Hallo B-girls and B-boys! Here´s some new fresh reviews concerning our new album "Dramadadatic" We will posting new ones as they come in.
Undertoner (DK):
Beneva vs. Clark Nova: DramadadaticAf Jesper G. Kaufholz Beneva vs. Clark Nova: Dramadadatic How is Annie/FenêtreFormat: cd + downloadUdgivet: 2009Musikalske slægtninge:múm, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Kid LocoTags: eksperimenterende, electronica, indietronica, støjLinks:
- Beneva vs. Clark Nova
- How Is Annie

På ”Dog does eight impersonalities” hör man däremot Four Tet lätta folktronica eka någonstans i bakgrunden. No): Beneva v Clark Nova follow-up on joint How Is Annie/Fenêtre release» Published by trym on Nov 04, 2009![Beneva v Clark Nova - Dramadadatic [How Is Annie/Fenêtre] Beneva v Clark Nova - Dramadadatic](http://www.soundscaping.net/images/339t.jpg) Click image for more picturesARTIST: Beneva v Clark Nova LABEL: How Is Annie/Fenêtre YEAR: 2009 FORMAT: CD Hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed debut album, single cuts and 3” CD and each their own debut, solo album, Beneva and Clark Nova have got back together for their second album – Dramadadatic– which is out these days as a joint release effort between Oslo-based labels How Is Annie and Fenêtre Records. The duo is surely one of the most exciting outfits on the Norwegian electronic music scene at the moment, and have recently displayed they work just as great on their own with their solo ventures on How Is Annie. Here they are back in familiar style, but also with surprises and new tricks up their sleeves, as the energetic and unpredictable production duo with looped guitar and synth goodness, mashed up beats and crazy, electronic noises and weird, slightly distressing vocal samples at times. Their take on production bears witness of the unorthodox, producing a highly captivating 12-track album of diversity – no element is banned from use and across the duration of the album, the sounds sway from the most frenetic beats, jittery samples and sounds to wear you out, to the more melodic, ambient pieces set to warm and fuzzy guitar and accordion-like drones. And quite often the constituent pieces are just mashed together all at once and you are left quite mesmerised by how well it works. As difficult as the sequel supposedly is, Beneva v Clark Nova do not need to feel concerned at all about their production and are clearly back with a loud bang… and some melancholic drone. link: Hamar Dagblad (No): BENEVA VS.

HERE´S SOME CRACKING OR SPANKING GOOD NEWS. -Ann Kristincheck out the A-list here: http://www.radionova.no/listaThank you Radio Nova! And our dearest Harald Are Lund from NRK played and talked warmly about our new album lately.feed://podkast.nrk.no/program/harald_are_lund.rss You can listen to the whole program here; nrk_harald_are_lund_2009-1105-0203_40315.mp3?stat=1&pks=40315Ok, that´s all for now folks. Hey there! Here are some great news folks:
Bvs.CN was selected as "Band of the week" in this weeks edition of The Silent Ballet. And our song "Turning more zebra-like" were chosen as one of the tracks of the week.
Website | Music | Fenêtre Records | Buy
Norwegian duo Beneva vs. Clark Nova have been shaking things up over the last few years. Fenêtre Records brought us the lovely Flotsam/Jetsam and Sombunall, the latter of which ranked in as one of the top records of the 2008. Known for their unorthodox approach to electronica, BvCN use a kitchen-sink approach that utilizes anything and everything at the band's disposal, often mixing organic and digital sounds into an amazingly coherent whole. Dramadadatic breaks from its predecessor by moving further into the electronica camp; live instrumentation is often sampled so that it can be given the once through on the computer and modified to fit the duo's crazy creations. But what hasn't changed is the captivating nature of Beneva vs. Clark Nova's music. It's playful, thought-provoking, intimate music. Highly recommended.

Thanks to the staff at The Silent Ballet. You made us really happy on this grey and rainy monday! morning. Cheers.

Dear friends and supporters!
We are featured heavily in The Silent Ballet's yearly round-up! Our album Sombunall is listed as 2 in "Essential Electronica 2008" and 24 in "Top 50 Albums 2008", while the track '88 Kilos of Excrement' is placed 10 in "Top 30 Tracks 2008"!
Here..s what they wrote about Sombunall:
After the ambient minimalism of Flotsam/Jetsam, did anyone expect Beneva Vs. Clark Nova to produce an electronica album of such variation and depth? Sombunall is one of those albums that leaves a lasting impression on the listener; it bores deep within the emotional core and doesn't let go, so deep are the melodies that exude from each track. From the first second to last, there is a unique sound around every corner, but also a cohesion to Sombunall that ties everything together perfectly. (James Ould)
Beneva Vs. Clark Nova have a penchant for taking something as normal as a piano line, acoustic guitar note, or even the human voice and morphing it into something barely recognizable. These restructured organic sounds are the building blocks for the duo's debut full length, Sombunall. They accompany catchy yet subdued melodies all glued together by meticulously crafted 500bpm Autechre-inspired beats. There are many different facets waiting to be explored on this album; the excellent "88 Kilos of Excrement" or the dreamy pop tune "His Freefloating Affection" demonstrate the group 's wide versatility. With the talent and range these two have, it is a sure bet that we'll be hearing another incredible release from them sometime soon. (Brenton Dwyer)
And some nice words about the track 88 Kilos of Excrement:
After its melancholic opening, the whole tone of Sombunall changes the moment 88 Kilos of Excrement begins. The fractious twinkling opening gives way to deep synth throbs, IDM beats, and glitched up vocals (recalling 65daysofstatic's Fix The Sky A Little no less) layered over one another in perfect harmony, before strings and distorted drones complete the frenetic finale as it melts away with the twinkles that began the whole affair. 88 Kilos of Excrement captures Sombunall's essence in a nutshell: emotional, accomplished, and unique. (James Ould)
Thank you, thank you and thank you to everyone (you know who you are) for all your support. It..s been one heck of a year!!!
Love, Benjamin and Rudi

Hallo everyone! We are so proud to announce that we have contributed with a track called; Handfull Fists of Voices" on the new compilation for Ratskin Records called 13,000.00 MilliSeconds. Some of the other artists on the compilation includes; Matmos, Venetian Snares, Eats Tapes, Blevin Blectum and Migrations in Rust, to name a few. 13,000.00 MilliSeconds is a compilation featuring over 215 artists + musicians who composed thirteen second compositions especially for this release. This collection documents artists working all over the world, with these pieces having a reference to the "contemporary time famine" brought on by the technological complex of which none of us can escape from. These aural documents of justified schizophrenia fight fire with fire, and pry away at our rotting attention span.
You can order the CD from this site: http://www.ratskin.org/index2.html.
Or from their myspace site: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=145051417
Check it out, see ya! B vs. CN. Here..s what Aquarius Records wrote about the compilation: V/A (Triskaidekapohobia) 13,000.00 Milliseconds(Ratskin Records) cd 6.98 You know those Sublime Frequencies "Radio" compilations we love so much, the ones that just sound like someone sitting in a hotel room in another country flipping stations on the radio and recording the results. Well imagine a similar compilation, but in this case, the listener/recorder has an extreme case of ADD, and is flipping between some insane non existent all avant freaked out noise satellite radio station and all the strange little non-stations you discover when you're driving across the country, flipping through the dials at 4am. Little chunks of beautiful pastoral sound, bursts of ear gouging static, voices, snippets of speeches, some crazy guy testifying, some country or classical music that is just out of range so the sound is all skittery and blurred, delicate swaths of soft plinked piano, blasts of grinding deathmetal, talk radio, skittery rhythms, lots of textures and timbres, noises and melodies, most often swallowed up before they can develop into anything more than a fragment, than a partially formed musical thought, but that's sort of the point. This comp will definitely enrapturously engorge the ears of aural adventurers and noise devotees, but just might rattle the nerves of those less prepared. Despite the incredibly lengthy list of incredibly eclectic artists who participated in this brand new compilation titled (Triskaidekaphobia) 13,000.00 Milliseconds: Beneva vs. Clark Nova, Venetian Snares, Matmos, Thrones, MGR, I Am Spoonbender, Wildildlife, David Scott Stone (Melvins), Blevin Blectum, Winters In Osaka, Leslie Keffer, Microwaves, Sword Heaven, To Live And Shave In L.A., Wobbly, The White Mice, Skozey Fetish, Brad Laner, Rubber O Cement, Bobb Bruno, Cock ESP, Panicsville, Otto Von Schirach, Crank Sturgeon, Deletist, Drums Like Machineguns, Valerio Cosi, Eats Tapes, Evil Moisture, No Doctors, Two Dead Sluts, One Good Fuck, Leslie Keffer and about a million more.... The nature of 215+ 13-second compositions strung together non-stop without room to take a breath pretty much ensures that this cd will be catalogued in most libraries and music shops in the experimental/noise section. Unfortunate really, since while it definitely has its share of earwax-dislodging aggressive assaults, it also has quite a few shining moments of artful sound design and subtle songcraft that defy genre-fication. And somehow, the bits of noise, and the bits of prettier sound, do balance out, almost seeming to play off one another, or at the very least, slowly seep into each other, helping form what is ultimately a constantly shifting somewhat schizophrenic sonic whole. It's an overwhelming and intense listening experience, another one for the iron eared, or at least the adventure eared, and while we just listened to the whole thing all the way through, for the third or fourth time, for some folks it might work better in smaller chunks, because admittedly for some tracks the 13 seconds seems like an eternity, while others fly by all too swiftly. That said, we just started it over again from the top... MPEG Stream: "5 (Cheap Machines / Animal Hospital / Beneya Vs. Clark Nova)"
