Hello everybody!

As a lot of people has been asking us about the album since we came back from Wales, here's a little update.

Recording with Romesh and Rob was a great experience and the mixes of the songs we've heard so far sound incredibly good. Romesh is currently finishing the mixing and once he finishes the album will be mastered.

Once the album is in our hands we will start looking for a label to release our music in Spain, The UK and everywhere else we can. We still don't know exactly how much we will have to wait to have it, but as soon as we do we will give you a little "preview" of how the new songs sound.

All bands say the same, but trust me, this album includes the best songs we have ever written, light years away from any of our previous ones.

We can't wait until you can hear it and we're also looking forward to start playing live again as soon as possible! Meanwhile, keep an eye on our MySpace and Facebook profiles as we will be uploading new pictures, videos and making some changes.

We will be back really soon!

Roberto

CASTELLANO:

Roberto

Due to all the shit that has happened to us I won't be able to update this daily, but I'll try to do my best

30/08/2009

-Roberto

07/09/09

30/08/09

At 5 AM on Sunday (Javi and I didn't even go to sleep) we left for Barcelona, once at the airport we checked our luggage in surprisingly fast, we had some rest, we took our plane (which was on time) and we got to Bristol. Once in Bristol we had an amazing pub lunch, everything was delicious and way cheaper than in Spain. Then, we took our train to Cardiff, which was also on time.

We couldn't believe it, everything was going well, nothing had ever gone so well in the history of the band. In fact, it was actually going too well. We should have listened to Oscar, who had been saying " I can't believe this, something bad is going to happen" for a while...

Once we got to Cardiff we started calling the landlord, who didn't pick up the phone. After more than one hour at the central station we decided to take a taxi to the house and just wait there, all of this under the rain. Once we got to the house in which we were supposed to live we kept on calling the landlord, who was still not answering. As it was cold and raining, we decided to enter a bar. A bar where everyone was very nice, as they let us stay there for more than 4 hours, but where they kept on playing really bad Reggae (is there any good Reggae?)

We finally contacted the landlord, who said he had to go abroad because of an emergency. After a while (keep in mind we had been waiting for 5 hours) two women and a man, who was the landlord's friend who had the keys, turned up. I could make this very long but I'll keep it short: we went inside, everything was a mess, extremely dirty, without showers or hot water, so we told the landlord's supposed family to fuck off and we went to a hostel.

And here's our conclusion: we had left home with lots of hope, having prepared everything months ago, and we suddenly found ourselves with suitcases that weigh a gazillion kilos, no place to live and an album to record...

-Roberto

31/08/09

We woke up at the hostel, where everyone slept very well except for me, due to the fact that we shared a room with a bunch of vikings who came at 3 AM and fucked my night. We took our heavy luggage and called a taxi to take us to Longwave Studios. The taxi driver told me not to worry, as he had been doing his job for 24 years and he certainly knew what he was doing. Apparently, 24 years weren't enough time for him to learn how to read addresses, as it took him a billion years to find the studios.

Once there we met Rob, who works at the studios as an engineer and will be with us throughout the recording process and Romesh, our producer.
After showing us his impressive studios we headed to a rehearsal space that Romesh had rented to do some pre-production.

We spent the whole day there playing our songs for Romesh so he could get familiar with them. By the end of it, we were all completely dead as we hadn't eaten anything all day. At night, Dani, Javi and me went to a really cheap hostel that Romesh found for us. Oscar decided to sleep in the hostel where we stayed the night before because, apparently, he really liked  the breakfast there. We decided to go to the hostel with him so we could have dinner together. We bought some sandwiches at the only supermarket that was still open in Cardiff and ate them at a bus stop in the cold.

We were still looking for a house and still spending way more money than we had planned. Well, just like always.

-Roberto

01/09/09

We woke up early and we went to the studio to record some guide tracks (vocals,
guitars and bass) just as an aid for the recording of the drums. We stayed there all day and at the end of the afternoon Rob took me to a drum shop to buy some drumsticks while Oscar was recording his vocal parts.

Once there, I noticed there was an MTV award on one of the shelves. While leaving the store, I asked Rob if he knew why that award was there and he told me that the drummer from Red Hot Chili Peppers had given it to the owner of the store because they were great friends and that it was usual for him and Travis Barker to visit the store while in Cardiff.

We went back to the studio where Oscar and Romesh were, as Javi and Dani had gone to see a house. Oscar and I bought some cheap Sushi and ate it at the supermarket's entrance. Later, we had the brilliant idea of walking from the studio to the hostel, without having a fucking clue about where we actually were. Javi and Dani took a taxi and got there in a matter of minutes. We ended up walking for miles with all our luggage. EPIC FAIL.

After dinner, Javi and I went to The Barfly -where it was 90's night- to have a drink with Romesh and some of his friends. It was great but we left early as the next day I woud start recording drums at Modern World Studios, about and hour and a half away from Cardiff.

Our luck was about to change...

- Roberto

02/09/09

After meeting Oscar -who, for the third time, had
slept in the same hostel, we went to Romesh's studio. There we met Tom (a very nice guy who plays and sings in Straight Lines) who was waiting for us with his van. After Rob and Romesh came we started loading up the van (with an incredible drum kit and lots of other stuff) and we went to Modern World Studios to record drums.

Once there we met Michael, our engineer. He showed us the studios and none of us could believe it. I'm not going to spend hours writing, just go to the website and click on "Chill Out". Well, actually, click on everything.

There, the rest of the band and I took different ways: I started recording drums while they had non-stop fun. That said, Romesh's drum kit was sounding incredible.

Something good was finally happening!

-Roberto

03/09/09

After having a proper sleep for the first time since we had been in Wales (the house we stayed at during our time at Modern World Studios was truly impressive) we went to the studio, and the truth is that I don't have much more to say: I spent the whole day recording while the guys played video games and kept on looking for a house on the internet.

It was only the second day, and I had already destroyed six drumsticks.I had never played such a great drum kit in a place that sounded that good before.

We went back to the house, watched some American Dad DVD's that Romesh had brought and then we all went to bed.

-Roberto

04/09/09

I woke up, together with Romesh and Rob, and we went to the studio
while the others preferred to sleep for a few more hours (I don't blame them, it was the only thing they could do besides playing every video game system in the world).

I spent a few hours recording and when I finally heard Romesh's voice telling me "Drums are done!" through the headphones I couldn't help but to feel a great relief: the recording of the drums on our album had been an incredible experience but also an exhausting one, as Romesh (who apparently knows something about recording drums) wanted me to play as if my life depended on it. And he was right, the results are incredible.

We packed up our things and after a while Tom came to pick us up.We said goodbye to Michael, who had treated us really well, making us feel better than at home (mainly because none of us lives in a luxury mansion) for 3 days, and we drove back to Cardiff.

We were finally on our way to what would be our house for the rest of the month!

- Roberto

05/09/09 - 06/09/09

Luckily, our first weekend in Cardiff started in our new house, which is located on the outskirts of the city, in a nice residential neighbourhood. The best part was discovering that we had a 24 hours Tesco near.

There's not much to tell about these two days. Dani, Oscar and Javi spent them resting, buying food/stuff we needed and visiting the city. I took advantage of the weekend and spent it with my girlfriend, who came to see me from London and I also discovered that with the portions they serve at Hard Rock Café they could feed lions.

-Roberto

07/09/09

While I stayed home sleeping (I deserved it!) Javi, Oscar and Dani woke up to go to Longwave Studios, where Dani would start to record his bass parts. Rob and Oscar went to buy some new strings while Javi, Dani and Romesh waited for them at the studio. When they came back, they started recording.

I spent the day resting some more and exploring our neighbourhood, discovering that, apart from Tesco and and incredible gym, there was absolutely nothing else. Oh, and I also discovered that bus drivers are very lazy, as you can only pay the exact fare due to the fact that they don't give any change. At least they're punctual.

-Roberto

08/09/09

Oscar and Dani woke up early and went to the studio, while Javi and I decided to reach them a bit later. Once we got there I made some coffe, Romesh tried it, liked it a lot and decided that from that moment I would have to be the one to make it every day.He even threatened to throw me out of the studio if I didn't.Well, almost. Dani finished recording his bass parts, leaving us both with nothing to do for a few days while Oscar and Javi recorded guitars.

That night, Javi, Oscar and I went back to The Barfly, where we met Romesh, Rob and some of their friends. We drank a bit too much, listened to 90's hits, took a taxi and came back home. When we were about to get there our driver said "guys, check this out". A guy and two girls were in front of us, all in their underwear, running in the street. On a Tuesday night. In an apparently quiet neighbourhood.

We got out of the taxi and while we walked home, they saw us. One of the girls started running towards us and got on Oscar, he only one who, apparently, hadn't see her coming. We went home running, closed the doors and told Dani to turn the lights off as these characters were still around. Scary stuff.

How are you all doing? It has been ages since the last update so it was about time I wrote something.

We have been (and still are) writing our debut album and we're really happy with how the songs are coming together. I know, we've been writing music for a year now, but I promise it will be worth the wait.

At first we wanted Oscar to record our album but right now he is doing a million things at the same time and doing it would probably make his head explode, so we thought it would be better for him to concentrate on making music.

And here's the good news: we will be recording our album with  Romesh Dodangoda in Cardiff, Wales. Romesh is an amazing producer who has worked with bands like Funeral For A Friend, Bullet For My Valentine, Kids In Glass Houses, Glassjaw,The Blackout, Manic Street Preachers and lots more.

Check out Funeral For A Friend 's "Memory And Humanity" or Kids In Glass Houses' "Smart Casual" to hear some of his latest work.

We will be spending the whole month of September at Longwave Studios recording th best album we can make. We are really excited about working with Romesh and we can't wait until you hear the results!

We still have a few  months ahead before we start recording, we will spend this time working on our songs and making them as perfect as they can be.

That's it for now, hope you're all doing well. Oh! And remember, you can now follow us on Twitter

For A Friend, Bullet For My Valentine, Kids In Glass Houses,
Glassjaw,The Blackout, Manic Street Preachers y muchos más.

Hi!

Ok,we know it has been a really long time since we updated this properly but we will try and make up for it with LOTS of news:

-First of all, we want everyone to know that Dani is back in the band! After moving back to Spain to write our new album we realized we needed to have a bass player that could write and rehearse with us every day. It was impossible for Nik to do it due to him being in the UK, so we asked Dani if he wanted to write an album with us and he said YES!
We're really excited about this! That said,we also wish Nik the best of luck with all of his future projects and we want to thank him a lot for helping us out.

-To celebrate the fact that Dani is back in Day Of Rising ALL the songs our player are available for you to download FOR FREE...so grab them now!

-We're still writing our album which we really hope to release before the end of the year. We think that the songs we have right now are the best we've ever written and we hope you'll think the same once you hear them.

-We will not be touring the UK or Spain properly while we're writing the album because we really want to concentrate on that. We will, however, play some shows around Spain. We've already been confirmed for Festimad and Universimad and we have a couple more summer dates up in the air which we hope to confirm soon. Once the album is released, we will tour Spain, the UK and hopefully some new places in Europe!

-As you have probably noticed, we're currently uploading new pictures. They were taken by the really talented Laura Vallés. She's a great photographer and if you're interested in her work you can check out both of her pages: http://flickr.com/photos/lauravalvil and http://lauravalvil.carbonmade.com

-Merchandising is coming really soon. Trust us.

I think that's it for now, keep on checking our page for updates!

Take care,

Roberto

ESPAÑOL:

Hola!

-Vamos a tener merchandising disponible pronto.

Cuidaros,

Roberto

Hello everybody,

I just thought that I should let you all know what is happening with DOR at the moment as we've haven't posted lots of news lately, in part due to the fact that I still don't have access to the internet at home (I hope this problem will be solved soon).

Anyway...we came home in Christmas to spend some time with our friends and family and decided to stay here for a while.Don't get us wrong, we love the UK, but we really wanted to spend some time at home and relax after all that happened during our time over there. Not to mention the fact that we really missed that little flashy thing in the sky called Sun.

We also realized that we needed to write new songs, in fact, we need to write lots of them. We are constantly playing and we have barely practiced during the last two years , which coupled with the fact that we are pretty slow when it comes to writing means that we have been playing the same songs for a bit too long. Our plan for this year is to concentrate on writing as many  new songs as we can so we can eventually release an album,  which is something we would really love to do as soon as possible. We really think it's time for it and all of you deserve it!

The downside to all of this is that we won't be playing too many gigs or touring a lot this year. That doesn't mean we're NOT going to play, we WILL play some shows in the UK and also in Spain (where we haven't played for quite a long time now) and you will be the first to know when we're playing, so don't worry too much.

We don't really know how long it will ,take us to write the album (due to the fact that we've come to learn that EVERYTHING in this band is totally unpredictable), but we will keep you updated throughout the whole process!

Hope you are ok, thanks for your support and all of your messages and comments, you may not know it but they mean a lot to us

Roberto

ESPAÑOL:

Hola a todos/as,

Roberto

Hey!!

I'm glad to announce that we have been chosen as one of the featured artist on XFM this week! Two more artists have been chosen, here's how it works:

Each night - from tonight till Wednesday - Steve Harris will play out a song by one of that week's three Uploaded Featured Artists - as chosen by XFM.

Listeners then vote online for their favourite the band's page. The band with the most votes will be declared that week's winner, and will get played out again in full on Music: Response on Thursday.

It would mean a lot to us to have your vote! The only thing you have to do is go to our XFM Uploaded page and click on the banner on the left to vote for us! Thanks a lot!!

Hey,

I'm posting the lyrics to both songs here just in case you can't see them from our player. I hope you like them, it would be amazing to see you sing along with us at our shows!

Phoenix Inc.
Lyrics by Oscar, music by Day Of Rising

I can remember
times I felt stable and whenever I would tremble
(could lean on you, the one I knew)

But now it feels like
like twice a lifetime and as distant as the skyline
(These words you said I won't forget)

I don't think that this will ever go back
to where we felt everything was fine but
I know the place where everything goes
is just where lies finally fall apart

Once you said we would not make it without
your help but you were not nearly right and
you pushed and tried but managed to prove
our time together belongs to past

Miles away, my eyes remained open as we crossed the rain
While running from the sunsets already missed and those we'll miss
I will try to keep them forever alive
Streets tonight are looking dark and holding memories out of sight
and you won't shine again to light ahead
but still we have our will and smile again, take it all out on yourself

I lost my bearings
to find a meaning to this fear and endless screaming
(I can't blame you, we all went through)

For all I know you've
got eyes that fancy all but they get fed up quickly
(Replace what's used with something new)

Olympia
Lyrics by Roberto, music by Day Of Rising

I'll make sure to keep on drawing our own lines
Promise you'll keep in mind I'll trade my youth for a lifetime
Youth for a lifetime

We're the ones who flip scripts
Just to be kept inside of your memories
Don't you see, you're paying for routine
We invest in dreams

Crowds were looking from a distance
On the day your summer missed us
You would pay to see this sinking
Still you send us your best wishes
Didn't you know...

Chorus:

When you're sleeping with the rest
We make plans to save ourselves
You know that I would try to explain if you could understand
(Just close my eyes for seconds)

No I'll never feel again
If this fails then it's the end
Of what I am, just a name - only with better stories to tell
(A chancer with no future)

I'll be a good reminder
Of all of your attempts to keep us from turning into
All that you wished but never believed in

We're the senseless kids but
You made the right choice
One that will keep you safe until
The day your predictions turn into failures

In this place where traitors are crossed by hope
And we feel our lives are slowly
Fading Away

(Chorus)

Hello everybody!

After a while without updating this, I thought it would be nice to let you all know what is happening with the band.

First of all, we just posted a new track called Olympia, we recorded this song as well as another new one (which we will post next week) and a new version of Bring Us Back 7AM; for those of you who don't know the song, it was  the title track from our first EP, which we self-realeased in Spain quite a long ago. We recorded it again because we felt the sound quality on the old one was a bit poor. As a lot of people already bought the EP we are going to give this new version away for free, I'll post details of how to download it in the coming days

By the way, we recorded our new songs at
Ignition Studios in London with Lester Woodward, he's amazing we think everyone should record there because the studios rock (tell Lester we sent you so they might record us for free next time...or maybe not.)

There are also some sad news to tell: Dani, our bass player is leaving Day Of Rising. It's a decision he made a while ago and we totally respect it and will support him and wish him the best of luck with anything he does in the future.
At the moment we are looking for someone, we will tell everyone who the new member of the band is as soon as we know it!

We have some very cool gigs coming up and we will start adding more very soon, we hope to hit as many places as we can in the UK before the year ends so keep on cheking for new dates so you can come and hang out with us!

I'm off to sleep now, I swear I will try to update this more often...

Goodnight!

Roberto
