiced up with some background technoid elements. The vocals of Georg Psaroudakis are spooky and distorted creating a cold sensation. The vocals aren’t however the main ingredient on this album. Several cuts are instrumentals where cool and efficient samplings take the main part. “A Deity In Pain” is a danceable opus with not one single song to throw away. Cygnosic reveals an unusual maturity in sound and song writing resulting in an impressive arsenal of essential songs. From the tracklist featuring 11 songs I’ll mention “Throw Away My Dust”, “Neva55”, “One O Two”, “As Far As We Can Go”, “In The Lag Of Time”, “Luna Obscura” and especially its “Chaotic Mix”, “To Spread The Chaos” and finally “Zero Tolerance”. This is an amount of 9 (!) songs, which simply confirms the high potential of this album. Cygnosic doesn’t compose the most cliché-like dark electronic or the most accessible sound in its style, but it’s definitely a great piece of art! (DP:8/9)DP.

I will try to update it and improve it as often as I can. also, material for a new album is really very close to an end, and hopefully everything will be as planned. note that (almost) all songs that were on the musicplayer have been replaced by their new versions

+ song in the sampler
