Good people

It's been a class year and no mistake.

Shenanigans surrounding the release of our single 'Menolick' were resoundingly positive.

Thanks to all who attended Glasgow and Edinburgh launch gigs and have downloaded the track. We appreciate your support.

Our audio  technicians are working on the next single and second album, forthcoming in the first half of 2010.

Is that specific enough?!

It's wall-to-wall sonic bangers already.

Hello to myspace visitors who are starting to emerge from Iceland, Ireland, italy, Spain, Latvia , France, India and 9 states of the USA :)

Let us know who you are and what you're all about in 2010.

Happy festivities to all

NNT

Hello Teamsters

a frantic November awaits us all.

NNT's debut single 'MENOLICK' will be released on 30th November as a download-only. Available from the usual suspects (your iTunes, Amazon, Napster types), myspace and www.permwhale.com

This is an uptempo reworking of the seasoned live belter which has already received airplay from Radio 1, BBC 6music, German and US stations (as befits the self-proclaimed 'UN of Pop').

Come and celebrate with us at two launch gigs:

21st November supporting GOLDHAWKS at Glasgow's beyond-legendary KING TUT'S WAH WAH HUT. £6. It'll be memorable.

28th November at Edinburgh College of Art's WEE RED BAR. 7-10pm. £5 entry includes single download and entertainment from Edinburgh pop magicians COLLAR UP and LIMBO/TROUBLE turntable maestro HOBBES. Oh, and us as well :)

NNT recently featured on this 'THREE FROM LEITH' podcast http://lnk.ms/2Vsl6

surely enough to be getting on with...

NNT thanks everyone who turned out for the London gigs. It was a stimulating and enjoyable trip down south. Highlights included the fevered septegenarian dancers at the Friday gig, watching Fearne Cotton getting papped outside our hostel and a large crowd of protestors on Whitehall which appeared to be chanting 'NNT!...NNT!...NNT!'. That's what it sounded like to us, anyway.

Autumn gigs are being arranged at the moment. Glasgow Maggie May's is a definite on 25th September. A few Edinburgh dates to be confirmed and a trip to Paris is imminent. Start saving now :)

The 'Menolick' single saga continues. This will be available as a download-only some time in November. There might be the odd cheeky cd copy knocking about at gigs too.

Thanks too to all those who supported us by downloading 'An Innocent Abroad'. This is still available at www.pemwhale.com/nightnoiseteam/

At last count, 15 tunes are in various stages of completion for our 2nd album. This might be called 'Nuit Blanche' or maybe 'Qu'est ce que c'est le craic?' and should be out in Spring 2010. Other album title suggestions gratefully received :)

Finally, NNT-related supergroup Black Sea Sailors has finished a demo ep which is sounding magnificent. Mixing and mastering is being finalised in a bunker on Edinburgh's notorious westside.

Good stuff

another in our irregular news flashes :)

1. Sean et Fabien stormed the citadel that is Leith Fm a fortnight ago and were interviewed for La Francaise by the lovely Corinne. Fab did most of the talking and Sean looked on in awe. Listen here www.permwhale.com/NNTRadio.mp3 if you speak French :)
Additionally, a Hamburg station played 'Menolick' from the Limbo Live compilation cd. Internationalists!

2. 'Menolick' single will appear in September. We're letting the kids roll around in the festival mud first.

3. gig at the Ark in Edinburgh was spellbindingly good. Youtube evidence will be posted soon, we hope.

4. Dundee gig at Drouthy Neebors has been moved to July 4th. A Saturday night, you know what to do.

5. crazed offshoot project Black Sea Sailors will dock at the Ark, Edinburgh on 14th June. First studio offering is up now at www.myspace.com/blackseasailors

6. Limbo Live cd has been well-reviewed around Scotland. Most of the critics wouldn't give us the steam off their cup of tea but the Daily Record mentioned us positively (see previous blog).

Top one!

Scottish Daily Record Review of Limbo cd is thus, my friends:

'What a brilliant snapshot of Scotland's hottest new musical acts.
Limbo, the club night at Edinburgh's Voodoo Rooms, have excelled
themselves. The inaugural live CD has 14 of our greatest hopes. And
really I'm raking my brain to think who isn't on it. It kicks off with
Zoey Van Goey's menacing lovesong City Is Exploding. Next up is one of
my favourite new bands Found and their electrofunk folk When You Fall.
And still they come. Punch & The Apostles' gypsy ramble Asylum is taut
and lively. Sparrow And The Workshop's Last Chance has Kate Bush's
banshee call while Isosceles, Cancel The Astronauts and Thieves In
Suits all show that Scottish jangular art rock is alive and strumming
furiously. Glaswegian duo Over The Wall's A History of British
Welfarism 1945-1984 is for me the album highlight - a history lesson
you can dance to. Then there's Come On Gang's Irish folk rock take of
The Cranberries - but faster and our old (although they are young)
pals Haight-Ashbury whose blend of hippy rock just gets better and
better. The album ends with the raw Cure sound of Night Noise Team's
Menolick. Limbo - this is a triumph.'

What does it all mean, eh?

An update to some, stating the fucking obvious to others :)

1. NNT working hard to get the single version of MENOLICK operational. Fab has cracked the edit and mixology. Everyone trying to get their heads around selling their asses to the masses. It's all showbiz from here on in...Release date either late June or after summer festivities.

2. Speaking of MENOLICK, a live version has just appeared on LIMBO LIVE 01, a
compilation of 14 bands based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, although certainly not all Scottish. This is available for not much outlay at www.limbolive.co.uk (or click on the link on ourspace page). MENOLICK sits proudly at the end, a climax of sorts, an injection of much-needed muscle into proceedings. Repeat to fade 'Night Noise Team is not an art school project'...

3. An appearance on local radio for some of the lads. The show:'La Francaise', the station: Leith FM (98.8), the date: 13th May, 7-9pm.

4. Road trips in June. NNT meets the people at various non-Edinburgh locations throughout next month. Dundee, Lanark, Glasgow so far. We are looking forward to getting the fuck out of Dodge and playing to strangers.

5. More familiar faces to be beheld at The Ark on Friday, May 22nd. Due onstage 3rd which usually means 10ish. It's not an exact science though. Pop down and dance with furious abandon. NNT responds well to your energy.

6. Mysterious side project BLACK SEA SAILORS escapes for another gig at the Ark on Sunday, 14th June. The first time BSS docked, it was an enthralling mixture of primitive rock music, comedy monologue and other genres that have yet to be defined.
Onstage first at 8.30ish.

Thanks for listening

So, another version of what happened at gig at Edinburgh's Limbo pop factory. From Scotland's 'The List' magazine...

'The changing seasons of Scottish music can be hard to judge,
although there’s little doubt we’re heading back into summer right now.
So let’s enthuse about one reason why; Findo Gask, the Glasgow-based
quartet who steadfastly defy easy categorisation. Singer Gerard Black
carries off the pinched pout of Morrissey channelled through the
polished soul croonerisms of Martin Fry, while around him his band
direct the spirit of Vince Clark into the dancefloor aesthetic of
Modular Records. Like nothing you’ve ever heard before, and gloriously
so. Really.
Much music appears pale when held up to the Findos’
light, but both supports here had their moments. Rather unhelpfully
backed by a video projection reminiscent of the titles to Roy Walker’s
Catchphrase, Edinburgh’s Night Noise Team creditably stretch for the
epic, although their best feature is singer Sean Ormsby’s
richly-accented vocal. Babygod, meanwhile, have received positive
notices for their literate and sincere (possibly overly so)
songwriting. It could go either way; Radiohead or The Unbelievable
Truth, that is.'

It's good...but it's not right, pal

This review appeared in Edinburgh club Limbo's on-line newsletter:

'Night Noise Team exhibited heavier shades of the influece of The Smiths than i'd ever perceived before, well, heavier shades of Morrissey in singer Sean's vox before, to be accurate. Which is no bad thing and i'm sure he wouldn't object to such a comparison, particularly from a lyrical perspective. And it's possibly in the lyrical department that Night Noise Team are most rewarding, possibly...

And, if singer Sean is NNT's Mozzer, then bassist Fabien is definitely the band's Johnny Marr, with these two forming the core singer-songwriter partnership at the heart of the band. Not to do any disservice to guitarist Marco and drummer Mike, though, both of whom bring their own accomplished musicianship to the table and ensured that Night Noise Team sound and look every bit the band on the make.

Sean's confidence has really grown and they are clearly feeling pretty relaxed as they try out a new song, The Gift, on the Limbo crowd and it goes down pretty well. We look forward to hearing more of that new material the next time they play.'

Thanks to these charming men, Dave and Andy, for having us.
