Hey friends!
Brandon here (drums) lovingly blogging on behalf of my good friend, Mr. Riddle.
Exciting times!! Jeremy's new CD "The Now and the Not Yet" is all set to be released on MARCH 3RD!! Be sure to pick that up however you feel most comfortable. (itunes, Best Buy, Church Bookstore, Mom and Pop music stores... <---- do mom and pop music stores exist these days?)
nonetheless.
The first single to be released is a song called "Bless His Name." If you have seen us play in the last year or so, you have probably heard this tune. It's a great song!! If you haven't heard it, you can find it on the myspace player in the upcoming weeks. Keep checking back.
Here's where we need to come together as a team...
Jon Rivers from KLOVE played "Bless His Name" last week in a segment he calls.. Jon's Future Favorites. Now, we need to head on over to http://20thecountdownmagazine.com and vote for "Bless His Name" to be picked up and played in full rotation on KLOVE stations.
here's the website again... http://20thecountdownmagazine.com
you'll see what to do once you get there. Thanks so much friends!! We're really excited about Jeremy's new CD, and this year promises to be a busy one on the road, so we're sure to see all of you at some point!
Many Blessings dear friends! B
PS- i chose my mood to be "blustery" because it reminded me of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day!

Current mood: fermented
Hello peoples,
I love to read. Reading has been one of the main things God has used to grow me up, fill me with His wisdom and transform me into His image. At this point in my life I read no fiction but rather one of two things: the Bible or Christian literature. Maybe that's sad or unbalanced- I don't know. I'm just not passionate about anything else. Anyway, I was recently in a discussion with a friend and we decided to swap with each other the top 5 books that have transformed our lives and ministries to date. This of course made me think about what those top five books would be and I thought I would share the results with you. Some of these may be considered controversial and I certainly don't agree with everything every author had to say. They are not the Gospel to me- just books I know God has used to impact me with His truth. So in the interest of growing together and sharing here they are...
1. Breakthrough by Derek Morphew. It's a book on the Kingdom of God. This one may be a bit hard to find. Amazon should have it. This book has been instrumental in shaping my lens on life and ministry. This book describes what makes me get out of bed most mornings and what I want my life and the church community I'm a part of to be built around. Its a little academic at times and not the easiest read- certainly not the hardest though.
2. The Lord and His Prayer by N.T. Wright. One of the most moving and insightful books on the Lord's prayer I've ever read. As N.T. puts it, "The more I have studied Jesus in his historical setting, the more it has become clear to me that this prayer sums up fully and accurately, albeit in a very condensed fashion, the way in which he read and responded to the signs of the times, the way in which he understood his own vocation and mission and invited his followers to share it. This prayer, then, serves as a lens through which to see Jesus himself, and to discover something of what he was about."
3. Repenting of Religion by Gregory A. Boyd. If this book doesn't stir something fierce in you within a short period of time I highly doubt you're grappling with what he has to say. When I first picked up this book and began to read I immediately took great offense to it. It became my mission to prove him wrong because if I didn't I was going to have to radically change my way of thinking and thought patterns very instinctual and core to me. In the end I surrendered that mission and let this book challenge the crud out of me. There is much in this book that is questionable and many important, valid questions it doesn't answer. But I believe the main message he preaches is solid and one the church today absolutely needs to hear. The books weakness is practical application.
4. In the Name of Jesus by Henri J.M. Nouwen. This is one of the best books on Christian leadership I have ever read. Very short and very powerful. Rocked me. The three disciplines he names in this book are the three disciplines I'm currently attempting to wrap my life around: the discipline of contemplative prayer, the discipline of confession and forgiveness, and the discipline of theological reflection.
5. Five Smooth Stones for Pastoral Work by Eugene H. Peterson. (Author of The Message) This book I'm just digging into, but what I have found in the first couple of chapters has given me every indication that it will rank incredibly high on the list of books that will have shaped my ministry and life. I respect Eugene's pastoral wisdom more than most out there (mainly because it was learned over a long span of time actually pastoring people) and everything I've read from him tells me here is a guy pastors need to pay attention to. (warning- not an easy read- I have to read with a dictionary by my side).
Even as I list these I think of how many amazing works of Christian literature I've yet to read that could potentially blow all these out of the water. Exciting stuff for me (I know its nerdy). :)
So- share! What books has God used to rock your world? If you don't have one- start reading! I sound like PBS right now. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John... Romans? All good places to start.
With much love,
Jeremy
P.S. You guys ever scrolled through the vast amount of moods myspace allows you to be in? Amazing... I had to go with fermented because... I've never felt that way before and... I wanted to try it.
