Today, the John Edwards for President campaign launched "My Vote, My Voice," offering supporters the chance to have their voice heard by creating an original ad for John Edwards. The campaign is challenging supporters to submit a 30-second ad describing why they support John Edwards for president on the campaign's website – http://JohnEdwards.com/myvote – anytime between Friday, December 28th and Wednesday, January 16th.

"For decades, big corporations and powerful interests have spent hundreds of millions of dollars and deployed hundreds of lobbyists to try and silence the voice of the American people and block change and progress," Edwards said. "The American people – the people on Main Street – need a voice in Washington, and this contest is a chance for everyone in America to have their voice heard. Together, we can stand up to the powerful special interests that have taken over our democracy and fight to build a better future for our children."

The campaign is requesting that each ad submission focuses on one of Edwards' key proposals to build a better America: guaranteeing universal health care, halting global warming, ending the war in Iraq, restoring America's moral leadership in the world, ending poverty in America or strengthening the middle class.

The winning entries will be chosen by a panel of judges including: Elizabeth Edwards, John Edwards for President campaign manager Congressman David Bonior, Elizabeth Edwards' brother and NYU Tisch Film School professor Jay Anania, actor and activist James Denton, bloggers Jane Hamsher and Christy Hardin Smith of FireDogLake, Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Joe Wineke, and Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.

On Friday, January 18th, the campaign will announce a grand prize winner, and the ad will go on the air in February 5th states in the days leading up to "Super Tuesday." The grand prize winner will also have the opportunity to meet John or Elizabeth Edwards

It is my great pleasure to announce that John Edwards has won the endorsement of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) here in New Hampshire. This is a major victory for our campaign because the New Hampshire SEIU represent over 10,000 New Hampshire workers, most of whom are state employees.

Join the momentum and sign up to volunteer today - from home or in an early state: http://johnedwards.com/assets/myspace/volunteer/

On Saturday, 75 members of the carpenters union loaded up their cars and drove down to Nashua to show their support for John Edwards.  Nothing could have demonstrated organized labor's strong commitment to John Edwards more than the sight of 75 carpenters standing out in the rain, knocking on doors and doing their part to ensure that John Edwards is our next President.

More than any candidate in history, John Edwards has demonstrated his commitment to organized labor by "walking the walk" and helping workers across the country in organizing drives, contract fights and on the picket line.

This endorsement will significantly aid the campaign by providing Edwards with financial resources and volunteers in New Hampshire. [The endorsement will also prevent other state SEIU chapters from sending volunteers to New Hampshire to campaign for either Obama or Clinton.

This is the 12th state SEIU endorsement that Edwards has won; the others include key states such as Iowa, Massachusetts and California.

This morning a new poll was released that drove the point home that John Edwards is the only Democrat that can win in November. In every match-up with a Republican candidate John Edwards wins. He's the only Democratic candidate that wins in every single match-up. It's that simple.

40% Giuliani
49% Edwards

41% Fred Thompson
47% Edwards

32% Romney
53% Edwards

46% Romney
40% Obama

54% Giuliani
33% Obama

55% Fred Thompson
35% Obama

44% Romney
47% Clinton

50% Fred Thompson
44% Clinton

47% Giuliani
44% Clinton

The fact is; if we want to win in November John Edwards needs to be the nominee. The only way John will be the Democratic nominee is if supporters like you help spread the word on and offline.

Series Moderators Include MTV News Correspondents SuChin Pak and Gideon Yago and WashingtonPost.com Political Reporter Chris Cillizza

Industry Leading Pollsters John McLaughlin and Geoffrey Garin to Facilitate Real-Time User Interaction via Email, MySpaceIM and MTV.com

LOS ANGELES & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MySpace, the country's most trafficked website, and MTV, the leading global youth brand, today announced details of their first Presidential Candidate Dialogue featuring former Senator John Edwards (http://www.myspace.com/johnedwards). The inaugural event will take place on Thursday, September 27, at 12:00 pm ET on the University of New Hampshire campus an affiliate in mtvU's network of more than 750 colleges and universities and will be moderated by MTV News Correspondents SuChin Pak and Gideon Yago as well as WashingtonPost.com political reporter, Chris Cillizza. Industry-leading pollsters John McLaughlin and Geoffrey Garin will oversee the real-time polling data and audience questions being submitted via MySpaceIM and MTV.com. The kick-off event also marks the first Flektor application integration since its acquisition by Fox Interactive Media in May 2007.

"We're providing America's youth with unprecedented access to the top presidential candidates by empowering them to ask live questions and respond with real time polling tools," said co-founder and CEO of MySpace, Chris DeWolfe. "The integration of Flektor will add a new dimension of rapid response and at-home engagement we can't wait to see it all happen live and unfiltered."

"For the past 15 years, MTV and Choose or Lose has been the place where young people have gone to ask questions of the candidates and let their voices be heard," said Christina Norman, President of MTV. "Through this exciting partnership with MySpace, we are taking the concept of engagement to a new level, allowing every single young person to participate in the Dialogues."

For the first time, users at home or anywhere online are empowered to immediately respond to candidate discourse with a new online polling widget powered by Flektor. Online viewers on MySpace.com or MTV.com will be able to access a simple ratings meter to indicate their approval or disapproval of a candidate's responses as they watch the Dialogue live with instant results displayed on the screen. A "popular vote" function will allow viewers to compare their opinions against those of the entire viewing community. Poll results will be available online live during each event and archived for future viewing.

Options for approval ratings include:

·     I agree

·     Well argued

·     Sincere/ authentic

·     All of the above

Options for disapproval ratings include:

·     I disagree

·     Full of bull

·     Scripted/ canned

·     All of the above

The MySpace/MTV Presidential Candidate Dialogues also mark the first time in history where at home viewers will be able to submit questions in real-time to the candidates. As the world's fastest growing instant messaging client, MySpaceIM will provide the platform for users to submit questions throughout the duration of the event on both MTV.com and MySpace. Additionally, questions will also be asked by a live audience comprised of UNH students.

The MySpace and MTV communities will have a variety of chances to attend the Presidential Candidate Dialogues. Members on MySpace who 'friend' their official profile OR members of MTV.com who 'support' the Presidential Candidate Dialogues, will have the chance to attend by being one of the first to show up for the event with a print out of their respective profiles. Select MTV.com and MySpace users who submit the most compelling online videos on how they're addressing election issues that impact their community may also have their video integrated into related programming.

The interactive Presidential Candidate Dialogue events, each an hour in length, feature one leading Presidential candidate and America's youth in one-on-one candid discussions about the concerns of the nation leading up to the 2008 election. Held on college campuses nationwide, the Presidential Candidate Dialogues will include all the major Republican and Democratic Presidential candidates. The September 27 kick-off event will be webcast live on both MySpaceTV (http://myspacetv.com) and MTV.com, with an event broadcast later in the day on MTV and mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network.

Category: News and Politics

All next week Edwards supporters in New Hampshire will be hosting house meetings where they will invite their friends and neighbors into their homes for a discussion about John Edwards and our campaign. They'll do what New Hampshire voters know how to do – talk politics.  They'll talk about why they support John, ask questions about the details of his policies and learn more about John's positions and how they can get involved in our campaign to build One America.

The NH supporter that hosts the house meeting with the most attendees will be invited to join Elizabeth as her VIP guest to the debate at Dartmouth College on Sept. 26th.

House meetings are a critical component to our campaign. The more people know about John and his bold plans for America, the more likely they are to support him and get involved with the campaign. Spreading that message from neighbor-to-neighbor from friend-to-friend is a simple, yet powerful way to build the campaign.

There's no doubt that Elizabeth would love to take every single person who hosts an event for John with her to the debate, but we've only got one ticket and it will go to the New Hampshire supporter that organizes the biggest house meeting next week in New Hampshire

Start organizing your house meeting now by clicking here and you could be sitting next to Elizabeth on September 26th as John takes the stage!

You can even listen to a special audio message about the contest from Elizabeth. Just click here to receive the message on your mobile phone

Edwards Statement On The Resignation Of U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales Following Remarks By Bush

Aug 27, 2007 1:31 PM

Chapel Hill, North Carolina – Senator John Edwards released the following statement following the announcement of the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Edwards has repeatedly called for Gonzales to resign, the first time on March 13, 2007.

"Americans across the country have been calling for months for Alberto Gonzales to resign, and now, the man who oversaw a political purge of U.S. Attorneys at the Justice Department, approved torture techniques at Guantanamo Bay and approved illegal spying on Americans has stepped down -- this is a victory for all of us.

"The truth is Alberto Gonzales should have resigned months ago. While this news is 'better late than never,' the fight is far from over. Now is the time for a new direction. Instead of replacing him with another political insider, we need to make sure that President Bush replaces him with someone who is essentially nonpolitical, highly qualified, competent, independent and who will protect our civil liberties and the Constitution. That's what the Justice Department needs, particularly in the aftermath of Gonzales."
