Current mood:  exhausted
I was gone for 10 days and oh what a 10 days it was!

Here are the highlights:

Wizard World Chicago....
1. Kevin's brother Don and Jodie from Wizard hooked up us boardies with VIP tickets for Kevin's Q&A on Sat.
I had lots of fun passing them on to the boardies.
If they already had a ticket, I had them pay it forward to another VA fan.
They just had to have no ticket and wearing something VA.

2. A really cool thing happened before Kevin's Q&A on Saturday.
They had let us in insanely early since Trailer Park never happened.
Jodie had 2 rows in front to the right sectioned off for the VA VIP's.
After a chunk of our group was seated, one of the other guys in charge wanted to put the 4 Platinum VIP's on the beginning of our section.
I moved a few fans over to our side from the front row on the other side, since I had a couple of extra VIP tickets left.
All he had to do was add one extra seat.
This guy was still trying to argue with me and Jodie.
After calming explaining what really need to happen, he finally relented.
After he walked off Jodie looked at me liked...Wow and was very impressed how I had handled the situation.
I guess this guy has a real power trip and never budges an inch for anyone.
I looked over at Jodie and told her...
"Didn't you know I have worked and help run Sci-Fi Cons for the past 10 years?"
Immediately she says, "You're coming to Philly and work for us, right?"
Then very quickly added in "Chicago too?"
So it looks like I just may be working for Wizard World Philly and Chicago for Wizard next year.
I did it all in my Pooh Bear slippers. :D
Funny thing about it...those Platinum VIP's never did show up.

3. I got my pic in Comic Book Resources on Sunday
Liana and I

I am with Liana she has a show on G4 Wed nights at 12:30.
The funny thing is I caught her show just before I left for con.
Ed the Sock.
She is a total sweetheart and talked to her for 20 minutes on Friday, then Sunday she signed a card for Capt Jack since I told her how jealous he had been.

4. Getting autographs and a pic with 2 of the Dragon Ball Z voiceover peeps on Saturday before the Q&A.

Red Bank Signing and Clerks Screening
1. I got into Red Bank at 6:30 pm...
Getting let right in to the store with 2,000 MySpace kids outside.
Everyone in VA knew I was making the trip from Chicago to Red Bank driving.
So when I got to the store I dropped my stuff off with Jewaskew and went to the front of the store just to let Ming or Michael aka helpermonkee knew I got there safely.
I didnt know the guy at the door so I called Ming (got to love cell phones!)
Ming asked why I wasnt in the store and told him the guy didnt know me. Ming told me to hand my cell phone over.
A few seconds later, I am getting a huge smile, door being held open for me and being handed back my cell.
I go in talk to Ming and Michael for a few and saw two of my friends Chivas in Omaga in there.
I said a quick hi to Kevin, then was ready to head out the door and get in line with JewAskew and the other boardies.
Jen came in to grab Ming to get the boardies right in.
I <3 Jen.
She came in to get Ming cause she didnt want to get mobbed for grabbing us few boardies.
I go out with them to get my stuff and we sweeped up the VA boardies.
We get let right in the store.
We was waiting in line and Michael said only 3 items...especially you Karla.
So I went though and picked out 3 things, my Degrassi DVD cover my Daredevil SE cover and th Clerks II comic that I got while at Chicago that was a con exclusive.
I get my stuff signed, Kevin and Michael were drooling over the new comic since neither one of them had seen it before.
I gave one to Michael and tried to give one to Kevin.
Kevin then grabbed the rest of the comics and signed them all.
I was putting my stuff up when I had noticed my Daredevil cover got smugged.
I spewed out a long list of expletives that had Kevin take a step back and huge wide eyes.
He was a total sweetie and resigned it then told me go put it over on the table to dry.
Capt Jack had the banner that Gavin was sweet enough to get for me.
We roll it all out (it is a 5' X 7' banner, the Jay & Silent Bob one from Clerks II)
Kevin borrowed my back and started to sign it.
I told him to quit tickling my back with his pen. :D
After we get our stuff all put away, we thank Kevin and head out the back door to where my Jeep was parked.
We got all our stuff put away and smoked a bowl. (Thanks JewAskew)
We took the long way around the building to avoid the MySpace kids, we got to Dublin House at 7pm and stayed till 1:30 am.
We drank, we ate, we had the most awesome time!
For the first time in VA history I got totally and completely drunk. =)

2. Tuesday was a perfect day other then a few minor snags.
Beautiful weather, perfect setting (a park right on the water with million dollar homes right across the way)
Excellent people to hang out with...
It was wonderful seeing a bunch of my old friends and new.
Even old friends meeting for the first time. (hi whocareswhosentthepaper!)
I truly love my VA family!

3. Courtyard Marriott in Red Bank, one of the best hotels I have stayed at and I will never stay at another hotel in Red Bank again.
MMMMMMMM Hot tub, excellent staff, awesome coffee, fantastic breakfast and warm cookies. =)

4. Dublin House. The best pub in Red Bank.
I was there every day (but Wed the day I was holed up in the Marriott relaxing.)
TOM!!!!!!!!!

5. To all my favorite VA friends.
Thank you for all the drinks, meals, places to sleep and Capt Jack for driving 85f the time.
That helped me out more then I can express sir.

6. Last but not least to Kevin Smith.
With out you sir, I would not have taken this trip.
Thank you sir for everything you do for us.
You truly go out of your way for your fans.

Yesterday after being on faire grounds for 3 1/2 hours, I got a part time job at faire & a job for after faire!!!

Well I finally took my Jeep in to be fixed.
My long list of items included...
Tune-up
Oil Change
Alarm ripped out
Passenger window to be fixed (they had to put a new gear in)
Air conditioner to be recharged
Front and Back brakes fixed
Lastly track down my electrical problem as something kept draining my battery dry.

So far the total is $1200, but it will go up a bit more today since they have to check out like 4 things to find which one is draining my battery and they are not easily accessible. Oh joy.

I hope to have my sweetie back tomorrow.

Current mood:  drained
Me and Adam get up fairly early but we had some time to kill before we had to head back to La Guardia to pick up Kat.
So we had a relaxing morning and I got a shower in.
About an hour or so before we had to be there we walk down to Radio Shack to pick up the gold-ended cords for Adam's Entertainment center.
We get to La Guardia on time, but unfortunately Kat's plane is running an hour late.
So while we sit outside, so I can smoke.
Adam gives me a live Stephen King reading.
Two O'clock rolls around and Kat's plane finally lands.
We get her luggage and head out to the New Yorker.
After we get Kat settled in, we all decide to head to Times Square to go to this BBQ joint that Adam had been raving about. On our way we get stopped by this guy that is pimping out tickets to a Laugh Factory show.
Not bad only $5 a ticket and a 2 drink minimum.
So we get our tickets and the guy asks us where we are all from.
He was surprised at the wide variety he got from this group.
NYC, Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina & California.
What an eclectic group.
So he asks where we all met. "The Internet"
Thanks to Kevin Smith's web board.
The other guy that was with him, pulls out from his pocket the screenplay for "Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back".
That floored us, so of course we had to take a picture of this guy!

After we were all done getting our tickets for the night, we head over to get dinner.
We all had a fabulous dinner (but the ribs I got sucked donkey balls)
I was shocked that after the tip, my part of the bill came up to just over $40 damn!
Must try and eat cheaper for the rest of the week.
Our waiter was cool and took our picture for us.

After dinner, we had a few hours to kill before the show.
So what do a bunch of geeks do to kill a few hours in Times Square?
We head to Toys R' Us of course!
(Group Pic)
This is truly the biggest Toys R Us I have ever seen.
In fact it is SO HUGE, they have a ferris wheel inside.
Me, Kristina & Kat immediately head to the 2 story Barbie house on the second floor.
We all get all girly looking at all the cool Barbie stuff and how much things have changed since we were kids.
They even have what we called a "Stripper" Barbie with all the bling.
After we cruised around there for what seemed like an hour, we go track down Joe, Nicole & Adam in the boys section.
We finally catch up to them as they were closing in on the Barbie section to look for us.
Which was perfect as us girls wanted our picture taken in the Barbie house.
Acting all silly we get our pictures taken.
We laughed long and hard.
After we were done this little girl was sitting on the ledge near us asked "What's so funny?"
We just kept laughing and went on our merry way.
Before we left we stopped to pic up the pic they took of us as we walked in.
We make our way to the Laugh Factory, we have some time to kill, so we all wait outside smoking.
Of course I want to catch a buzz before the show starts.
So I break out my one-hitter and discreetly start to smoke.
Christina catches me and wants a few hits, as does Kat.
So there we are on a busy NYC street getting high.
After about 10 minutes this huge group of cops walks by.
I thought we were busted for sure, but thankfully we were not.
It was about time for the show, so we head in.
We wait in line for a bit to get our seats.
Real good comedy show, lots of laughs.
Cori shows up about half way through the show.
This one tall blonde comedian (She does the Jimmy Kimmel show) starts to make sentence/language jokes.
Our group is almost in tears we are laughing so hard.
She called us all AP English geeks.
Real funny is that I always got D's in English (Essays suck my ass!)
After the show we chat up the comedians a bit, then head back to the hotel.
We get back to the hotel and Cori decides she wants to check out a peep show.
So we head across the street, no luck there.
We head down 3 blocks and no luck there either.
I mention that I have no desire to go check it out and was going to head back to the hotel and meet them in the bar.
They were worried about me walking alone, but I say I will be fine.
Besides I want to catch a buzz on by myself as I am already getting low on smoke.
I walk up to the hotel and there are these 3 guys outside smoking.
I chat them up a bit and found out that they too are in town for the comi-con.
But they are running a booth, Markosia.
One of the guys said if I stopped by tomorrow he would hook me up with a free shirt and a few comics.
Cool Beans.
Everyone gets back, me and Adam was ready to head back to Astoria as we were dead tired.
I tell the girls about the comic book guys in the bar and we head home.

More later, didn't think it would take me this long to type out.
