Last night we rocked some socks a Glasslands, a super neat-o art space/venue in Williamsberg. We've been psyched for this show for a while, since we were playing with our long-time MySpace crush Nicky Click and the insanly amazing Bunny Rabbit. To say it was an honor to play with such great peformers is totes an undestatement!

En plus, we met some awesome new bands: Romanteek hailing from Olympia WA and Ricky Diamond and LB Trev from Orlando FL. Romanteek was so aweome - talented, sexy, and generous with lending us their drums. And Ricky Diamond and LB Trev - um...INSANITY! Two cute as hell lads rapping and singing with two H.O. double T ladies rocking the moves behind them. Such high energy! Such costume changes! Such a very tall Madame Pompadour wig! Though crafted in a post-show, few-drinks-down glow, mad scientist plans are in the work for future collaborative projects with our Florida friends - neat!

Current mood:  adventurous
We love living in New York City. The people, the venues: it's undoubtedly one of the best places in the world to be in a rock band. But sometimes, you need to share the love, and that's just what Royal Pink did on Valentine's Day at Two Boots in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Lady Pink took the helm, showing off her mad L.A.-hewn driving skills as she brought us North. It seems like half of the trip was just leaving the city, but once we left, the 50 or so miles on the highway flew by. Bridgeport welcomed us with a parking spot right out front. After we loaded in, we were treated to some deelish pizza and drinks as we listened to the awesome musicians playing in the NYC Go Girl's Valentine's Day Showcase.

Two of the bands we'd played with before: RewBee and America’s Sweetheart. We'd met both groups when playing the Girls Rock Girls Rule tour at its last show in New York City, and it was wonderful to see them and rock out again. Plus, we met some really fabulous singer-songwriters: Melissa Lusk, LiLi Roquelin and  Lisa Bianco. Cool ladies one and all, and so talented.

Going to Connecticut was so fun, we've been talking about the possibility of more road trips...look out America!

We've recently has two shows at venues we've never played before: Luna Lounge in Wilhelmsburg and The Annex in the Lower East Side. Both were super neat; we were supporting the Shondes at their record release party/national tour conclusion, and the scene was a blast. Eli of The Shondes made his family's secret recipe for kick ass brownie. En plus, vegan cupcakes abounded. Sweet sounds and sweet music. Plus, we met another great band, My Teenage Stride. Rocking!

Our last show, at The Annex was super special because our favorite fabulistas, The Gender Offenders, graced the audience...fully decked out in fashionably restyled Royal Pink T-Shirts! You should check out the photo of them on our picture page, or visit their site at www.genderoffenders.com!

In the works: new songs! planning our first tour! top secret debauchery!

Loving you,
Royal Pink

We've made a name for ourselves being naughty but nice rocker chicas. After our last show though, we could have easily been mistaken for bottle-throwing, brass-knuckle-wearing bad asses. Yes dear lovelies, we went from pop punk to pop-you-in-the-face-punk. What were we fighting for? None other than one of those elusive bits of yellow gold, a NYC taxicab.

We'd had a blast playing at Lit Lounge, one of our fave venues. Our set was tight, we played with our band friends Drunky Brewster and we had a great time chatting up old fans and new. As the hour grew late, we (along with our faithful friends and part-time roadies Le Logan and Yoav) dragged our gear to the sidewalk to hail a cab. One of the only stinky things about being an NYC band is that almost no one has a car, so transportation is usually of the hired type. Late night in the East Village is not optimal cab-snagging time because there are way more riders than there are cabs to be had. But out of the vast river of traffic, one stopped! Hurrah!

Baroness ran (with bass on her back) to claim the cab, when out of nowhere, a posse of three losers tried to get the same cab. We knew they weren't from the city because their taxi etiquette was horrendous: loserman tried to get in the cab before the two passengers got out! When Baroness saw that they were going to play dirty, she both courteously let the riders get out, while squiggling through to get on the seat and thus claim cab victory! Loserman, not taking his defeat well, called the Baroness a bitch. Oh no he didn't! Princess Pink, standing up for her girl, said, "What did you say?? Say it again, asshole!"
"I said BITCH!" Loserman replied. Bad move. Princess Pink shoved him, and Loserman wouldn't back down. Pretty soon, all the Pinks get in full force. Lots of shouting ensued: Lady Pink yelled (eloquently, of course) "Go home, you bridge and tunnel motherfuckers!*" Yoav let it be known that they were douchbags (dirty, I'm sure), and Le Logan grabbed the hi-hat stand and started charging toward Loserman. Duchess and Princess, concerned about wrecking our already sickly hi-hat stand, got in the middle of the fight. Eventually, the losers were scared and left. Even though they were smart enough to leave, they weren't smart enough to shut up! One little phlegm-face girl called Baroness a bitch again, inciting the Baroness to attempt to charge the girl. Duchess held her back, and gear-loading carried on. Until the loser trio realized that Loserman left his gloves, and came back at us. Le Logan had the gloves, and Loserman started shouting. Baroness approached the group, took off her 4" heeled boot, wielded it it over her head and said, "Take your manly pride and leave with it while you can!" Duchess took the gloves from Le Logan, threw them on the ground with disdain and said, "Royal Pink is the best band ever!!" The loser trio left, tail tucked between their legs.

In case you didn't see them, this story has two very important morals. 1) Taxis are worth fighting for and 2) Don't fuck with Royal Pink.

Halloween has been proven* to be he best holiday ever. Candy and costumes are way better than stupid turkey or stupid office Secret Santas! Royal Pink has decided to dress us as SCARY FAIRIES! We will both delight you with our diaphanous wings as we scare you with ghoulish makeup (profesh, of course. 'Cause that's how we roll)! We will trapse along the Village Parade creating magic and mayhem where e'er we may roam! We will eat lots and lots of Twizzlers!

As a Manhattan (specifically Harlem) based band, we've never ventured outside our fair isle. Cabs are expensive, and we have massive, crazy heavy gear. But last night, we had several firsts:

1) We rented a zipcar!
2) We played in Brooklyn!
3) WE PLAYED IN BROOKLYN!

We rocked this awesome party at Union Pool in Wilhelmburgh for BUST magazine (the best women's magazine on the face of the planet). The Ettes were headlining, the crowd was hipsterrific, the night was de-lovely, and I must say, we had one of our finest shows ever. Groupies? Oh, we got two new pages of 'em!

We learned so much by venturing outside our home island. Renting a car is actually way more fun than trying to pile in and out of cabs at the speed of geared-down light. Not to mention, Baroness von Pink's extremely virulent and laughable road rage insults provided miles of entertainment. Was she in the Navy? 'Cause she curses like a sailor behind the wheel! And Lady Pink showed inventiveness in, er, "bending" seat-belt laws by cleverly disguising her lack of a buckle by careful fashion arrangement. As navigator, the Duchess of Pink claimed that her sense of direction was notoriously bad, and no one should pay attention to her. However, she guided us to the gig in one pinkified piece, so we could play a killer show and live to regale in the tale.

On our way back, what song did we hear on the radio? "No Sleep 'Till Brooklyn." Perfetto.

Love and debauchery,
Royal Pink

The EPs are coming!! The EPs are coooommminng!! And they won't even make a stain. However, they will probably be the most important musical purchase of your life. Ever.

As we speak, the Duchess of Pink is sending her driver Nedgewick to bring our precious precious master to be maufactured for our adoring masses. Of course the EP we make for you will be the most special. We think you're the cutest one. All that eye contact at shows? Not for nothing darling. Don't tell the other groupies, though. Okay?

When, praytell, are these divine discs of delisciousness to be delivered? We're diligently deliberating, darling. We want to make our EP release party the most orgasmic, fatabuliscious, panty-throwing party ever, and that does take a wee bit o' time, you know. We'll let you know. Personally. By throwing rocks at your window and hoping it doesn't wake your parents up.
