We are excited to announce the inception of FatCat's
Furballs, a bi-monthly residency of FatCat-curated live events at
The Freebutt
in Brighton. Drawing on acts from both the FatCat roster and from other
bands and other artists we are excited by, we aim to build Furballs
into an exciting and changing series of events that are the locus for a
chance to do something different rather than just any other gig. Based
roughly upon the great success of our annual
Open Circuit
events in Hasselt, Belgium, we hope to also involve film-makers, visual
artists and other creative types, to encourage the audience to get
involved and to try to shake things up a little bit.
The first Furballs event will take place on
Tuesday 22nd September, with FatCat's own latest signing, quirky French popsters
Get Back Guinozzi!. as the headliner, with support coming from
The Balky Mule.
This show will be followed up a month later with the second Furballs
headed by the brilliant unplugged hardcore drum-and-voice freakouts of
the mighty
Foot Village on
Saturday 7th November, with support to be confirmed.
We will be applying the same high standards to these shows that we do
with the recorded output of our label - making sure that every artist
or band we book is interesting and inspiring. We aren't interested in
filling support spots with any old local band, and fundamentally we're
not doing this as a money-making venture. At the first show we will be
handing out free FatCat sampler CDs. At all of our shows we will give
each person through the door a CD consisting of tracks by each band
playing that evening, (subject to each bands approval). As with the
records we release, we hope our evenings at the Freebutt will get a
reputation for being a great night that people can trust to be
consistently engaging and inspiring. If anyone out there wants to make
suggestions / get involved, then please feel to get in touch at
furballs@fat-cat.co.uk.
