Over a scorching hot weekend at WOMAD in Reading, UK, World Circuit had 2 of its artists perform.

After having 4 band members not being allowed into the UK because of not being allowed visas by the British Embassy, Mauritanian superstar chose to continue anyway as a stripped down 3 piece and the 'Diva of the Desert' managed to  blow away crowds on the open air stage with her amazing vocals and hypnotic songs.

Later on the Friday afternoon Dimi treated us to a Mauritanian workshop giving the audience a unique opportunity to see Dimi perform up close and personal.

On the Saturday it was the turn of Toumani Diabate's Symmetric Orchestra to impress the crowds with an impressive 3 separate performances on the one day.

Coupled with his balafon and djembe players Toumani's workshop gave a fantastic insight into the techniques used by one of the world's great virtuoso musicians, and not surprisingly was one of the busiest workshops of the whole weekend.

Early evening in the Siam tent saw things heat up, both onstage and in the crowd as Toumani and the full Symmmetric Orchestra livened things up with their super charged, traditional meets modern, dance band performance, bringing the pulsating energy of their show at Bamako's Hogon club to festival goers in the UK.

To round off another fantastic day, a stripped down Symmetric Orchestra played a late-night, jaw dropping acoustic set on the Radio 3 stage. bringing those that braved the rain a special peformance full of both warmth and incredible musical ability.  The combination of both sets showed just how versatile the Symmetric Orchestra are, and served as a reminder of just what an amazing talent Toumani Diabate is.
