Today's a big day...we sent our new EP "If We Dare Win" off to be pressed on beautful 12" vinyl! Very exciting for us, as it is our first. We haven't scheduled an official release date as of yet, but if all goes well, we'll have some in hand for a string of West Coast dates that we have coming up in April. The record will also be available in digital format, details to follow as we get closer. In the mean time, go have a listen to the lead track, "Chain Reaction"!

It's been a little while, aye? Well I'm happy to report on quite a few developments since we last spoke...


So first off, we put a new track up on the player. Karma King was recorded during our sessions with Andrew Lynch over at the Ship back in October, just before Shannon and Anthony took off to New York. The song will see a proper release soon, but in the mean time have a listen. It turned out great!


Prompted by our friends’ recent departure, we’ve added a few new Amateurs to the family. Introducing… Ryan George on bass, Tony Nichols on trumpet, and J.R. Sage on pedal steel. Just when you thought you had us pegged, right? Well, in case you’re wondering, it sounds amazing! These guys bring a lot to the table and we can’t wait to share with you. Scott Schultz of the LA Record took some great photos last Tuesday of our first show together. Check ‘em out in our Live gallery when you get a sec.


And if you’re not busy on January 19th, you can come and see for yourself! We’ll be playing the Echo as part of Robert Francis’ Monday night residency.

Alright folks, a few things to report…

First off, be sure to tune in to www.killradio.org tomorrow at noon for the …IS GOOD w/ Jon Hershfield show. Keith Amateur will be in for an interview and acoustic set.

Also, you can catch Amateurs at Spaceland this Thursday, May 22nd. We'll be helping Les Blanks celebrate the release of their new record- Shoot the Horse, along with our pals The Monolators and Correatown. We've been hard at work writing a record of our own, so we can attest to the fact that a celebration is in order once you get that sucker packaged and ready for release. More on that later, but we will be unveiling some new tunes for those of you who make it out to the show.

Lastly, Keith will be making his UK debut next month, with two shows in London-

June 18th @ The Sheepwalk
June 22nd @ Boogaloo

I put up a new track on the player. Its  a Townes Van Zandt cover that I’ve been doing a lot lately around town. I don’t know a lot of his stuff, but this one really gets to me. I think its the utter desparation of the words alone--written by a lonely drunk and meant to be played by a lonely drunk. Last night when I was tracking it, it took a couple beers and a half bottle of wine before it felt right. Enjoy.
