DRUMS RECORDED FOR 9 NEW SONGS

After a week of intense work, we are now finished recording the drums for the upcoming BORKNAGAR album. All in all 9 songs have been recorded and we can assure you that this will be the most heavy, groovy yet diverse and atmospheric album to date!

David did a fabulous job adding his signature drum style to our music. Overall he crafted well balanced drum patterns in good BORKNAGAR tradition but added his sophisticated sense groove and precise way of playing. It sounds nothing but amazing!

BORKNAGAR will continue recording the album in mid February. Then the main focus will be the recording of clean and electric guitar. Bass will possibly be recorded as well. The album will be recorded sporadically but the session is planned to be finished by the end of April.
We are extremely excited about the material this time around as it will sound vital and fresh as never before. We are sure we again will breach some musical borders with our new monumental effort. So beware!

Announcement of new drummer- Dave Kinkade

 

Dave Kinkade is the new drummer in BORKNAGAR. His first appearance with the band will be the actual recording of the new album, which will be recorded early next year.

 

We are exited to finally get a new drummer behind the kit. We have spent quite some time and effort to find suitable and highly skilled replacement for Asgeir Mickelson. Dave has proven to be a fantastic drummer, become a good friend and he shares the same passion for music as the rest of us. We are truly confident that this cooperation will contribute to empower the music of BORKNAGAR even more in the future to come.

 

Dave Kinkade comments as follows:

"It is an absolute honor to be joining Borknagar. Norwegian black metal has always had a HUGE impact on my personal influences and taste in music. I look forward to making the new record with them and playing songs that I've been listening to for years. As a drummer, I trust that my playing will fit well with Borknagar's style and that I will not be letting any fans down with the final result."

 

Now, we are all exited to enter studio in late January to start recording the new album!

Indie Recordings is proud to announce the world class avant-garde metal act - CRONIAN.

 

CRONIAN is a project by Borknagar's main songwriter/guitarist Øystein G. Brun and Vintersorg and as fans of both musicians and their respective bands it's an honour for us at Indie Recordings to get to work on this amazing band. They made a serious impact on the scene with their 2006 debut "Terra" and their second album is now settled and ready for take off.

 

All the material is recorded at the band's respective studios and produced by the band in order to keep the artistic authenticity. But contrary to the debut, the band this time around decided to go to a professional studio(Ballerina Audio, Sweden) to mix and master the album. And that decision paid off big time. The album comes with a crystal- clean sound yet the production is aggressive and mighty with a unique overall atmosphere.  The new album will represent a musical boost of another world. A musical expedition that will challenge as well as please the listeners that dares to follow the band on their journey!

Asgeir Mickelson quits BORKNAGAR

Due to the latest years evolving differences in musical ideas and visions, Asgeir Mickelson has decided to quit BORKNAGAR. The spilt happens in friendly manner and with mutual respect for the decision that he has made. He will remain a good friend of the band.

We wish to thank him for a great collaboration over the years and the best of luck with future endeavours!

The split will have little or no effect on the schedule of the forthcoming album. We are currently working on pre- productions and we are heading for an early- next- year release.

As stated before, the new album will regain the musical forces that dominated the 4 first albums. So beware!
