Last weekend (24.10.08) we set off in the early hours and boarded a flight to Porto in Portugal to be greeted with THE hottest weather ever!!........
We were picked up at the airport by Lewi (will correct the spelling honest) and driven to our hotel for a Siesta!
The hotel was basic and quite scary but clean with the worlds smallest bathroom which made the loos in the Netherlands look like Palaces, there would be lots of sack jumping in and out of our clothes to sit on the toilet here without bumping our heads on the sink while putting one foot in the bi-day and another in the bath!
During our 4 days in Porto we were treated to sight seeing tours by Lewi and Lionel taking in many sites from a fantastic Music Hall which would make a delicious back drop for a photo shoot for Rebco Bands, every corner of the building was shiny silver metal, twisted lights and wonderfully moulded sexy chairs, we kept saying, Deviant Uk would love this!
We were taken out for 2 meals, one in a student bar where my meal was boiling hot and Stephens was freezing but tasted great and another meal in a very local bar where we were given Franchenia (now I know I have spelt that wrong) this dish was like bread and butter pudding with meat and cheese!?
The gig itself had a small but with a beautifully formed audience in a large industrial room lit only by tealights, it was fun!
We spent time out on the Monday to watch a group of young people dressed in black recruiting those in day glo clothing by the means of shouting at them and waving wooden spoons, Stephen thought they were trying to make them give up the ways of H and M but we later found out it was a Student Freshers week, phew, C&A are safe then!
We had a great time in Porto with, I am sure more tales to tell in the future.........
Wednesday took us by car to Whitby where we were to headline The Metropole for a Persucution night, the PA took ages to set up and sounded like a toilet but we had our own engineer in the form of Simon who worked his magic and even more credit to him for setting up pirotecnics with shooting stars and blasts that frighten myself and the audience witless through our set but looked amazing, thankyou. To add to what was Novus Uk last show of the year as a full band, Crimson fire breathed his way through tracks and truely was the Star of the Show, amazing, what a night and what a way to say goodbye to 2008 for us.
We set off by train to our final 2 piece electro gig of the year was this Saturday at Slime light with Alien Vampire, XMH and NRG Pro, what a nice bunch of guys. We had a small audience again, about 30 if I'm honest, but the cheers made up for the lack of bodies.
Preivous to the Slimes gig, we bought out Cyber Dog with clothes for me and clothes for Poppy (baby in tum) she is going to be a Cyberdog Baby now! Stephen bought a scary gas mask and if he comes anywhere near me with it on I will have the kitchen knife at the ready, lol!! I hate masks, Halloween, gimp, gas you name it and I am freaked!
So, as not to drivel on, the new album will be out in the Spring of next year followed by some selected gigs and European Festivals and a baby Poppy in tow.
Thankyou everyone who has supported Novus Uk through the last 2 years and to those who didn't help at all, we will be back!!
We have played with some great bands and 2009 looks like its going to be a big year.
