I don't want to hear all the lines about how we've had a really mild
winter and that we really need some snow....it was still 11 degrees this
morning! I want warm weather, spring rains, outside shows, flowers
blooming, bike riding. Springtime: take me away!

The Handymen are ready for spring, too, AND they are ready to rock. I
really want you to give them a chance. Maybe country jazz isn't the best
way to describe them in order to get you to attend a show. Let's try this:
"Free pool! Cheap booze! Pretty girls! Hot licks! (guitar) Come see the
Handymen on Thursday night. 7PM. $0 They're as handsome as they are
handy."

OMG, you like totally have to come on Friday night! THE PERPETRATORS are
from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and they play "blues for people who hate
blues". Sign me up! No harmonica. No Folsom Prison Blues. Just really good
music. They played last year to a crowd of about 10, so let's double it
this year! They deserve it. Tune in to hear them on Live at Lunch on
KRFC-FM at www.krfcfm.org on Friday afternoon from 12Pm - 1PM. You CAN
take my word for how fun the show is going to be. It's a bargain at $5.
9PM.

Speaking of awesome bands, Stoney LaRue and the Arsenals will be at Swing
Station on Saturday night. This was a late addition to our line-up, but we
are ever so pleased! Stoney LaRue has been on the ShinerBock tour with our
friends Corb Lund & the Hurtin' Albertans. He plays 'red dirt' music,
which I take to mean Texlahoma-inspired country rock. I've listened to
him, and he's real good. Sounds real nice. It's super neato to have him
stop and play our tiny little venue. I hope to see you out there
supporting live music! It's worth every penny of the $15. 9PM showtime.

Seriously, folks, if you ride your bicycle to Swing Station, you may enjoy
a $2 micro draft (except Biere de Mars). Anytime! Just put on your helmet,
slide into your spandex shorts, fill up your water bottle with everclear,
and ride the trail on out. We're only a 1/4 mile from the Poudre Trail,
and it's all downhill back to Fort Fun-ny.

It's pretty awesome, all right. Here's the skinny. The Perpetrators will be here on Friday night, and I couldn't be more excited! They are from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and they are going to perform on live at lunch, 12 - 1, on krfcfm.org. Tune in!! It'll be fantastic.
Unbelievably, Stoney LaRue is playing at Swing Station on Saturday night. He's an integral part of the "red dirt" music movement from the TX and OK area. Stoney has a fantastic band, and he is a natural musician and songwriter. I hope to see you there!
Come and check out the bar. It looks different. Tell Brad & Jason how much you like the changes.
Remember, $2 micro drafts (except Biere de Mars) if you ride your bike. It's only a 1/4 mile from the trail. Tell your cyclist friends.

We have New Belgium's special release beer, Biere de Mars, on tap right now! I don't know how long it will be available to us, so come and get it while the gettin's good!
Thursday, March 05, 2009
We got a new bike rack, we're working on another, we're a short 1/4 mile from the Poudre Trail, and it's spring time in the rockies. Ride your bike out here (please wear your helmet!), and enjoy $2 micro drafts. The tasty treats included are: New Belgium's Sunshine Wheat, Fat Tire, and Mighty Arrow; and Odell Brewing's 90 Shilling, 5Barrell, and Easy Street. Hello Spring!
Monday, March 02, 2009
I love spring anyway, but this March is gonna be really awesome! Here are some highlights.

The first weekend, March 6 & 7, is going to get the spring party started right. On Friday, March 6, the one & only Billy Pilgrims will play. They play a fantastic set of bluegrass first, featuring Erin & Aaron Youngberg and David Ritchey formerly of Hit & Run Bluegrass, and Caleb Roberts formerly of Open Road Bluegrass Band. For the second set, the band trades in the bluegrass for some old school honky tonk numbers that really rock! On Saturday, our rock 'n roll house band, Gordon Green, is going to play for tips. Saturday night, no cover charge, and rock 'n roll?!?! What could be better!

On Friday, March 13, is one of my favorites!!! I mean it this time. The Perpetrators is a blues duo from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. They are on their way to SXSW, and they are as nice as they are talented. The Perps played here last March to a pretty smal crowd that was totally wowed! I hope you make it out to see this band that plays 'blues for people who hate blues'.

St. Patrick's Day is on a Tuesday this year, and we'll drink Irish beer and eat corned beef & cabbage. Gordon Green will play, and everyone will have fun!!

The 20th & 21st feature two fantastic local bands. On Friday, March 20th, Cowtown will perform. This band features veteran musicians, including Ron Lynam, pounding out acoustic sets of bluegrass, country, and swing. Then on March 21st, new bluegrass band, Blue Grama, will really energize the room. They are young and exciting.

Sunday, March 22nd, is a special treat at Swing Station. The Clumsy Lovers, of Vancouver, Canada, will make their second appearance at Swing Station. It's an entertaining evening of folk rock! Yeah!

The LaPorte Brothers Bluegrass Band will round out the month on March 28. It really is bluegrass. Really.

Stay tuned for April events. It's going to be fantastic! Here's a couple of things to look forward to: James Intveld, Cousin Harley, IIIrd Time Out, Fort Collins Music Experiment, Jeff & Vida, and many, many more!

This is going to be a week for the record books! Five nights of truly fantastic music, all for a total of $17 of cover charges. You can't beat that with a stick! It starts on Tuesday, the 10th, with Shannon Whitworth from North Carolina. She played in the Biscuit Burners, and she has now moved on to front her own trio of roots music. 8PM, $10. On Wednesday, the Happy Honkies are baaaack! Yee Haw! I've missed 'em, and I'm sure that you have, too. Honky tonk that's genuine. 8PM, $0. On Thursday, of course the Handymen will be here. That's sweet country jazz at 8PM for $0. We'll have our Friday afternoon rockabilly happy hour session, featuring Rodney James, Jim Gordon, John Kennedy, and Brad Folk. They play from 5 - 7. It's free, and we offer drink specials, too. On Saturday is my favorite event of the year: Valentine's Day. This year, Halden Wofford & the HiBeams will perform their incredible brand of honky tonk hits. We'll give out sexy door prizes throughout the evening and offer drink specials. The party starts at 9PM, and there is a $7 cover charge. Come on out on Sunday evening for the Bluegrass Jam. It starts at 7PM, and there is no charge. Whew. Tonight you should get your beauty rest, because this week is gonna be a doozy!

Nobody wants to be the first person at the party; that's why we're starting our bands at Swing Station on Friday, October 10. Fasten your seatbelt: the weekend coming up in LaPorte is a DOOZY!

I'm so pleased to announce that the Texas Sapphires will be up here on Friday, October 10. They are a fantastic band from Austin. They've played with just about everyong. Rebecca has such a strong presence on stage, Billy Brent is super hot!, and they play truly rockin' dance numbers. It's only $5, and the show starts at 9PM.

On Sunday night, October 12, we have a real treat in store for you! Casey James Prestwood and the Burning Angels with opening band Band of Annuals will start around 9PM. I am really looking forward to this show! Casey played steel with Drag the River for several years, and he has great original music in the vein of Gram Parsons. If you like alt country, then Swing Station is the place for you to be on Sunday night. Bring it on! 9PM, $5

It just gets better. From Vancouver, the CLUMSY LOVERS, will be at Swing Station on Tuesday, October 14. They are an eclectic, internationally recognized band. They are known for their stage antics and intense musicianship. Described as a powerful collision of celtic and bluegrass, the Clumsy Lovers will really knock you out. Please come! 8PM, $5.

PS Get your costume ready! It's become a tradition at Swing Station to have Halden Wofford & the HiBeams host our Halloween party and costume contest. You better have a good one if you want to win fabulous prizes! Friday 10/31!

XOXO

Kristy

There is alot going on out here in LaPorte as usual. September brings changes, celebrations, and good music!

We are expanding our hours, and beginning on September 1, Swing Station will open at 11AM everyday for tasty lunches! Be sure to stop by and try a sandwich. We use the freshest ingredients, homemade sauces and spreads, and delicious bread from the Olive Street Bakery.

Swing Station will also celebrate it's 3rd Birthday on September 17 with our house band, either the Happy Honkies or the Handymen. It will be a great time. I can't decide if time flies or stands still sometimes. We have only been here for three years, but already you don't know what else to do on the weekends.

The music for September is a very eclectic lineup. It includes local favorites like Trucker's Daughter and also three different bands from Louisiana, Black Cat & Little Dogs, Bryan Lee, and Jeff & Vida. The genres range from honky tonk to bluegrass to rockabilly to zydeco to New Orleans blues to Americana. You will definitely find something you like. Make sure you stay posted to myspace to see who is coming up next!

Many thanks for all of your support. See you soon.
