WHY DOES THE ‘MIX TAPES’ SERIES - by TRAVIS BARKER AND DJ AM GET CASEY'S NIPPLES OF THE YEAR AWARD?
Both of their mixtapes are just so amazing and they have been the cd's that keep finding their way back into my cd player throughout this whole year. It is some amazing listening and if you haven't heard any of their stuff make sure you download their free mixtapes, they are so rad. RIP D JAM

WHY DOES ‘Keep it Hid’ - by Dan Auerbach GET WALSH'S NIPPLES OF THE YEAR AWARD?
Lead singer of the BLACK KEYS Dan Auerbach released his solo debut this year, and being a big Black Keys fan i had to give it a try and it truly blew me away. With more that a fist full of stellar tracks including "Trouble Weighs a Ton", "Whispered Words (Pretty Lies)", "When the Night Comes", "My Last Mistake", aaarrrr to be honest i was checking out the tack listing to maybe suggest my real favourite tracks but truly i would just have listed the whole album. Keep it Hid is an awesome album and i suggest that everyone checks it out.

WHY DOES THE ‘Peep Show’ TV series GET DYL'S NIPPLES OF THE YEAR AWARD?
TV Show - Peep Show
Album - Department of Eagles - In Ear Park
Single - Lou Christie & the Tammys - Egyptian Shumba
If that's cheating, then Peep Show has probably twisted me the most.

WHY DOES ‘The Ross Sisters - Solid Potato Salad’ GET AD'S NIPPLES OF THE YEAR AWARD?
I think this is definitely the best thing I have seen this year. I can't describe it without sounding a bit creepy, so its best you watch it to see just how amazing it looks and sounds.

WHY IS ‘Faith No More’ TWISTING CASEY'S NIPPLES?These guys are amazing. i saw them live in one of their first shows back together and they killed it. They rocked the festival and they were definately one of my favourite bands of the whole festival. Check them out for sure, they rock. ______________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘It's Egyptian Shumba’ - by Lou Christie & the Tammys TWISTING DYL'S NIPPLES?Listening to it is the only explanation required. ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘Tight Knit’ by Vetiver TWISTING WALSH'S NIPPLES?The first time I heard about Vetiver was at a Devendra Banhart gig in London in 2004 when Vetiver’s singer/songwriter Andy Cabic was part of Devendra live band. Vetiver’s music is lush and emotionally stirring folk music and was the spring board for my love of other bands such as Fleet Foxes. Vetiver are Folk by classification, Fun at heart and Powerful in direction, It seems to be a common trend in this month’s WHATS TWISTING OUR NIPPLES to direct you to find out for yourself why we are digging these things so, but sometimes it’s just better to find out for yourself. If you find yourself falling for Vetiver get yourself a copy of each album as you’ll find gems in each one and hear the band developing through each relase. p.s. check out ‘Amour Fou’ off their 2004 self titled album check out the VETIVERcheck out the FLEET FOXES________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘Asukusa Jinta’ TWISTING ABS’ NIPPLES?Here's another slice of Japan for ya. I'm digging the tattoo beats of Asukusa Jinta, a Japanese street marching band. These guys base their stuff on ye olde, 1930's era big band music, Japanese style (no msg), and incomporate elements of fuck-off punk, hard and furious rockabilly and, my favourite, the polka with super-fast happy-time ichi-ban brass melodies. Number one ichi-ban guarantee, arrrrrrround the world, why not? check out Asukusa Jinta________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘Tokyo Street Fashion’ TWISTING A.D.'S NIPPLES?I'm not going to try to explain how cool this is, just look at some examples: check out the TOKYO STREET FASHION

WHY IS ‘State of the Art’ – by the Hilltop Hoods TWISTING CASEY'S NIPPLES?State of the Art is a rad album. The whole album is amazing and there are a few tracks that i just can't stop listening to. Check out track number 12 - 'Fifty in Five,' this is easily my favourite track on the album. Check out the album, its so good and Hilltop Hoods are the kings of Aussie Hip Hop, they kill it. ______________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘Sound Awake’ - by Karnivool TWISTING CASEY'S NIPPLES?This is Karnivool's new album and it is awesome, i was a little sceptical when i first got the album on whether or not they could back up their last album 'Themata' but this album is awesome. The guys from Karnivool absolutely killed it. These guys are easily one of my favourite Australian bands, their albums are amazing and they absolutely kill it live. They're awesome, make sure you check them out. ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘White Rabbits’ TWISTING WALSH'S NIPPLES?I was torn this month; I have been listening to a number of different albums but I have made my choice. You may think that I have taken the easy way out but not fingering one album in particular, but it’s the “band” and their short but impressive back catalog that had been twisting me this month. Since the White Rabbits released their debut album fort nightly in 2007 I have been severely hooked on their sound. I’m always a sucker for heavy tom use in songs, fuck it! I’ll come clean, I’m a bass rhythm slut, and the white rabbits work it very well. Rhythms started on the piano then expanded by the bass and then exploded by the drums and brought back together by the vocals. I was a little worried about hearing their 2009 sophomore effort It’s Frightening, as they have touring quite extensively since their debut and some bands have trouble writing on the road. My fears that they may resort to recreating what worked so well on their debut were dispelled upon first listen. It’s Frightening is well crafted and produced; the band is learning and developing from album to album and not resting on prior successes, they were still able capturing the ‘raw rolling sea’ emotion that they had on fort nightly but now a little less water logged. I suggest for anyone who digs bands like SPOON (Ha I just researched a distant memory and confirmed that Brit Daniels lead singer of SPOON produced It’s Frightening how funny is that, I think so) Any who I suggest you get both fort nightly & It’s Frightening and start at the beginning and finish at the end. ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘The Boat that Rocked’ TWISTING ABS’ NIPPLES?I grew up listening to the LP'S of my parents, and those of my frinds and peers, but until I saw this movie, I don't think I truly appreciated what these tunes meant to an entire generation. Or, I'm thinking, I was just to young to understand. But, hindsight is a rosy coloured viewing glass in which we don't appreciate what we've got until it's too late... Goddammit, listen to Hendrix's "Wind Chimes Mary" and think about what it felt like to be a child of the 90's, nevermind the 60's... ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS ‘Babies’ – by Pulp TWISTING A.D.'S NIPPLES?I still love Britpop. The jangly guitar in the chorus background, the clean and simple guitar lines at the front, the soft synth doesn't even sound cheesy. My heart breaks with the line 'I only went with her cause she looks like you, my god!'. It's a line that's delivered really well.

WHY IS 'Pieces of the people we love - the RAPTURE' TWISTING WALSH'S NIPPLES?
I blogged earlier this about the departure of Mattie from the rapture and how saddened I was to see him go, and excited to see what the now 3 piece RAPTURE and what Mattie will now produce, I know neither parties will be sitting on their hands which is why I’m excited. As always, well with me anyway, I find a new tid-bit of info on a band or something I didn’t know about a song and I have to listen to that song or album as soon as I can. Which is why the RAPTURES 2006 album “pieces of the people we love” is twisting my nipples this time round. Now I must tell you why I guess…..fuck it I’m going to listen to it now all the way through and then come back to you………….41 min’s and 52secs later……THE POWER! THE BEAUITY! THE DANCEABLE POWERFUL BEAUTY! I love the opening to this album, I’m not saying it’s the greatest ever opening 30 seconds but it’s the perfect for this album. Personally this album is the perfect soundtrack to the sections of a great night out.
(Set the scene) You get home from work, You say ‘Fuck Dinner’ you heading into the city I might get something to eat a 3am, pull out your clothes for the night and stuff another t-shirt into a bag because your crashing on a mate floor and tonight’s shirt will be in no state for wearing in the morning. And you press play, enter track 1 ‘Don Gon Do It’ perfect night starter. Just as you’re about to jump into the shower track 2 ‘Pieces Of The People We Love’ comes on, you run back to your room and turn it up loud and this is music for organizing your look for the night. Out of the house, into the car, a few sips under your belt already and as you pull out of the drive way you light a smoke and hit play on track 3 ‘Get Myself Into It’ & BOOOOM! Those intro guitars slides make you feel like your transporting into another world. GONNA GET MYSELF INTO IT! what else should anyone be think as they head out for a big night? You jump out of your car at your destination and track 4 ‘First gear’ slides on in, and those crunchy synth lines sound like the calm before the storm. Into the taxi and your gone, OK now, your rapture night is interrupted by talk-back radio, the must of all taxi rides……..out of the taxi and into the place and on comes track 5 ‘the Devil’ jangly guitar riff complemented by a pure 80’s keyboard line sets the mood as you find your feet and see some people to meet. Up to the bar. buy 3 drinks. and 1 shot. 1 sharp and harsh whiskey. 1 vodka and OJ. 1,2,3 and drops track 6 ‘Whoo! Alright-Yeah... Uh Huh’ Fuck! if you don’t know what happens next listen to the track and you tell me. Track 7 and 8 are a blur and in the pace of the night they are meant to be, they are by no means songs to be forgot but that is just how it is, Track 7 ‘Calling Me’ is the music of a euphoric state of mind, your strong confident, sexy and, you are have a hell of a great time. Track 8 ‘Down for so long’ is time again for the dance floor to try out all those dance moves you have be working on in your mind for three months now. Not too fast paced so for those of you who are hitting the wall of the night, it’s a perfect groove for the slow build of endorphins that only the dance floor and the right tune to can bring. Track 9 ‘The sound’ I think for this time of a night out can only be surpassed by ‘swastika eyes’ by Primal Scream, I’m sorry I probably not painting a pretty picture, but by 4-5am your most likely not looking as together as when track 3 jettisoned you into party hyperspace , and it’s doesn’t matter, nobody as pretty at 5 as they were at 12, 4 hours is a long time. But 5am is the right time for ‘the Sound’. Its all action! Distorted guitars, Gremlin Synths, and a just enough power pack moments for 5 or 6 rounds of dance offs, perfect for the tough loves who are still with you while Mr Sun exposes the first glimpses of his morning glory. Last drinks were called an hour ago, now it’s time for EVERYBODY OUT! Motherfucker staff want to kick you out in the cold, they don’t understand, now you only have two choices, you believe you have millions, but the truth is you only have 2. Home/Bed or the ATM/self-destruct and as you step out in the light and the realisation you really do have only two choices, slow fade in Track 10 ‘Live In Sunshine’.

WHY IS 'It’s a Blitz – Yeah Yeah Yeah’s' also TWISTING WALSH’S NIPPLES?
“Yeah Yeah Yeah’s music sounds like a soundtrack to making love in a spaceship” this quote from my beautiful lady is the reason it’s twisted my nipples this month. Plus I know that Dyl had a nice little jive on the dance floor to the album opener ‘Zero’. If that isn’t enough ‘Hysteric’ has been stuck in my head for the last week. I read somewhere that Karen O told Nick Zinner that she didn’t want any guitars on this album, which surprised me considering Zinner’s axe wheeling being such a trade mark sound. Whether the reason for the ‘no guitar’ decision was simply a self imposed forcing of hand to try and expand on their sound or Karen O’s solo endeavors creeping its way into the YYY’s I don’t care, I have always like the YYY’s, guitars or no guitars 'It’s a Blitz’ has been on high rotation and I’m still loving it. ________________________________________________________________________
WHY IS ‘Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen’ TWISTING A.D.'S NIPPLES?
My favorite song as a child was 'Dancing in the Dark', I've moved on to this mix of dirty sax solos, ringing guitars and lyrics that are all cock and balls: 'Just rap your legs round these velvet ribs and strap your hands across my engines', 'Baby this town rips the bones from your back it's a death trap it's a suicide rap'. Fuck you Danza, he's the Boss!

Its a sorry day for poor old WALSH to find out the one of his favorite bands THE RAPTURE are seeing the departure of their bass player Mattie Safer. I saw THE RAPTURE at the prince of wales in Melbourne a while ago and must say it is one of my top live shows. The show does top my list of shows that left my ears ringing for days after which is beside the point. Mattie brought something amazing to the band and he will be sorely missed, but I'm sure it was for the best. I'm even more excited now to hear what the rapture come up with next as a three piece, they have never let me down thus far, and i'm certain they wont in the future. Only time will tell what success's Mattie will find in his new endevours, but i wish him all the best. -WALSH
**below is an article by Nick Holt and an interview with THE RAPTURES Luke Jenner. The Rapture have lost their bass player Words by Nick Holt 13 hours ago / Jul 24, 2009 at 10:10 Just last week, long-time Brooklyn based dance-punk band The Rapture announced that bassplayer/co-vocalist Mattie Safer was leaving the band. In a message posted on their website, the band posted this statement: "Dear Fans and friends, I’ve been meaning to catch you up on what’ s been going on in Rapture world. First off, I’m sad to say that at the beginning of April our buddy Mattie Safer decided to leave the band. We are sad to see him go but it seems it is the best for all of us. Since then Luke, Vito and I have been on a creative tear. We’ve been working out of our little Brooklyn make shift studio, writing, demoing and jamming. I’m pretty damn excited to share the fruits of our labor with you. But its still gonna be a minute before we hit the studio for real. On the other hand, I am very pleased to announce that the people of the great continent of Australia will be some of the first to hear some of our new material live, when we arrive late September for Parklife festival. In the meantime, keep an eye on this blog and another on your neighborhood dance party, who knows maybe we’ll be spinnin’. Lotsa Love, The Rapture" We caught up today with (now sole) vocalist and band founder Luke Jenner to discuss the 'No Sex For Ben' band's plans in the wake of the departure. TheVine writer Nick Holt asked the charmingly humble guitarist about the split: I hear Matt moved on from the band last week? Well, it wasn't exactly last week, we just sort of announced it last week because we wanted to make sure it was a permanent thing. He was really unhappy you know, and he seems a lot happier now and we've all been able to move on and do what we wanna do. For about 6 months there he was really upset and didn't wanna talk about it. When we did finally talk about it he said he'd been really struggling with it and wants to see what he can do on his own..I mean...basically, he moved out of his Mum's house and into our band and was in the band for like, 8 years. Was it amicable? We actually have a better relationship now then we probably ever had, cause of all the talking we've done. I've been able to say, if that's what you really want to do then I'm happy and I'll be there for you if you need me. Parklife fans breathe easy. The band will be here in September and October for the festival where they'll play as a three piece. More at myspace.com/therapture. From thevine.com.au. Posted By: The Vine

WHY IS Johnny Cash' TWISTING CASEY'S NIPPLES?

he is a legend. His music is amazing and I love the fact that he did a version
of nine inch nails' song 'hurt,' he killed that song it was so good.

WHY IS STEPHEN FRY' TWISTING DYL'S NIPPLES?
Stephen Fry - Just read one of his books and been watching a

some of it's very british but I like it

WHY IS 'A Love Extreme – Benji Hughes'
TWISTING WALSH'S NIPPLES?
....
For the same reason I love WEEN so much, the music kicks ass, the melodies are awesome, but the thing that tickles me just the right way with both these bands are the lyrics. The tunes are awesome but Benji Hughes could sing about a potato and make a woman cry. I don’t really know how to explain it, I guess……. hang on let me consult google and come back…………..No I checked and what I was going to say, it’s really not too accurate……………………Anywho….I just love the way Benji writes about his experiences, what he takes from a situation, whats important to him, well, what he feels important enough to sing about….. Yes Yes I think that’s what I’m trying to say, .... .. .. What twists my nipples about A Love Extreme is the details Benji sings about aren’t the stereotypical things. Most songwriters would disregard those characteristics as the crumbs of a person, Benji picks them all up and makes a “Bread Crumb Bread Person” which allows you to feel the characters more so, well that’s what I think anyway….the end ________________________________________________________________________
WHY IS 'Underground Soundtrack' also TWISTING DYL’S NIPPLES?
Underground is an album by Goran Bregović, and I’m hooked on songs like sheva. ________________________________________________________________________
WHY IS 'Nothing from Nothing – Billy Preston' TWISTING A.D.'S NIPPLES?
Nothing from Nothing, it's a Billy Preston song. There's nothng I don't like in this song. From the hilarious start to the honky tonk piano, the horns and the lyrics, it's a good time for everyone"....

WHY IS 'Re-mixes by Travis Barker' TWISTING CASEY'S NIPPLES? i am super into the travis barker remixes at the moment because it is a new way of approaching hip hop beats. i like the live drums he records and the way he gives the hip hop tracks he remixes a real rock sound. the tracks sound awesome with real drums. ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS 'Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the first Psychedelic Era' TWISTING DYL'S NIPPLES? .................... Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era is a compilation album of American garage rock singles released in the mid- to late 1960s. It was assembled by Jac Holzman, founder of Elektra Records, and Lenny Kaye, later lead guitarist for the Patti Smith Group. The original double album was released on LP by Elektra in 1972 with liner notes by Kaye that contained one of the first uses of the term "punk rock". It was reissued with a new cover design by Sire Records in 1976.....

WHY IS 'Dent May - The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele' TWISTING WALSH'S NIPPLES?
He play a Uke, sticks to the tradition cruise boat, Cocktail Party genre, with smart tongue in cheek lyrics. I love the feel of the genre which he is lending himself too, from its origination's made me feel free and happy and without a care in the world, the songs where always about the simple things that make our life so hard. I just really enjoy sticking the headphones off and enjoying this album. _______________________________________________________________________
WHY IS 'Blood Mountain - Madtodon' TWISTING AB'S NIPPLES?
My nipple's are being twisted by the mighty Mastodon album, "Blood Mountain". It's a heady blend of metal, psychadelia and prog-rock. Brilliant compositions and truly inspired extended forays into pure sound, these guys are not afraid to layer their songs so densely that it isn't until the 10th plus listen that you truly appreciate the scope of their work. And any band who has Josh Homme appear on a track and admit to illegally downloading the album has got some serious fucking street cred... whatever that means.
________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS 'Stage Names - Okkervil River' TWISTING A.D.'S NIPPLES? Great pop elements combined with heartfelt and poetically sophisticated lyrics means this is twisting my nipples

WHATS TWISTING OUR NIPPLES (March) WHY IS 'Blink 182 Reforming' TWISTING CASEY'S NIPPLES? Comming soon.... ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS 'Dan Deacon - Spiderman of the Rings' TWISTING DYL'S NIPPLES? Comming soon.... ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS 'Delta Spirit - Ode to Sunshine' TWISTING WALSH'S NIPPLES? This album is a really strange one for me, well not really to be honest, There is nothing new or fancy about this...actually i know why, its just full of really great tunes, Matthew Vasquez has a great voice and they recorded it themselves. It is a really amazing album, what i was trying to say at the start was that its nothing new music wise nothing you can really put your finger on to make it outstanding in some new amazing music sort of way, its just a very solid album that i have fallen inlove with and i wish i had of seen them and Cold War Kids when they tour Oz together, I'm kicking myslef. ________________________________________________________________________ WHY IS 'Robot Chicken Star Wars' TWISTING AB'S NIPPLES? "Gooten Tag, I'm kicking arse and chewing bubblegum. My nipples have been twisted by "Robot Chicken Star Wars". Best parody ever. Check out the Admiral Ackbar Cereal advert, and like me you'll be yelling "It's a Trap!" in a gravelly voice at the top of your lungs at family members and primary school children. Say it with me people! "Our tongues can't repel firepower of that magnitude!"."
