Current mood:ready for an ass dragging. . .
recently my world decided to take a big dose of crack and fell of the L-platform into an oncoming train
yeah
sweet.
just when it all seemed to be pickin up a bit

what better to do when:
you get dumped
all your friends break up
you need to quit smoking again
your job pays really well but is causing your brain to turn to mush
its been months since you've been what you used to call 'healthy'
apparently you're getting fat.

well.
since i feel like winging
il blog it for ya
only. . . on blogger
cause seriously y'all
myspace drives me insane
and i obviously need more of that

Current mood:fraught
it feels nowhere like christmas
though im telling myself its only the weather
this rain
less falling from the sky
than suspended
surrounding buildings in a glow
dampening faces
defining an errant hair here, an eyelash, the curve of a wool clad shoulder

less the weather though
i am disconnected from the passage of time
disassociated from monthly landmarks
set adrift in these past six months
barely tracking save for through accumulations
i can easier trace my path
across the refridgerators of friends
defined in momentary pauses
weeks and days represented as these postcards
it varies from friend to friend
if they choose
for my drawings to be displayed
or the cheesy photos they are inscribed upon

six months have passed
since this job began
a years worth nears
of being in my apartment
and yet
i cant feel it

i have this sense
of an impending occasion
i know soon i will be going home
to be fauned upon by my parents
to be questioned and cornered by family friends
an update in my life will be required
but the more important landmarks will be left out
the loves losses and small daily victories of simply waking up
instead it will be the glamour they're looking for

nearing 5am again now
yesterday - today
i was waking up
24 hours have slipped by me again
a blur
and as they say
hours to go before i sleep
we shall see what they say
when they find me on the couch
curled and aching
with no excuses left for work undone

perhaps at least by then it will snow.

Current mood:baconBACONbacon
there has been much talk of late of that god of all foods: bacon
so here i dedicate a blog to said tastyness of all tastiness

to begin:

there is certainly no better way to begin the day than with bacon

on that difficult decision of if its time to eat bacon

and if you are NOT going to choose to wear pants while makin bacon may i suggest the use of one of these?

and for all that traditionally bacon and eggs have merely shared a plate we may hope that in future they will share . . . more intimately

i mean really.  is there anything that can make a grown man squeal like a pig quite like bacon can?

hooray for bacon.
i mean, thank god for bacon...

who would have thought there were so many songs about bacon?

everyone wants to sing about bacon...

can you imagine a world with hover bacon?

sorry. can't really vouch for that last one so much... but hell.  there's never enough Daft Punk in this world
i love pigs!

ok
thats enough bacon.
really kids...
get off the sauce.

[ id like to hear someone's version of this please ]

Current mood:really freakin thirsty
the half assed recap as i try to get outta here for the day:

1) realized that i erased half the photos id taken during my random walk searching for pet stores.  really pissed about that.  i had a nice one of a pinwheel in someone's garden.  alas.  i remember it, no one else gets to see it

2) wandered into Harajuku where the cosplay kids are supposed to hang out.  didnt see many of them but found the Tokyo Fixed Gear crew.  hung out with them.  got invited to a movie premier [http://mashsf.com].  lusted after bikes and took pictures

3) wandered at random through the park.  there was some guy playing bagpipes.  the badmitten players had no net but were having fun anyway.  found a crazy amazing drum circle and a guy making giant bubbles.

4) got really really lost in shibuya.  again.  i was looking for the bar The Pink Cow, and just when i figured it was going to be another night like with Castillos i stumbled up to the place.  yeah.  a lot better than Castillos  the bartender for one was not snoring on a bench.  the food's cooked by a five star chef from ireland, and the owner is a crazy san francisco transplant who's been here for 15 years or something.  she's awesome

5) left said bar via a rid on a motorcycle.  Akira moment: check.

6) found the bike folks again.  took photos of one entire side of a street locked solid with bikes.  drank. lots. danced. lots.  went home.  now i just have to get some freakin work done!

more photos when i have a chance to process them.  in the mean time enjoy the squid of the day.

Current mood:up to no good
so the good part is that the sun is shining
the bad part?
that i just wasted two hours of time with an interpreter
or rather i didnt really waste it
but hiring her in was a waste
when i can figure out what things are at a grocery store faster than she can tell me . . . thats a problem

oh well
the sun came out, its freakin beautiful.
im taking today as my day off.
im on schedule and if i can get in and take photos at two more stores, my work here is done.
so now im off to see the Fruits, check out a shrine and then try to get this hellish kink out of the back of my neck at a hot spring.  yes, im going to the kitchy one.  its open all night, so maybe i wont even come home.

thats the kinda crazy thing.  trains stop before the karaoke places and hot springs close.  so if you miss your last train home, you just book a room and drink and sing all night.  or you go to the hot spring, get a massage and take a nap.  i really think i could get used to this.  being a night owl, no, more than that.  having trouble reminding myself to sleep on a schedule, well.  this could work out. if i could just do freelance and work on my own clock?

too tempting.

yes, there will be more photos soon.  kinda copped out on that last night.  but hey, i was busy eating.

Current mood:decaf
the lilacs are blooming
in november
along the path that runs past
where the highway rises
from underground

a steady roar
an unending glaring dragon
angered for being confined
sequestered
beneath buildings grown tall
it meets the rain soaked asphalt
with a hiss of many wheels
displeasure

enough room has been left
between streets
for crickets to flourish
the sidewalks are clean
save for fallen leaves
the stink of ginkgo berries
mistaken at first for sewer gasses rising

Current mood:translated
last night it was warmer than id expected
at the hotel bar
they sat me in a corner
where no one would see my sneakers
past the windows
lights flashed
a pile of reds intermittent
summoning something out of the sky
im getting flash backs
flash forwards
of anime movies and bladerunner moments
[i savored the end of 'do androids dream of electric sheep
even as i savored my raw tuna dinner]

it isnt so much a culture shock
as frustruation
feeling inept and embarassed
at every turn
i dont know how to show respect
and fact is
im sneaking around taking pictures where i shouldnt
ignoring the store managers as they descend upon me
and then i start lying
so how can i be respectful?

at least im trying to walk on the correct side of the stairs
everyone seems so contented
to wait
there are too many people here
for pushing and shoving to make a difference
so they've made an art of waiting

the oddities do still catch the eye
business men with small cartoon charms
hanging from their cell phones
small oragami keepsakes
left for free
at the window of the cash exchange desk

it started to rain mid afternoon
so i bought an umbrella
not for me
but for the camera
taller than most of the crowds
i found myself getting trapped
the prongs of their parasols perilously close
to my eyes

and then there are the bicycles
left unlocked
at the roadside waiting
the theives of chicago could have their way of it
no locks
not a one
then the folks riding by
on their fixies
with their deep vees
with no one to call my community here
i keep wanting to yell out
hey!
i ride bikes!
can i get you a beer?
can i . . .
but i dont speak a jot of japanese
so they ride on past
and i cant catch them
maybe the hotel has bikes
then at least i can stop this silly walking.
