So I just now heard some guy behind me talking.. first thing that caught my ear was "she has skinny ankles..." and that's when I was glad my back was to him because my face was one big cheese grin. Then I heard him say "A work-out session". Session? phsh!.. stole the word right out of my head.
The guys and I have came together a few times to really get a solid sound down for our songs.. recording is in the midst! We'll be recording an album through out December. This will be the first project that includes the Magnolias! Joey Thieman (Dayton, Ohio native) will show his skills on accordion through the album, Jose Oreta (Ashland, Kentucky native), as always will be gettin kickin' some sweet grooves tied in with the rhythm that Andrew Gillum  (from Ashland, Kentucky) will be slidin' out. Also the album will present an almost brand new style for the writing that I've been creating here recently. There's a more Alternative- Blues Roots sound instead of a Patsy/Blues kind of Americana feel going. I am enjoying the branching out that life has given me opportunities for in this year! Traveling, Meeting and Learning a little bit more of what makes me tick on the clock of thousands of people. Those are all the things that have been inspiring me the past months.

Mmmm! Ain't life good.

Picking Seashells at Todd's Point, Connecticut.

Not sure about the name for the album, but that is always a very fun part of any project. What's in a name you say?? Everything. Just look at Wilco's new album, Wilco (The Album). See what I mean? Glad you agree.

Tonight we'll be playing at one of my favorite venues.. The Empty Glass in Charleston WV. We're sharing the bill with Bud Carroll and the Southern Souls.. they're having their CD Release Party!! (and the crowd goes wild)! Come on out... I invite you B)

Places I suggest seeing for both you and myself in the next few years....

-A hard rock show where they serve cheap beer and people are smashed together... i recommend doing this before your bones get brittle. Trust me.
-Gatlinburg, Tennessee during the second weekend of December.
-A habatchi grill
-A YMCA summer camp (I don't care how old you are)
-A Halloween Costume party so you can figure out what your fear is.. Clowns? Pirates? Creeps? Girls dressed as your pappaws dreamy mammaw.. yeah, their allllll there.
-I also suggest going to a show where everyone dances including you!

Now to places that I haven't seen that I think we could both benefit from:

-Indy 500

Coming Home, Coming Home.

So many awesome things about coming home.... food, beds, sleeping in, and sharing allll the tales. James and I played at over fourteen shows, all around the east coast, from opening for a heavy metal band, to playing for a sunday morning kingsport church service, we had a blast meeting lots of cool people along the way. We also had the great privilage to spend about three nights in the Shenandoah National Park. I took a lot of pictures of my shoes there. Reason being? Well I just enjoyed where I was at in the current moment, so I decided to document it. You should try it.
  What did we see?
*Washington, DC's memorials
*Washington's Chinatown
*Baltimore football game
*Scruff McGruff the Drug dog took a pic with us in Baltimore
*Watched a Blues Festival in Greenbelt Maryland night before we played... check out a red headed blues boy named ANDY PAXON... he's the next inspiration for the masses.
*Lots of parking lots we called home for the night... from Virginia all the way to North Carolina
*Sabra's dog Porter swimming in the New River in Eggleston, Virginia
*We pulled into a mans driveway to ask directions to the Palisades Restaurant... His name was tony and when we pulled in the was setting at the trough petting his cows (awesome)
*Hippies making jewelry
*I'm so sorry but, we seen those nasty krispy kremes cruising all around the store on those grease machines.... ek, might as well of been chicken grease with three bags of sugar in it... but... they ... taste.... so .... good.........
*flys on the fruit
*Big homegrown sunflowers at the Farmers Market
*Ducks
*some of the most interesting bathrooms ever... whether it be nasty, artsy, out dated... fully hands free lol we've seen them all..... EVEN womens urinals.... I can't really remember where that was, but I just know that James was very shocked lol (yes, i said it was urgent that james come into the bathroom... there was something he HAD to see.... cause he had to. Remember, Knowledge is power lol)
*Mental images of Paul (fan at the acoustic coffeehouse) in Jamaica... very funny.
*We seen just how unnerved crazy soccer moms can get when they tell you to turn left and you do... but you make a left way too soon and your in a one way street... I'll agree that it was my subconcious form of revenge on her and her vocal agressive ways. BUT i do appreciate hospitality. Dont get me wrong.
*outdoor carpet on the inside
*young lovers dance to gram parsons' "a song for you". They really were in love, no questions asked
*a bunny hopping freely in the house at the same time the cat was roaming freely through the house... it was strange, but they were friends (can't we all just get along?)
*how great it can be to make new friends and come to love and understand the generousity of strangers
*how great it feels to leave, and how incredible it feels to come back.

I absolutely loved Virginia- there's so much beauty so many good people there. Kentucky is most definitely my first love, but as for now, Virginia trails close!

What Now?

Well James is going to be INCREDIBLY busy with his next two years... he's going to be working on the campaign trail with Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Gatewood Galbraith. Crazy stuff!
As for me, I'm going to bed down in Olive Hill for the winter most likely. I know there's been immmmmense rumours of my leaving for Nashville TN... and I had been thinking of moving there, or maybe to california or even to some other random place I think I'd enjoy but with the way I think, I've lots of time to go everywhere and live where ever I think seems like a wise idea. So I figure I'll finish up my stock of firewood for the winter (I love my little house) and Joey and I have some lovely plans for June....... more on that still to come- I think you're going to be extremely excited!! So we're going to enjoy the winter in Olive Hill, Joey will be finishing out his studies at Morehead State University in May. We'll be going (along with some new friends in Harrisonburg VA) to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York this year, then if the funds are flowing still Joey and I will head to San Fransico to visit some friends and family and I plan to take lots of pictures... like the valued tourist that I am lol.
I've also plans to continue to play venues anywhere and everywhere so I can continue to meet the people that make this beautiful America that I call home. You are the people who are my family and I love you for that. Thank you for all the applause, all the offers to bed down next time I'm in town, Thanks for all the breakfasts made with love, all the friendly people who waved back while we were on the road, all the smiles, all the inspiration and most of all, Thanks for believing in what I love most- The unbreakable bond of human likeness and commonality! Thank you and I will see you all very soon!
Sending so much love to you you and you,
Sasha C.

Hey you sweet people!!
This Friday, James (www.myspace.com/jamesoverbeeandthetalkingmachine) and I are going to be hitting the road for a little over two weeks playing in North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky!
Our first stop will be in Chapel Hill, NC at Caffe Driade. This will be my second time performing in NC, but with all my visits down there, I know that it's going to be a warm hearted change of pace! On the Caffe Driade show, Puritan Rodeo (www.myspace.com/puritanrodeo) will be joining us to get some moods jumpin for sure... they are an alternative jam country blues rollin' kinda band. Joey and I played at THE CAVE in Chapel Hill not too long ago on a split bill with PR and it was definitely a fantastic kinda night. We met another performer down there named John Saylor and he had some of the most interesting subjects to some of his songs that I had heard for a while. He even had a few people who got some groove out of his tunes with some rug cuttin B) never a bad thing.
After Caffe Driade, we'll strut over to The Open Eye Cafe. I may even break out a couple new songs there! I'm sure by then I'll have them down pat. Soon to follow will be Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky along with a truck load of good stories, pictures and new found friends.
BUT first things first- I  HAVE to get some new brakes, tires, and some other random vehicle nic naks. Lets not forget that I need to get the tape player in working order, AND make some sweet layout inside the van for some sasha & james sleeping quarters. It's gonna be the sweetest layout ever lol I'll post some pictures.
Here's the first stop on the map for us!
Caffe Driade... see you soon!
Sending my love to you America!

It's true. We're in Maryland today in Baltimore. Things are wet today, but I'm absolutely cool with that!! Rolled in yesterday to play Wesley's Lounge in ELKTON Maryland. Jeff the owner was a lot of fun and was all about some hugs as most sweet older men who flirt with younger girls are lol
Played some Patsy Cline for the lonely eyed boys last night and it never fails to impress me how fun that always is.
We had a good trip up! I brought my stereo for James' van seeing as how his tape player is torn up... sooo we've got a nice boom box to cruise to while we're out. Any reason to listen to some Matthew Sweet or the new Samantha Crain or Wilco....gosh, we've totally loaded up on some good music.
Today we're going to go into downtown Baltimore to check out the harbor (which everyone has absolutely raved about) grab some local scene and see just how your northerners actually work. I never thought that I had an extremely relaxed personality but you know it's only been a couple days on the road and I'm starting to realize that... "james, We're not in kentucky anymore..." It's wild. I'm the most laid back person in the world, and you people have proved it to me lol
Joe and Jose drove down behind us yesterday and made their way back home last night after the gig... that's just how well they travel. One of my favorite things yesterday was that Joe broke out some dance moves while Jose sang some random "feet can dance" song as I drove the other van from the diesel pump after we determined that we would get further with gas lol
I'll totally be an old lady one day who still laughs about that. Joe and Jose were too cool for school in the previa van (see below)

We'll be playing in Greenbelt on Sunday and hanging in Washington and surrounding areas till we head to VA in Thursday. So far I've received nothing but sweet love and offers for it lol
Speaking of,

Sendin lots of love to you and yours,
Sasha C. & James Overbee

It's True. He looked like Tom Cruise. Who was I to not be interested? He read all the right books, took his breath in like he actually knew what he was doing. Just as me, He was looking for the sun with wide eyes though his had dimmed abit. His toes were of the polite nature and he had an electric washing machine. Who was I to not be interested?

Our Bon Voyage came when he flushed the Commode and after that, I never seen him again. But he did look like Tom Cruise. It's True.

Which one is he? Yeah, I dont know either. But he used to look like Tom Cruise. I swear.
