 Hey Scenesters

It's almost time for the November bitterscene.

On Wednesday 25th we have a three band bill for you featuring:-

Violet Violet performing tracks from there just released acclaimed 2nd Album along with some old favourites.
    Rory (Kabeedies) and Cal (Vanilla Kick) performing for the second and last time a special set of covers that they put together for Children in Need, and;
Ellie Booth a local solo talent.
Doors are at 8:30 and we expect the live action to get underway around 9:00 with the bands finishing by 11:15 (in time for the last London bound train)
£5 entry 18+ only no dress code (but wear something nice)

If you can't make Wednesday our December event is early due to the Festive season and takes place on 16th December with lots of leftfield Christmas tunes and 2 fine bands.

The Pony Collaboration
plus
a set from a popular local band who we promised not to name until 10th December as they have some other shows coming up in the area.

So if we don't see you Wednesday look out for the next e-mail when all will be revealed (like an advent calendar but better).

Details of this weeks show at www.bitterscene. co.uk

Hi Scenesters

It's bitterscene time again and this week (Weds 28th)we have a treat for you and ourselves.

Playing Live we have My Sad Captains kicking off their tour in Chelmsford and finally getting round to live shows to promote their debut Album 'Here and Elsewhere' which sneaked out back in June to a few 5 star reviews.
It's great to get them back to the Bassment after many attempts to arrange a return after their glorious first appearance almost 2 years ago. Pure pop with almost to many hooks and harmonies, we can hardly wait.
To give you an idea of how good they are  the worst review the album got described still managed too compare them to Wilco,Yo La Tengo and Albert Hammond Jnr.

Support comes from old friends in a new guise, Venkman make their bitterscene debut and will appeal to any Ghostwood Shanks fans (that's everyone we believe).

Wednesday 28th October
Doors 8:30
£5
Expect Venkman around 9pm and My Sad Captains 10pm

Early finish (11pm latest) for bands as My Sad Captains are on the train back to the smoke.
Hopefully My Sad Captain will have plenty of merch this time after last times rapid sell out of their debut single.
lots of love,
the bitterscene gang xx

Wednesday 30th we have another 3 band night with old favouritesThe Kabeedies returning as they finish promoting latest single Petit Filous and gear up for the release of their debut album.

Main support comes from The Library Suits busy local boys finally making their first bitterscene appearance and touting a fine album along the way.

In case anyone missed the news, Morrissey comes to Brentwood in November and tickets unbelievably are still available from the Brentwood Centre.

There are other things going on in town but I've been asked not to plug them so trawl the web if you don't fancy bitterscene.

Hey Scenesters

Bitterscene has a super show for you next Wednesday August 26th.

We are excited to announce that playing live we have hot act of the moment Theoretical Girl playing with full band with local support from My Pet Sushi.

Theoretical Girl is originally from Southend and is currently all over the media with rave reviews for her debut album Divided which hits the shops today.  Theoretical Girl were hotly tipped for greatness at the start of the year and often mentioned alongside Florence and the Machine, Little Boots and La Roux. We think the comparison is a bit of a lazy one as there is a lot more to Theoretical Girl who is more leftfield than the other acts.

Check her out for yourself by following the link from the bitterscene website. www.bitterscene.co.uk

In support we have  My Pet Sushi local female three piece plus drummer. My Pet Sushi are classic girl group influenced power poppers.

Doors 8:30
£5
18+ only
bands 9:15-11:15

A limited number of advance e-tickets are available from We Got Tickets for £5 plus 50p booking fee

http://www.wegottickets.com/event/56728

Before bitterscene its V festival with one of the worst line ups ever.  We're sure there's more fun to be had at Fridays pre V nights at The Wheatsheaf and Barhouse where you can catch Adam from the Tabloids, The Brights and Supersonic DJ's, and there's probably stuff happening at the Box and the Fleece.

If we don't see you before, see you next Wednesday (unless you go to barhouse for great Violet Violet (but you could always catch Violet Violet later in the year at bitterscene)).

Love and kisses, the bitterscene gang

Dear Scenesters

Come and help us Celebrate and enjoy 3 great bands next Wednesday.

New friends The Puncture Repair Kit headline in all their cardi-core glory. The PRK  are a 7 member multi-instrumental band from Cambridge.  Think Belle and Sebastian or Los Campesinos. Packing a twee core armoury of usual gear supplemented with xylophones /accordians/..melodicas/..shakers and janglers (hope they bring the maracas).

In support we have old friends making welcome returns
Popdad are a 2 piece and feature Sweeney front man Murray Torkildsen (sometimes he has a Kazoo) whilst Things we lost in the fire are a full band from Chelmsford and are opening with regular musical equipment.

Links to bands websites, myspaces and tracks as usual at www.bitterscene...co.uk.

doors 8:30
bands 9-11:15 with djs until midnight
£5 on the door

Before our 8th Birthday we might see you around town this week-end as there is lots on.
Tonite (Thurs 19th) it looks like Death of the Elephant are free at Barhouse but its not that clear on the Barhouse site so check before you venture out.
Friday Shakey has 4 bands at the venue in  The  Two Brewers. Again check before you go we think it's £3. Possibly bands also at the Box.
Saturday  the mighty fine Tabloids are free with Supersonic at the Wheatsheaf , this gets our vote as we can't wait to catch the guys in action again after they got everyone excited at last months bitterscene. Saturday also sees something live at Barhouse , something else at Shakeys and probably stuff at the Fleece. (Lucky I don't  write listings professionally)

lots of  love, bitterscene xxx

PS
SHRAG who headlined in July have finally realeased their CD it's ace and you should buy one.
JOY FORMIDABLE who played last year also have a CD album out, it is Limited to 500 copies at the moment and is disappearing fast following  White Lies support slots.
