Rose’s Pawn Shop Friends and Family,

We have some very important and exciting news to share with you.

It’s a very busy and exciting time here at Rose’s Pawn Shop. We just started our 2 month Thursday night residency at The Redwood Bar in downtown Los Angeles and we’ve been writing many new songs to showcase during our weekly shows there. And we’re beginning work on a Southwest and Colorado tour for February and a large national tour next summer.

However the most exciting item on our agenda currently is we are scheduled to go into the studio the first week of January with the amazing veteran music producer and engineer Ethan Allen. Ethan has produced, worked with and recorded a large collection of amazing artists. Emmylou Harris, REM, Patty Griffin, Daniel Lanois, Gram Rabbit, The 88, to name a few. It’s an understatement to say that we here at Rose’s Pawn Shop are extremely excited to have him on board for our new album.

We anticipate that we will have the album completed between March and May of 2010 and can’t wait for you all to hear all the great new tunes.

It’s no mistake that we inform you of this great news at the beginning of the holiday season. The season of giving. As you can imagine putting out a great music album takes a lot of hard work, focus, dedication, and MONEY. And it’s this last point we’d like to bring to your attention today.

We take great pride in being a hard working independent band, but as such we don’t have at our disposal all the resources that some of our big label musical compatriots have to get their songs out to the public. In order to raise the amount of capital we need to make this next Rose’s Pawn Shop album everything it can be, we’re reaching out and asking for help from you, our Rose’s Pawn Shop Family, Friends, and Fans.

For recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, album replication/packaging, and publicity we’re looking at a minimum budget of around $22000. A pretty nice chunk of change that we currently do not have in the RPS coffers.

We realize that with the state of our current economy it may be the worst time ever to reach out and ask for your financial support. However, any small (or large) contribution can make all the difference.  Understand, that with the amount that we’ve already raised, if just over 1000 fans buy a pre-order CD for 15 dollars, WE'D MEET OUR GOAL!

If you feel in your good natured and generous heart that you are able and would like to help us raise these funds, we offer you the following 9 EXCITING options to help us reach our goal and deliver you a fantastic album:

1.       $15 – Pre-sale copy of the new album. You can purchase an advanced copy of the album before it’s out. Once the album is ready for release we’ll mail it to you first before it hits the stores and the internet.

2.       $20 – Throw in a generous extra $5 for good measure and we’ll send you a pre-order copy of the CD and 2 Rose’s Pawn Shop stickers.

3.       $25 - Signed pre-order copy of the CD and 2 Rose’s Pawn Shop stickers. We’ll mail you a copy of the new album signed by each band member before it hits the stores and the internet.

4.       $50 – Signed pre-order copy of the CD, a Rose’s Pawn Shop T-Shirt and 2 Rose’s Pawn Shop stickers.

5.       $100 – Signed pre-order copy of the new CD, Rose’s Pawn Shop T-Shirt, 2 Rose’s Pawn Shop stickers and a personalized handwritten letter from the Rose’s Pawn Shop band member of your choice.

6.       $1000 – Signed pre-order copy of the new CD, Rose’s Pawn Shop T-Shirt, as many Rose’s Pawn Shop stickers as you’d like, and voucher for 1 hour private performance by Rose’s Pawn Shop for your(private party, wedding, bat mitzvah, etc),  -or- 5 years of 2 free tickets to any Rose’s Pawn Shop show nationwide.

7.       $2000- Signed pre-order copy of the new CD, Rose’s Pawn Shop T-Shirt, as many Rose’s Pawn Shop stickers as you’d like, and voucher for a 3 hour private performance for your (private party, wedding, bat mitzvah, etc),  -or- 10 years of 2 free tickets to any Rose’s Pawn Shop nationwide.

8.     Donate any denomination of your choice toward the cause. $1, $10, $20, $22,000. You decide what you can give to support Rose’s Pawn Shop and independent music.

9.       Become an investor in the album. Make a profit from your investment in Rose’s Pawn Shop. Please contact us via email at paulgivant@yahoo.com to find out more information about this exciting business opportunity.

You can make your generous and secure pre-order purchase of the album and/or donation through our web site here:

Hey Friends,

We've had quite a few fine bass players come and go since the fabulous Derek Asuan-O'Brien left RPS for the Peace Corps a year and 1/2 ago. We're grateful for all the fine players who have sat in and filled the role since Derek's depature but now we're looking for that really special someone to join the RPS fold. Help us spread the word. If you know someone who might be interested please send them our way.
And feel free to re-post our ad below.

Much love and thanks,

Rose's Pawn Shop

If you're an upright bass player looking for an already established group that is active, and playing and working hard this may be the gig for you. High-energy bluegrass/punk/rockabilly/alt-country band Rose's Pawn Shop is seeking an incredible upright bass player for LA area shows and a month long festival and club tour this July. Must be able to play slap-style and have great intonation and time. Please have professional tour-ready rig.

Would like to find somone who wants to jump on board quickly and get ready for upcoming April and May shows.

Since 2006 Rose’s Pawn Shop has established itself as a favorite national touring band through extensive club, theatre, and festival touring throughout the United States on several national tours, in addition to several mini-tours throughout California and the Southwest. Please visit our web site and myspace for more info on the band and to hear some of our tunes:

http://www.rosespawnshop.org
http://www.myspace.com/rosespawnshop

Ideally we are looking for a bass player who is a team player, who is easy to get along with and sit in a van with for hours at a time, knows how to have a great time, and has great chops and creative input.

We currently have bass players we gig with that are professional and excellent. We’d like to find someone who is interested in becoming a full time member of the RPS team. We’re always interested in meeting other great bass players for our gig call list, but ideally we’re looking for more commitment than a hired gun.

This is a paid gig.

Sample of some of the great festivals we're already in the line up for this year:

Please E-mail if interested and if possible include links to or mp3s of your playing.

Looking forward to speaking with you.

Thanks for reading ya’ll!

We just got home from opening for Jack White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler's new super-group The Raconteurs at the Henry Fonda in Hollywood.

We want to thank the boys and 'their people' for treating us so well and for inviting us to play. They were all amazingly rad and put on an INCREDIBLE show. They're really, really, really good.

If you haven't heard them yet, check them out at http://www.theraconteurs.com/.

Go buy their album and see them live. Trust us...

Hey kids!

Listen to X Country, station XM 12, on XM Satellite Radio…they’ve added ALL THREE songs from our demo into rotation. Tons of thanks to Jessie Scott for her support!

Here's a link to their site: http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=12

We’re not sure which program will play us or when, so you’ll have to listen to everything! If you hear us, please send us a message and tell us when and what program just in case we miss it.

Thanks!
