After a roller coaster year, Brooklyn indie rock wunderkinds Hysterics have
finally released their self-titled debut. Back in 2006, the high school aged
quartet reaped the benefits of some pretty influential fans. Indeed,
coverage on popular mp3 blog Music For Robots, in the pages of The New York
Times, and on MTV -- who profiled the youngsters in an on-air "You Hear It
First" segment -- led to a deal with V2 Records. But shortly after the band
finished recording the tracks that would become Hysterics, the label
collapsed, and the album lost its home. Months later, the band would decide
to go it their own, resolving to release the record digitally via their own
imprint, Big Scary Polar Bear. And this week the resiliency pays off.
Littered with 60's-inspired pop, and carefully disheveled guitar rock, the
album should please fans of The Shins, The Zombies, and a host of other 60s
stalwarts. The album is currently streaming in its entirety on AOL Spinner.

Next week, the band will embark on their virgin voyage to Austin, Texas for
this year's South By Southwest festival. There, Hysterics will be joining
Fat Cat acoustic warbler Frightened Rabbit, space cadets Delorean, Chicago
indie set Office, Day For Night, and Peel at the eMusic showcase on
Wednesday, March 12th at Maggie Mae's. Before that, however, the band will
celebrate the release of Hysterics at Bowery Poetry Club on March 8th.

03-12 Austin, TX @ Maggie Mae's [eMusic Showcase]

Have you guys heard this record?
I mean have you heard it?
Please go out and buy it and support this girl who is going out on a limb and making some of the most daringly inventive and stirring music out right now. Not only that but there are great accessible choruses and all that. This is really a modern pop masterpiece I think...
It's so beautiful
There's this track called Boyz with a room full of Indian drummers wiling out and siren-like chanting all over. There's this low-riding track, funky and deep called Mango Pickle Down River with a bunch of little aborigine kids rapping. And then especially there's this tune Paper Planes which is just the most lovely thing I've heard in so long...such an odd combination of violent and beatific
anyway........i hope you guys check it out
