Recordings of Seven Degrease (part 1, 2 and 3) are finally done.

Yesterday (Wednesday June 3) we recorded the horns, using the Maarssense Fanfare.
A team of 16 brass (trumpets, tubas and trombones) and woodwind (saxophones and bass clarinet) were happy to help us out.

Sunday 12 and Saturday 18 April we recorded Rommert's guitar parts at New Joke Studios.
(Sorry, he recorded it so fast that we didn't even have time to take a photo *smile*)

On April 21 we recorded vocals and cello at Excess Studios in Rotterdam (NL).

In the meantime, Kris has recorded his parts (keyboards, bass, Double bass and guitar) at New Joke Studios.
(Sorry, no photos here either)

In the weekend of 16 and 17 May we shoot the video clip in Purmerend (NL) together with D'iMages.
We hope to have it done sometime in August/September but there is still lots to do and many details to film and edit.
However, we are very confident that this will be something very special.
We shoot material for all parts of "Seven Degrease" which will make this a 9+ minutes music video and we're now negotiating with our record company on how to present this to the audience.

As we want to keep this a bit of a surprise and secret, we won't give away too much information about the clip just yet.
So there won't be coming any photo's from the video shoot right now... but they will come so be sure to pop by soon again.

For now we will focus on mixing and mastering "Seven Degrease" before we move on to making and recording new material for our next full length album.

Thank you for you time.

SIDENOTE:
In the middle of this, Kris and LiLo attended the Benelux Mayones Day here in Holland on April 19.
Both are proud endorsers of the wonderful Mayones instruments.
Kris did an onstage performance together with Dirk bruinenberg (also DIAL) and Eric Hazebroek (Stream of Passion) and LiLo's bass got voted "most beautiful Mayones instrument of Benelux).

We just finished recording drums for four new DIAL songs.
Two of them "Seven Degrease Below Zero part 1 & 2" will be completed first as we will start shooting a video clip for these songs now in May and we have plenty to record still.

Dirk Bruinenberg did some great drum work yesterday and with lots of experimenting with different sounds, fills and drums he was still able to pull it off in a five Hours session.

Drums were recorded at Excess Studios together with producer Hans Pieters, in Rotterdam (NL) and we'll go back there in a few weeks to record vocals and cello.

Next weekend, we will record the piano parts with special guest Robby Valentine. We are very happy to have him on board for this.
Meanwhile, we will start recording basses, guitars and keyboards at New Joke Studios (NL).

As we're having a "dead-line" for the video clip, we will focus on the two songs we'll be shooting and get back to the other two after we're done.
Our goal is to have the video clip and a full length album to show the world sometime this Fall/Winter.

Stay tuned for more information, studio rapports and of course much more information on the video clip.

Rock on!

If you have the impression that you haven't heard much from us in a while, we're here to confirm that thought right now.

Actually, there hasn't been much to mention lately and we haven't even done that much in the first place.
So... why fill up the space with nonsense?
:)

But now... things start to move rather rapidly again and we do have some news to share.

In October 2008, DIAL won the Runner Up prise at the Baltimore Women Film Festival for "Best Music Video".
This is something we're planning to match this year.
Together with D'iMages we're planning on shooting a new video clip this Spring and see how far it may take us.

And... in order to make a video clip (especially if we're talking about music videos), an appropriate song might come in handy.
Well, no use in filming an "old" song from the 'Synchronized' album and it is about time that we bring some new material out on the market.
So... in March and April DIAL will, once again, enter the studio to record a few new songs.

Since the video clip gets highest priority and the studio time is limited for this round, we will concentrate on just a few song at this session, and especially the song we will shoot.
If everything goes well, we will still have five fresh songs recorded, mixed and mastered by the end of April.
Preparations for the video-clip has already started and we do have some very interesting ideas coming along.

Hope this is enough to make you hungry for more.

We will soon post more on the progress of the recordings, the (working)names of the songs and the video-clip, so stay tuned.

Best wishes!

One week to go for the first DIAL show in almost a year.
Last time DIAL entered the stage was in December 2007 as support to Riverside (PL).
This time DIAL will play a 45 minute set at the Ijsselpop Festival in Ijsselstein (NL).

For this show DIAL has teamed up with Dirk Bruinenberg on drums and Laura ten Hoed ..boards to complete the live line-up.
A few more rehearsals and DIAL should be back on top again :)

Within a few weeks, the official DIAL T-shirts will be available here on MySpace (PayPal).
Exactly how, where and when will soon be displayed so stay tuned.

DIAL has also started to look into some new material.
Exactly which direction has yet to be determined but it will surely be DIAL.

Hang in there!

The music video for the song 'Beautiful' has been chosen to participate in two film festivals this year and we are very proud and excited about this.

It's the "HD-Fest" in New York (USA) and "The Baltimore Women's Film Festival" in Baltimore (also USA).

As you might understand from the letters HD in "HD-Fest", this is a festival for anything filmed with a "High Definition Camera".
Amateur or Pro; film, animation, short films, music videos... they're all in there.
Friday 17 to Monday 20 October - 2008.

"The Baltimore Women's Film festival" is a film festival for films, videos, short films and more, everything with a female brain behind it.
Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 October - 2008

Let's cross our fingers and hope that this will bring some good publicity to DIAL and D'Images.

Stay tuned!

There hasn't been much news to spread about DIAL lately and we thought we'd round up the last 6 months in this Blog.

There's been a several reasons why things have been pretty quiet around DIAL lately.
The main reason is that each member has been pretty busy with other things; musically and non-musically.

LiLo has been heard on the new Ayreon album '01011001' and she was also performing with Ayreon at release party at 'Stairway to Heaven' in Utrecht (NL).
She's also been composing together with DIAL keyboard player Domenik for his new project 'Sleepwalk'.
At the moment Lilo's busy rehearsing with Robby Valentine for a number of shows (the first one being on the 27'th this month).
For more information, take a look at Lilo's own MySpace page.

Kris recorded the bass for the new 'Dark Suns' album which was released earlier this year and this fall, the Swedish metal band 'Harmony' will release their new album, on which Kris also recoded the bass.
This year he's been focusing on his solo album and a few shows with Ian Parry.
For more information, take a look at Kris' own MySpace page.

Rommert's been busy with several musical projects along with creating new, wonderful music for DIAL.
For more information, take a look at Rommerts own MySPace page.

Since the three shows with Riverside, in December -07, DIAL hasn't played any live shows but we just got word that that DIAL is officially announced for the IjsselPop Festival in Ijsselstein on September 20 this year.
If more shows will be connected to that one, we'll see.

DIAL will start working on material for a new album this fall.
Exactly when, where and how is yet to be determined.

Stay tuned!

What better could we have hoped for than to be able to share our music by playing support to the wonderful Polish band 'Riverside'.
On 13, 14 and 15 of December, this was the case and we are very happy that this came through.

Not only are the guys from 'Riverside'great musicians, they are also some of the nicest and humblest musicians I've come across.

After the holidays we will provide you with a more detailed story on the subject but for now we just want wish you the best of Holidays and to remind you that the darkes days are over and the Spring Sun will now come back to the northern parts of our Earth.

Take care!
Kris
