This Track
(This Track was written as a brief introduction to myself as an artist an my views on current mainstream Hip Hop trends)
Do you remember/About a second ago/Before you put this track on you had a big o' hole/In the center of your soul that's when you went oh/Forget the radio I need a new kind of flow
Before I learned my bad habits I imitated Randy Travis/I danced on stages for grandmas and
kanakas with baby mamas/My momma raised me at Ala Moana Center Stage/Where our family dramas were rolled into shows for holidays (What?)/Yeah I can dance yeah I can sing/Yeah I can grab this mic and talk about anything or nothing at all/Follow the bouncing ball, let me correct you all/On something so small but give a listen y'all/It's clear you did no homework just jumped on the culture train/When you say Carry O. Key/It's Karaoke ok?/You can say what you want but you'll be wrong just the same/Like when you say you love his music, say you love Billie Holiday?/Welcome to Hawai'i nei, land of the flower lei/Luaus, shave ice, girls made of sugar and spice/When you get off the plane there ain't no shame just make haste/Tell the cabbie don't be mad at me man/Take me to the beach
Chorus
Where my party people party people where you at/Can you bring the noise?/I like that!/I like that, when the people react/It makes me feel like the days of Hip-Hop are back/But it never was gone just had a new form/Ain't nothing wrong with a hot rap song/Unless like me You think a few MCs turned in their chrome and badge/For some radio trash gee/Golly willakers when will we kick the curse/Of lyrical crime and Hip-Hop reaching for a purse/Instead of my mind it's been proven over time/That the violent MCs get the quarters and the dimes/As well as the dollars cause a thug make you holla/Take it to the bank like Oooh Chi Walla walla/Wallets get thick and all the people get sick/It's a set up there's no let up we gotta take back the music.
Getcha boogie on getcha boogie on/Turn around touch the ground getcha boogie on/Slide right slide left/Turn around touch the ground getcha boogie on
Chorus
Oooh lah, what's that sound/Everybody knows what's going down/Just chill baby relax baby/Just sit on back and chillax/From the North Side to the South Side/From the East Side to the West Side/Like that baby, like that/Baby just sit on back and chillax
Breakit
(Breakit was written as a call-back to the days of feel-good rap lyrics that call for positive thinking and funky beats that inspire break dancing)
Now calling all booty shakers/booty shakers please make your way to the dance floor/please help us to get the party started/but make way booty shakers, make way/all booty shakers make way for the breakers!
Break it down to the ground or whatever you on/Move ya feet one in front of the other be gone/If ya need to get away it's so easy to do/Take a vacation and move with the music/Just like that you be on a world tour/Like a miracle cure/Don't have to take a step outta your home/But you gotta get up outta your zone for sure
There ya go now I betcha feel a little better/I betcha feeling like a go getter/So go get somebody and invite em to the party/Cause it's better when the party got a whole lotta bodies/And a whole lotta hotties by that I mean they're not/Your average fans of pop (too cool)/Can't wait to punch a clock (and drool)/Too scared to really rock (boo hoo!)/That's sad/Cause it's rockin' when you're rad and proud to be bad/Proud to take a stand proud to be a fan/When people like, "Man you're the world's biggest dork"/Just remember that you put in work (cause you're a breaker)/All the times you fell and got hurt(you're a breaker)/When you skinned your knees in the dirt (cause you're a breaker)/When you wondered if you'll ever make it work (you're a breaker)/Just remember breakers never give up (they got nerve)
Break that mindset that loves negativity/Break them chains that hold you down
Break that habit that's bad if you have it/Break them comfortable cages down to the ground
Move move get up and groove/Move your two left shoes/You got the time right you in the limelight/You got the moves and know what to do (getcha boogie on)/Look around and see everybody bumping/Jump in the circle get everybody jumping/Mix it up get the whole joint ready to blow up/Cause you already there go nuts
Up up and away, you feeling kinda lifted when/People jumpin in showing what they workin with/You 'bout to say today was a good day/But today ain't close to being over yet/Looking at the crowd/Feeling kinda riled/Feeling like people think you're the golden child/Yes it's the greatest/Feeling like you made it/Just remember that you're making people smile
Break that mindset that loves negativity/Break them chains that hold you down
Break that habit that's bad if you have it/Break them comfortable cages down to the ground
Right about now it's about that time/To clear the way for someone's first time/There's even extra bars in case you think twice/About being a breaker and need to thaw the ice/First of the night or first of your life/It don't matter which it is just don't waste your time/Don't wait for a push you know you wanna do it/Jump in the hora and move it like fluid/We're looking at you kid rocking like a new kid/Yes yes y'all we knew that you could do it/Everybody make some noise/That's right girls and boys/That's how we do it without a doubt/Party people busting out lyrical physical styles/Alright everybody you know what's poppin/So keep it up and don't let nobody drop it/Peace out
Dreamcatcher
(Dreamcatcher was written to share my belief in the power of dreams; a gift from God))
Don't let your dreams drift away/You gotta reach out and grab them/Take control of your fate and be a Dreamcatcher/Live like the rapture's coming today/Live your dreams to make them stay
I was falling as I woke up, passing through clouds/I was free to turn free to look at the ground/Rising up fast to meet me/Grass me rocks no please/I tried in vain to stop it/Woke up, first thing thanked God I'm not dead/Tightly grabbing the sheets on my bed/Went about the biz of my morning routine/Happily relieved of my dream (but don'tcha know)/Every moment that my mind wasn't occupied/I'd be right back in my dream falling from the sky/I'd try to replay my mishap in mid-air/Why was I falling and how did I get there?/Or better yet how do I stop from falling/There's got to be a way got to be a way to soften/The impact at least see I strongly believed/That this wasn't gonna be the last time I had this dream/There was something nagging at me I couldn't explain but/I could tell this was the first time this was a game/I was blessed with a vision of limited flight/Now I gotta take the limits of to see the light/Couldn't wait to sleep couldn't wait to dream/Late that night said my prayers with new meaning/If I should die before I wake/Dear lord let me realize my dream
Chorus
I felt wind on my face it rushed through my hair/My eyes were closed but I knew I was suspended in air/So I opened one, and slowly the other/I was so high up this time higher than the other
Never more excited scared to death at the same time/I started falling, faster this time/I felt myself waking up as the ground rushed to me/Again no sound as the grass field entombed me/I woke up/Not a bit of pain/Except that part of my heart that says I failed again/Failed to soar, failed to meet expectations/That I set upon myself for my aerial navigation/Oh well, at least I'm still alive/At least I got the drive to get back up for a second time/A thought crosses my mind, "get back up?"/Could it be that simple? If it is then I'm in luck/If I was falling in my dreams then it seems I need/To start from the beginning I need to plant the seed/I need the secret that let's me take off That let's me ignore the gravity of thought/I'm watching birds, I'm watching planes/I'm watching bubbles and children while they play their games/A bumble bee's body's too big for his wings
So if a bee can fly, can't I in my dreams?
Chorus
Standing in the field feels so real/Sunlight warms me wind gives me chills/The sky is beautiful clear as ever/The grass at my feet soft as duck down feathers/So duck down I do to brush a few blades/When my feet lift me up and take me off of the face/Of the earth and at first I didn't even take notice/Till I reached with my hand and my lean/Sent me forward just a foot at first/I gasp and back up/Standing back on the grass, I look up/Word! That was dope as all get out/My heart 'bout leapt out lets do it again!/I bent my knees leaned forward fell down/I didn't understand why did I hit the ground?/What came over me I'm ashamed to admit it/I threw the biggest fit God ever intended/When my throat was sore, my voice hoarse I ended/No strength in my body left to raise up a finger/Hardly able to stand to my surprise I sat down/On thin air like arms were there off of the ground/"I give up!" I said loud and I started to move/Any direction that I wanted to/It wasn't long before I realized that/The biggest Dreamcatcher always had my back/I felt the presence of love the warmth of a security/Telling me I could be anything I choose to be/Of all the riches and treasures in this life/My simple wish was granted, yes I took flight/I let go of control gave it to God instead/Set my sights forward, tilted my head/Full speed ahead with the quickness I'm a witness
I soaked up the rush till I woke up in bed
Chorus
The Nod Factor
(The Nod Factor was a live Hip Hop show on KTUH that had 1:00am "throwdowns" where MC's would call up and freestyle rap about any given topic. In this segment a little red friend of the Sesame Street gang makes a guest appearance)
Tonight
(Tonight is a song written as a man's celebration for finding that person he is proud to be "one flesh" with)
Giddy-up giddy-up let's switch it up/Put your body in flux
Giddy-up giddy-up let's switch it up/Get down with the sound and jump
Bump your rump if you feel it's right/But, keep your lumps tucked out of sight
And, shake it baby girl, go on trip the lights/We ain't trying to fight
We all down tonight
From the moment that I cracked the door/Christian Dior had me spinnin from my head to the floor
Peeked around the corner and I thank the Lord/Wow baby girl you beautiful/But the thing I love about you ain't the scent/It ain't the clothes you got up in your apartment/It's apparent you had good parents/You're above average/I'm whipped by your sense and your upright carriage/Looking at you, you know what to do/To make a man become a fan and even act a fool/You bathed yourself in a wash of self-confidence/Rinsed out your doubts and replenished it with prominence
Stepped out the tub and like a raw dub/We be jammin'… nah/That's wishful thinking my eyes are blinking/Cause I'm taking you in like the stars that be twinkling/Wynken, Blynken, and Nod/Took me off to see God/One night when I was sleeping and they dropped me off here/In the middle of your life and now the reason is clear/Sheer as piece of white gauze/Soft as a baby sheep's baa
Your innocence is flowing and you're wearing it well/But I can tell you're not naïve and yes I'm ready as well for us to
Chorus
After you wrap your/Package in glamour/It's time to strap those toes into much more/The path is waiting no hesitating/We gotta walk this way so St. Peter will be waiting/But not just yet, because tonight we're still alive/So come out with me and jump into my ride/I'll take you down the boulevard down to the avenue/Keep it clean and sober to remember how we broke a few
Necks as we flexed our legs out the Lex/It's not what we intended don't we look like the rest?
I guess it's not enough to be chock full of stuff/The fluff ain't enough to make moves past the bluff
We ain't turning heads cause we living high above/People notice us cause we walk down the street with/Love sho nuff this stuff could fill up an Oreo/More than double stuff/You're so wonderful, wrapped in colorful/Ways to express yourself/I'm a Keebler elf/Just trying/To share the wealth/Running round the tree house skip the stealth/You make me wanna be more than a better man/I wanna be the best so I'm stretching like a rubber band/That way this way round and round
Turn around touch the ground
Chorus
Back at home we laugh cause it's a remedy/Not once did you shed your sensibilities/Peeps and stunts want to come between you and me/But baby girl no that could never be/I don't mistake class with drinking from a glass/The lass that I need be the last one to feed/Whenever there are those with a need more than greed/I look to my lady who's an M.D. by pedigree/Check the Lady D/That's what a damsel be/Fresh like a flower and sharp when she needs to be/Flip an O. G.
A gentleman wanna be/Put it all together now you know you got a recipe/Not for disaster
More like painted plaster/Let's go fresco, magically presto/D O to the G?/No dog, it's GOD!
The one who says "I AM"/Not to be or not to be./Good for the soul/Old like Solid Gold/Down for me anytime I know just where to go/Keep it on the low or be a rolling stone/And tell it on the Mountain like a messenger of old/Me and my lady/Some call us crazy/We living like one flesh unified baby/She go I go/Me go we go/The only way to do it is to put aside our egos
Check Ya Neck (Holes)
(Check Ya Neck (Holes) refers to making a clear passage to properly receive God's word – so many people today hear, but are not listening)
Holler back/When you hear the Word spoken
It's like that/you gotta keep your ears open
no jokin/check your neck holes and
keep the passage clear/to hear the Word when it goes in
Sick wit it, like a boogie in a tissue/that's the Word you should make it standard issue/don't let it miss you let it softly kiss you/the only one in charge of all that baby is you/how do you like it, having that much control/you got free will now which way are you gonna go/you don't have to do a thing or do what you're told/you could choose to be a rock or a be rolling stone/But think about it/how dope is all that/to have the power to be saved or give that gift right back/think a bit about that while you bring sexy back/to where the wild things are I know you think about that/it's so easy be free no one wants to be responsible/but hear the Word and know we all are held accountable
it's just a mind set, a picture of reality/knowing that this world is a fallacy/the real challenge is setting clear boundaries/know who you are and love your self when you're down /These days grow cold and these ways grow old/There's a whole in your soul so fill it up don't let it go
Chorus
I used to kick it like a villain in the winter just chillin/feelin like I got a mission, I got the fever for spittin/so I got out of my rut, my butt, so sore, from sitting back checking the score/Lord
help me I'm a changed man, I see the game plan/now I know it's on me
no lollygagin/I know that there's a better way, some people say/that there's no turning back well I don't wanna turn back/In fact I think that the fact that you ain't never turned your back on me when I was dying proves that you are love/How many people on this earth choose to see the worth/of the all people around them from clean to covered with dirt/You saw me crawling, clawing into bigger holes/You told me "Stop it, there's a reason you're the one I chose"/From my head to my toes I shook and I rose/like on the third day when the boulder you rolled/I'm free now/So here I am turning locks like a key now/I'm teaching kids how to dance and how speak out/and it's the greatest feeling when I see how/a kid can be loud expressing herself through a freestyle
Chorus
Disconnected
(Disconnected is an instrumental track that is obviously open to interpretation, but was inspired by the disconnection to God many people have as a result of rejecting Jesus as their savior; the vocalizations in the track are representative of the heart calling out in desperation to be whole)
Indelible Delilah (Chapter 4)
(As the first of an entire nine songs to be presented (think Star Wars in epic form) this song calls on the literary work 1984 by George Orwell as the back story to the offspring of Winston and Julia, Indelible Delilah, a graffiti artist on a mission against immorality who is guided by God)
The Capitol Building was designed to let in air fire and water. But the earth was seen as a nuisance. The people, were seen as dust which needed to be swept…but some things are impossible to remove…indelible.
Cool wet streams of red white and blue leapt from the nozzles of Delilah's Krylons. Each can covers up to 25 square feet. Dries in fifteen minutes or less. She could do a decent tag in twenty. But this…this was monumental.
Some people wake up singing/Some people write their dreams down
Some people lay their life down on the ground/To feel the lost connection with the rest of us
Cause when the last chapter's finished it's all dust to dust
Here in the cloak of a dark night no light/Reflecting off of her gear no need to fear/Black tape-covered canisters match her clothes and having her/Man on the other seal make her feel
Like somebody got her back like/No one ever had before/The way he got her back like now
Matter fact she drifting back to nights like now/When she would kick a boy to the curb
Cause she had to write a word or two/Learning how to murder fools/With simple epithets oh and how simple gets/Big responses turns boys to monsters/Like rats in a cage smelling blood in they nostrils/But those were other days full of crazy ways/When no one praised this woman who was once a stone baby/Big Brother took her mother's brain and threw it in a pile/It seemed like that was the end but God blessed the child/The Brotherhood made a play and took her from her mother who was dead on arrival/Her parents' strong will made Delilah a survivor/That was 1984 when the fuzz had your brain wired
Chorus
She had a dream to put up a piece/Tell the world what happened why there is no peace/Take a worn down ideal decorate it with zeal/Show the people that their greatest fear is really real/Now it seems that this moment was meant to be shared/By two lovers of freedom who thought and so cared/Enough to write a love letter big enough for all people/Who dared to be proles/And pray under the steeple/Cause, nowadays things are not like they were/Yes nowadays things are helter skelter more than ever/You'll get tarred and feathered, worn down like old leather/If you go against the grain against the old yellers/telling lies of corruption/high on consumption/It seems that we forgot our basic function/So Indelible D, and her mate for the evening/Put up a red white and blue sign/colored with feeling/"The Truth Is lying in state. What are you gonna do?"/As fate would have it the thought police brought the madness/Instead of badges - billy clubs and guns against spray cans bandits
Chorus
Cutting her tether now, light as a feather/She Climbed up the chains looking for change in the weather/Whether it's noble to try to run in the eye of uncertainty/Or just give up complacently
Neither one's her style, she even cracks a smile as she dodges/Insults and gunfire/Delilah be nimble Delilah be quick/The only proper adjective in this moment is sick as she moves/Her man sends a message/He's trapped there's no exit/Cut and run no heroics that's how we planned it
She had a change of heart it was different if she got caught/Now she had another objective
Down the chains she slid to the top of the seal/Eye to eye with the other one keeping it real close
As she fired her grappling hook/Ditched the paint cause the message stuck fast to the seal
Delilah swung a hundred feet/Let go back tucked landed down on one knee/Looked up and what did she see/Her man grinning with a loaded barrel at her check
Chorus
Besides the loaded chamber he was armed with forty thought police/A straight monopoly on the surface/He began to pull the trigger same time the earth shuddered/Delilah felt the mosaic beneath her dissolve/She fell fifty feet through Tadashi Sato's Aquarius and/landed unscathed, then turned and saw the face of God saying/"Live to fight another day"
Passion
(Passion is an instrumental that is obviously open to interpretation, but is my expression of the joy I find each day as an ambassador of God)
Put Em Up (Feat. Justin James on drums)
(Put Em Up is a call to all people to not only recognize something greater than themselves, but to call Jesus by name and let him into their hearts)
Kick the flow rip the flow/Flip a quarter for the folks that want the show order/To be live in the back like it's live in the front/Don't give em what you got man, give them what they want/Even if that means that 100 and 10/Percent is not enough for all of your fans/They showed up in vans
Cause they can't afford the gas/So make the show live/Make them throw up they hands/Wave them side-to-side if you got the time/Show them that you feel them look in they eyes/Show them that you real tell the story of your life/Show them how you feel inside/When you ride/How you slide/What you wear when you kick it inside/Up on the stage you kick it up to engage
But how do you kick it live
How many people can rock like this?/Anybody people just raise a fist!/Cause we all somebody We all want money/We all want a hive that generates honey/So our day looks sunny/Even if the sky's falling/Just keep it together people everybody's balling/I got you and you got three/Friends that got friends like a family tree/And if you act right socially/You see that we be connected by six degrees/So grab somebody/Sing la di da di/Bring them to the circle time to crank up the party/Thank the Lordy that this party don't need no Bacardi/Everybody found the party when they let in the Lordy and/Letting in the Lord is so easy to do/All you got to do is want to
Sisters and brethren/Thank you each and everyone/This may be the end/But the show is never done/We all gathered round and/Felt the way to be ONE/but be on your toes/Cause we living in Babylon/On your way home/Watch for cops cause they run with guns/Their job is to watch for
Targets so don't be one/Mind your p's and q's/Double tie your shoes/Stay up on the news/Cause the man's work is never done/Half the fun of being out at night/Is buckin' rules and doing what you like/But keep your neck tucked out of site/Cause a little bit of living shouldn't cost your life
If you a villain then you illin' and ain't livin' right/Wanna change you gotta make a way to make change your life/For the people kickin' evil step into the light/Say the name and feel your veins pump strong with might/Say, "Jesus I need you!"
What you hear in not a test we all jamming to the beat/If you feeling the party c'mon clap ya hands and everybody stomp your feet!/Like this y'all like that/Like this y'all like that/We got the funk, so everybody jump/We gotta pump-pump, pump-pump, jump!
Kick it party people yes indeed/Kick it party people responsibly
Kick it party people yes indeed/We gonna party till the wheels fall off!
