Shamrock on Harford Rd in Baltimore did just that Friday March 23, 2007.
All For Nothing opened for Sir Psycho with a combination of originals and covers. This was my first experience with All For Nothing and I truly enjoyed their metal style. My favorite was Ninety-Nine Red Balloons. Sung in English because the singer "doesn't speak German", this band redid a classic eightys pop song with a jagged metal edge. Loved it!
Sir Psycho headlined the night with bang. After some months or trials, they are back in the circuit and loyal fans will surely be pleased with the new additions. New lights, a new banner, some new songs and most importantly, a new drummer (Eric) and a new guitar player (Chris) has given Sir Psycho a freshness like never before.
Sir Psycho literally rocked my socks that night. For those who know me, I have to move my feet when I hear an awesome song, but I will tell house the house was shaking and I could feel it in my feet. Richard on Bass was out of control. I have never seen him that on fire before. I believe he truly enjoyed playing for Shamrock. Warren aka Lung is a true screamer. It is unbelievable how that man can hit some of the high notes without cause serious physical damage to himself. Chris is most obviously a seasoned guitar player and more subtly, a strong lead for the band. Last, but in no way least, Eric is an incredible drummer. That man worked so hard, the sweat poured off him to the point he had to change shirt shirt between breaks. I think some one us would have been happy if he just removed the shirt all together, but I suppose that may have been inappropriate... bummer...
It was my regret that it took me this long to see Sir Psycho again, but absolutely no regrets for going to Friday night's show. It's good to see the band back on the road and I will be sure to make it to more in the near future. Welcome back! You have been missed.

I finally got to see my old DISORDERLY CONDUCT friends again. This was the second time DC played at the Ox in New Oxford. I have to say, "It felt like going home." Somethings are always the same and somethings change, but no matter what, you know where you are.
There are somethnings you never forget: your first concert, the first time you drive a car, your fist kiss. I remember the first song I heard these guys play, My Own Worst Enimey. I was in the back of the bar and the place was packed. The first couple guitars taps and the double thump of the bass filled that bar and I literally climbed on a chair to see the band. Right about then, my friend comes back from the restroom and wants to know what the Hell I am doing. I told her I wanted to see and we wiggled our way through the crowd to the dance floor.
What I saw was a bunch of regular guys that truly, truly love to play. It's as simple as that and that is what I felt even before I got a look at them. For me, it was love at first sight, or sound rather since I actually heard them before I saw them.
As always, I got to the Ox last night before the band started to play. The band members were still coming in and I got a chance to talk with their newest bass player, Ace. True to the DC passion, he was itching to get rocking. And when the time came to rattle the house, rock he did.
Randy, lead guitarist, showed me his new "baby." She is a Gibson Explorer and she is beautiful. He told me later that he is still getting used to her, but she sounded good to me. But then again, I think Randy could probably play a broom handle and get the mop and dust pan to dance. This is just my opinion.
Singer, Pat never fails to be my favorite AC/DC cover singer. That familiar wail comes to Pat naturally and he makes it look easy as he takes command of the sage and provokes the crowd to sing along to our old favorites: Highway ti Hell, Sin City, Whole Lotta Rosie to name a few.
Scott, the drummer, also sings. Most of us know that this is unusual for a drummer, but when Scott sings, he manages to do it smoothly and continue to play with undaunted fervor. Beating the skins, sweat flying and facial expressions combined with Scott's unique sense of humor makes him an enjoyable entertainer.
Eric who is probably the quietest member of the band, plays rhythm guitar and back up vocals. He also plays harmonica adding traditional spice to the foundatinal song Roadhouse Blues. He also played his harmonica in What I like About You and this addition helped to maintain that beachy feeling I get every time I hear that song.
Frequently, the band will invite a guest to accompany them and last night that guest was Francis from the Band NOTHING YET. This is the first time I have ever heard Francis and he did an awesome job on Cumbersome and Plowed. I will be looking for his band and maybe, Fancy will be writing about them one day.
The last couple years have been hard for the guys. Animal filled in on bass for a while. We love him and I understand he is doing well. He is now with DIRTY MCNASTY in Vegas. Since Ray left, they have been through several other bass players. I have never been to a show where he was not mentioned. He is missed. It would not be fair to expect Ace to fully replace Ray and the energy he brought to the band, but I think he is an excellent addition to DISORDERLY and brings his own gift to the band. It was good to meet him.
As Scott so profoundly stated, "The Ox Rawks." This was so true last night. The band does not have an official dance floor, but this did not keep people in their seats. Nor is this the first time I have seen the crowd make it known that they have to move. The space in front of the Ox's stage has enough room for fans to dance between the tables, but I have been other paces with the DC guys where we had to move tables to make a dance floor. Now, this is my personal speculation. I have not heard this from any of the DC guys, but I feel pretty sure that any place they perform that tells the fans that they cannot dance will be the last time they play there. The guys play for the fans and no matter where I see them play, there are some people that I see every single time.

This is my first negative report and I had to think real hard before I posted this. Before I begin, let me first send my regrets to Great Train Robbery. Lease know that i intent no disrespect to the band and really wanted to see you guys tonight.
The problem is such:
Maryland Party advised that " you get you tickets before they run out." Tickets for a band at Journeys? I had to call to see exactly what this means. I was advised that to get in I could reserve seats or pay at the door. Pay at the door? This makes me think that at this time, they have NOT sold out. "How much?", I asked. I was advised $15 a head and $25 a couple. You have got to be kidding me! I am NOT paying $15 to get into a biker bar. You can forget it.
Now, I know that there have been many rumors going around that the bar is being sold or has ANOTHER new owner. I also know that the last time I was there, there was 20 people tops in the place. I also remember seeing that place PACKED when it was Mel's Airport Inn. Clue phone! Business may not be going so well. It is my opinion that this was a bad move. I know this band books through the booking agency that all the little local bands abhor and again, no disrespect to GTR, but I find it hard to believe that Journey's is going to make it by jacking cover charges. It also raises concern in my mind as to whether Journey's is planning on using this booking agency as a regular source for finding talent for their bar. I don't know this for a fact, but it makes me wonder.

Last night at Chocolate Park, Reckoning rocked the sleepy little town of Cascade, Maryland and Chocolate Park rocked them right back. From the very first song, the fans were on the dance floor shaking their groove things, banging their heads and waving horns. It was a show to remember.
A polished metal band, Tammy (singer), Mark (guitar), Paul (bass) and Keith (drums) play favorites from Judas Priest, Godsmack, Puddle of Mudd and more and even throw in some originals. They transition smoothly from song to song blending one to the next. It is obvious they intend to thrill the audience and keep them moving.
With a raw hard metal edge, Tammy sings songs that are predominately male and still manages to keep a sexy feminine air about her performance. Guitar riffs that will peal your skin, bass lines that bust a gut and drum rolls that rattle your skin all support her vocals with the masculinity to keep Reckoning's renditions balanced so as not to loose the original feelings in the songs the perform. Toward the end of the evening, Tammy stated that she has been asked, " When is she going to sing some 'girl shit?' " At that, Reckoning burned out Heart's Barracuda with a fire that that would have made the Wilson girls proud. With Tammy's infectious smile and an occasional holler of "Social!", the band keeps the tone playful.
My favorites of the evening were Nickleback's Figure You Out and Ozzie's War Pigs. During Figure You Out, Paul made his rounds through the crowd on his wireless bass getting up in people's faces for a one on one rock out while Tammy wandered the dance floor to dance with others. Ozzie's maniacal laugh at the beginning of War Pigs was perfectly duplicated and later in the song, Tammy prompted the fans to sing along. It is always an awesome show when the fans feel as if they are a part of what is happening.
Reckoning has been supporters of various benevolent causes in the past and this night, they were collecting money for a person who suffered a bike accident and they wanted to help this person have a merrier Christmas. A jar for collecting change was stationed at the bar and periodically, Tammy reminded people to drop their change.
Always the gracious hosts, Reckoning greeted fans between songs, made sure everyone had something to drink and believe it or not, emptied ashtrays. A menial task some might see as humbling, but in this writer's opinion, it just shows how much this band cares for those who come to listen. Sometimes the small things mean even more.
* My apologies for loosing my last posting to those of you who were looking for it. Peace!

Four guys from South Central Pa. Took a trip to Thurmont, Maryland last night. They are the band known as DEADLOCKED.
Dale's Place, located just south of Thurmont on Rt. 15 was the place to rock!
DEADLOCKED: Versatile, energetic and full of Charisma. They set the place in motion. Covers as various as the Doors, Everclear, Green Day and Elton John. I al;so have to mention the Beatles. Now, if you know me, you know that any band that will play a Beatles song, will have my heart for ever. Remember, The beatlemaniacs were the first Bandaids.
The band often spoke directly to the crowd such as in Tommy Tutones "Jenny Jenny" the singer pointed to a specific girl in the audience. Although, I was not personally addressed, you know I have to include this as another favorite. Oh,and Guys, not to worry. Believe me, I've heard all the Jenny jokes and of course, you didn't know who I was. Peace!
The talent in the band combines skilled musicians that support a vocalist who's voice with could be described as manly rough, but capable of inflecting a genuine feeling of emotion.
One last note of interest. I believe it was totally coincidental, but when they played Band Company's " Can't Get Enough of Your Love", at least five different groups of people stood up and hugged. Humm... Like I said, "Interesting." I've never seen something like that happen before.
Let it be said, "I thoroughly enjoyed the show and will be looking forward to seeing this band play again."
Thanks Guys for a great time. Rock on!
Peace,
Fancy aka: Jenny

Fancy does not date! She is not here to pick up guys or girls for that matter.
Although it is not secret that Fancy and Jenny are the same person, Fancy is not completely real. You see very little personal information about either facet of me on this page. The purpose of this page is strickly for support of the local bands.
If you are stupid enough not to get it, be warned:
FANCY IS A BITCH to stupid people.
By the way, Jenny is not available either. She's just not as mean about it.
Don't hit on me. If the mood strikes me the wrong way, you have no idea what the end result will be.
Sorry for the downer. Something better is to come.
FUCK OFF to the dumb dorks....
PEACE to the cool people!

As some of you may know, yesterday was my birthday. Yes, it was happy and I want to thank everyone for all the Birthday wishes. I had an awesome day.
Anyway, Friday night, I get a call from my friend Phil who knows everybody and he tells me Blue Oyster Cult is doing a free show in Rockville, md and he can arrange backstage passes for me, but he needs to know by 12 noon the next day... the day of the concert.
I called everybody I know, but everyone was busy, so the next morning I started calling gain to those that I left messages for. The deal was at that point, first come first serve. A mYSpace friend happen to be the person who won the draw.
The show was incredible. The played all of the best of Blue Oyster Cult. I have been listening to BOC since I was in junior high and know most of the words to all the songs and have never stopped loving them, but I am here to tell you, there is nothing like a live show. Yes, the songs are different from what you hear when you hear a recording, not the sterilized version. What you get live is the true artistic application to a familiar medium. For instance, the familir Godzilla in this preformace was used to allow band members a solo during the traditional instrumental section of the song. These are the things that are illiminated in a recording studio, but make the show a unique experience.
Once backstage, I was surprised at the similarity in conversation this world reknown band had in comparison to the conversations our local bands have. The sound was a little off. I could have done this better. I thought my strings were going to break. In the audience, I noticed none of this, but I felt as if I had been there before. Once the show talk was over, talk turned to the usual conversations anyone could have had. Sienfeld, and memiors of the lady back home who taught one of them the Evil Eye and what it meant. The banana cream pie they had waiting in the back of the bus was better than sex. It was all so casual and if I did not know better, I could have been with one of the bands that I am friendly with.
Did I get a signature? Yes, from two if the guys who had a moment to spare before they left to get on their way to other things. On my chest. They are already starting the smear and I'm going to have to be careful how I bath for the rest of my life. After all, I am a bandaid.

My apologies to DAHLGREN PROPHESY and SHINDLER'S FIST. In my summer band review, I accidentally left these two bands out. Fortunately, it was brought to my attention and that review has been edited to include these bands.
As I develop this site, I'm hoping to give my blogs more individual attention to the shows and not be grouping all under one entry.
It is my privilege to be close with some of the people who entertain us and I know how much sacrifice goes into doing what they do. There is practice time and sometimes that takes away from families. Some of these bands travel hours to play a show. They have to buy and repair equipment. One of my friends lost 2 amps at the same bar at 2 different shows. Guess who had to buy new ones. They lay out tons for merchandise and sometimes they give it away. And to be honest, some of the local bands we watch ( Did you pay a cover charge? Maybe not and if you did, was it really that much?) they are not getting paid a lot of money for the job they do.
They deal with drunks and sometimes fights. They deal with hecklers and "Fee Bird!"
Women will flash boobs or do other sexually explicit things and although some of the guys might enjoy this, some don't and their women have to witness this. Because of this, some of my friends don't get the support from their wives. I know one guitar player who's wife I have never met. She doesn't want to see another female throwing herself at her husband. Another friend has to calm his wife on a regular basis because of what another woman did while he saw singing
So, you see, there's more to this than just light and sound and a big party. These people do this because they love the music and they love the crowd.
Again, I am truly sorry for omitting DAHLGREN PROPHESY and SHINDLER'S FIST from my original post and I hope I did not offend anyone.

Wow! what a blast this summer was!
Let's see. To start, I made an entrance at Bauchman Valley Inn when DISORDERLY CONDUCT played there. I could not find the front door and climbed in over the band. Thank God they had not started the show yet.
That was a great show. GRAY WOLF helped the guys out and there were a ton on MYSPACE people there. I got to meet some of my on line friends. That was a perk.
DISORDERLY has had a few up and downs in the past year, but they keep on playing through it all.
I have been able to watch BEYOND THE SCAR develope. That started with an introduction at a benefit at Fish Head Cantina where SILVERTUNG/SHINDER'S FIST was on stage. It all started when Thane gave me a card for BTS which is still on the bulletin board at my work desk. Since then, I have had the privaledge of watching the band develope. It appears they have played at some pretty good places such as House of Rock and several club in out favorite Ocean City, Md. And let's not forget, the have the Jagermeister sponsership. Very cool!
The SILVERTUNG/SHINDLER'S FIST show was a benefit for a family who's house burned. Another incredable show. Not to mention the fact that this band also looks out for the community. Kudo's to SILVERTUNG.
Midsummer , I found myself at reunion show includeing DALGREN PROPHESY, HARSH AND REV9 in Frederick, Md. OMG! the place was packed. These bands have a pretty large following and I got to see some old friends I hadn't heard from in a while. The show was held at Krugg's Place and I was surpise to see that the establishment allowed a mosh pit. No one was hurt that I am aware of. DALGREN had plenty of shirts and CD's which I woul;d also like to add where selling like hotcakes. Very intense show!
I spent a lot of time with SIR PSYCO. They too had some tough time this summer, but they came back with a bang. Tammy from RECKONING helped out some along the way. This band was made of some incredible talented folks. Unfortunately for various personal reasons, the band has decided to move on. They will be sorely missed.
Although I have only had a sample of what RECKONING can do, I'm looking foward to hearing the whole band. Tammy had this earthy sultry voice. I song I heard her sing was origionally done by a male vocalist, but she carried off to perfection.
Another band that doubles up with SIR PSYCHO is MIND WXZ (MIND WORKS) They have a hard driving metal edge that gets any crowd warmed up.
I had the special privledge of seeing DARK STAR ORCHESTRA at the Ram's Head. This truely was an exceptional show. I was fortunate enough to be a guest who had VIP seats and backstge passes so not only did I have an awesome view, but had the opportunity to me the band in person. Not a normal experience for me unless the show is at one of the local pubs.
Speaking of local pub, BLUE VULTURES made an appearance at the Dead Dod saloon in the tiny little town of Bonneauville, Pa. I'm not sure why they took that show... Maybe it was a pay off on a bad bet. The strange thing was, I went in on a whim. Naturally, the show was great and also another chance meeting with a MySpace friend.
Recently, I saw VS. THE EARTH at Padonia Station in Timonium. Another fantastic show. My guest, another musician was "jonesing" to play but still he said he had a good time. I imagine so. This group has amazingly clear harmony. They do several medolies of some of our favorite cover songs. I have to add that the lead singer has a incredable whit. he fills the space between songs with some pretty funny one liners. Another band I would like to see again.
And last, but not least, I saw HENGE. HENGE's songlist is a coolect of varied music from JOHNNY CASH to GREEN DAY. They also have an amazing following so if you want to see them, you have to het there early to get a table... or you can join the crowd up front. That's where I would rather be.
So you see, it has been a great summer. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do for New Years. Until then... ROCK ON!.
Peace, Jenny

My family thinks I'm a groupie. I have to tell you, it's not cool when your uncle introduces you to a band that he hired as "his niece, the groupie." I had to explain that a bandaid does not sleep with the band. You would think he would know this since my grand-father was a musician and had many wives... and children. And I must confess, I have slept with some musicians, but my reasons were not because of their musical talent.
That said, my father is still trying to figure out how all this works. In my attempt to explain, I realized that even though it all happened easily for me, it is a little complicated to explain, but I will see if I can help you understand how it all fits together.
It all began when I was purchasing a house behind a bar. A lot of people think this is cool, but personally, I don't want the crap that comes from the bar seane in my back yard... You know what I'm talking about.
Anyhow, I started going to the bar while the house was under construction. That's how I met DISORDERLY CONDUCT. Eventually, I got to know the guys and that's how I became friends with Scott, Eric, Randy, Pat and my special friend Ray. Through the course of the last couple years and the changes the band went through, I also got to know Dutch and Mike aka: Animal.
The friend that I went to the DC shows with and I decided to start "collecting" bands, so we would go to other places looking for local talent. In that quest, we found NOXIT.
MySpace came into my life and from that came my introduction to my darling friend, Warren of SIR PSYCHO. He saw on my other site that I was friends with DISORDERLY CONDUCT and from there blossomed a whole other link of band friends.
At a SILVERTUNG/ SHINDLER'S FIST show, I met warren's friend, Thane from BEYOND THE SCAR. All of this links back to Animal and how these people are connected.
Some where in all this is STEEL who I have heard has gone out to visit Animal in Vegas.
Meanwhile, as I go to many of the SIR PSYCHO SHOWS, I also meet some other bands: RECKONING and MNDWRX.
So, I decide to start a MySpace group: Backstage Bandaids and Dance Floor Groupies. Through the group, I meet Jay ( not in person yet, but still a great Myspace friend.) He is working on starting a new band: TAKE TWO. From this new friendship, I find that he is personally acquainted with NOXIT.
The group and a work relationship took me to a DALGREN PROPHESY show which turned out to be a reunion show including HARSH and REV9.
Finally, again MySpace linked me to another friend, Phil, who lives on the other side of the country. He came back to the east coast for a visit and I had the privilege of going to a DARK STAR ORCHESTRA concert. Through his connections, this show included VIP seating and back stage passes.
So this explains the links of the bands that I have had personal contact with, some more and some less. It has nothing to do with getting laid and everything to do with seeing a great show, dancing until my neck and ass hurts and having a good time... and meeting new people, You see, behind the bands are tons of other people who are just as important but get none of the recognition: the roadies, the significant others and the faithful followers.
