For over a year, the One Nation Band has recorded every week "Live at The Buzz Bar".  It's finally time to let go of these special moments. We are teaming up with MySpace and Snocap to bring you the "unedited" recordings of our weekly documentations.  There will be loads of get-down-funky tracks featuring Detroit's finest musicians and singers, along with some hysterical "out takes".

If you, or someone you know, has sat in with the One Nation Band, drop us an email!   We will be sure to let you know when your performance is being featured on MySpace.

If you have not been to The Buzz Bar on a Thursday night (you know who you are), you better come soon and put your mark on history being made! All of the profits will be going to Katrina Hurricane Relief.

Until then, we will keep you posted on the progress of this venture.

In Time,
Larry Fratangelo

P.S. Don't forget to hit up my all-percussion group, Drum Devils, at www.myspace.com/suburbanpercussion as a friend on your MySpace.

P.S.S. Thanks for reading my monthly column called "Percussion Corner" featured in DrumHead Magazine.  It is definitely the magazine for serious drummers! And for those voyeurs, check out my on-line lessons at www.drumheadmag.com.

Last Thursday night, a little bit of Bob  Seger came to the Buzz Bar when members of the band showed up to hang and jam after their gig at Cobo.  Veteran singer, Shaun Murphy, blew the house down with her bluesy-rock voice, and was then joined by her partners, Lori, Barb and Thornetta, for their rendition of 'Natural Woman.'  Also in the house were Detroit's creme de la creme -- Keith Kaminsky (sax); Robert Tye (guitar) Dale Grisa (piano) and singer/songwriter, Michael King, among many others.   Kudos to Billy Love, who showed up at the end of the night to vocalese on a P-Funk tribute melange.

The One Nation Band records their live performances weekly, and will be sharing some of the highlights of last Thursday on myspace very soon.  Keep posted.

Thanks to everyone for their enthusiasm and love for the Funk.

Larry Fratangelo's "One Nation Under a Buzz" Band featuring Skeeto Valdez (drums), Jeremy Ellis a/k/a Ayro (keyboards), and Pathe Jassi (bass/guitar), was named BEST FUNK BAND in Real Detroit Magazine's "Best of Real Detroit 2007" Readers' Poll.

"Down on Larned Street in Detroit, there is a growing sensation that is sweeping the city.  Funk has come back with a fury, and it has taken over the Buzz Bar.  Every week, Larry Fratangelo leads the revolution and keeps Real Detroit Weekly readers dancing in the street with his jams.  As far as the man's cred, he is about OG as OGs can come.  Fratangelo, who was once a member of Parliament Funkadelic, brings the house down with his bad-ass funk every Thursday night."  [Feb. 28-March 6, 2007 Real Detroit Weekly]

The One Nation Under a Buzz Band appears every Thursday night at The Buzz Bar, located on Larned near Beaubien, Detroit.

The band plays a mix of Funk, Soul, Afro-Cuban and World Music, using these formats as vehicles to explore their musical pyrotechnics.

The first set features the quartet playing a mix of covers and originals.  The second set finds featured guests joining the band, which range from the best of local to national/international talent, making surprise(d) appearances.  Keep posted for a "Live at The Buzz Bar" cd to be released this Spring on Brother Angel's BAP Records .

When last call arrives, you will find the room full of excited fans, dancers, musicians -- not wanting the night to end!  Thank God for next Thursday.  See you then!
