As soon as I sent out the bulletin about Films@CR being kind of bare, the full page went live!

Just in case you haven't stopped by CR since our last blog, you should know that we've continued to move forward!  Recently we launched the beta version of our webcomic archive, which you can find here:

http://comicrelated.com/webcomics.php

We are also in the process of updating our Films section. There's not much to look at right now, but very soon this will take on a blog feel with trailers and official sites linked on the right. I've seen the "in progress" page and it looks great!

http://www.comicrelated.com/films.php

In the meantime, we've posted some stories that will be directly linked from the Films section:

The Surrogates

Also, soon, new companies and creators will be added to our hosted forums!  Including Red Handed Studios, which is run by Cary Kelley, who got married this past weekend, so congratulations to him!

Zone 4's Cary Kelley Married

And aside from all that goodness, we've continued posting daily content including new columns, reviews, podcasts, stories and more!

Be sure to bookmark www.comicrelated.com and make it one of your daily stops! We promise you things will continue to develop at CR. As Chuck Moore said, he had a 10 year plan for the site and the entire plan happened in about a year. So now we're going above and beyond and are planning to be a comic news site to be reckoned with. Listen to the latest Related Recap to learn more about that!

Current mood:  adventurous
I know it's been a while since our last post, but so much has been going on and so much about to happen.

First of all, if you haven't been to the site in a while you've been missing out on a TON of stuff.

You are probably familiar by now with the mainstay podcast on the site, The Related Recap, which was a weekly show, but is now multiple times a week.  But in addition to that CR now has a whole podcasting network!

We have THREE separate feeds. We have the main feed, which plays host to The Related Recap and the weekly review show, Why I Love Comics.

Then there's the news feed, which plays host to the daily Related Warp Wrap and the occasional Outside the Panels.  The Warp Wrap recaps the previous day's news and throws in a few tidbits from the archive from time to time, while the Outside the Panels one mentions recent headlines. Both are relatively short 'casts.

And finally there's the Zone 4 feed, which hosts the Zone 4 podcast and the upcoming weekly in depth Zone 4 Reviews show.  The main podcast is new every Friday and is basically four comic fans/creators talking about various topics each week. We've got a guy in Australia, a guy in Chicago, a guy in Kentucky and a guy who floats between Texas, the Gulf of Mexico and overseas!

If the new podcasts aren't enough, though, CR has recently launched webcomics!  Beginning on Free Comic Book Day and over the course of that next week we launched four strips: It's All Related, Killer Robots Love You, D34D L4$T, and I'm Not From Here.  And very soon there will be a portal on the home page that will take you directly to the archives of all of these.  These are all weekly strips and are each just about three installments in, or will be by Friday.

We've also launched an updated blog section with our Comic Tech blog taking center stage, framed by all the other blogs available on CR.

We have begun posting monthly solicitations finally, and we are priding ourselves on having the best ones out there.  Check out a few from this month to see why we make this cl..

Marvel for August
DC for August
Image for August

And finally, just today we have added COMMENTS to ALL stories!  And the cool thing is you don't have to sign up to leave a comment!  If you have a Facebook or Twitter account you can use those. If you are already logged in you don't have to do anything but post and click the Twitter or FB button!  Easy as can be!

So now you can leave your thoughts on the many stories CR puts out daily now.

There is just so much fun stuff going on over at CR you owe it to yourself to go check it out.

Saturday, March 14, 2009
We're pleased to announce that we will not only be attending Gem City, we'll have a table at the show. I want to to thank show promoter Jesse Noble for treating CR like family. We're looking forward to returning that favor as we cover the show. If you plan to be in Dayton, stop by our table and say hello!

Current mood:  adventurous

Hey folks, I know it's been a while since our last update, but things have been crazy.  Between all the NYCC coverage we got to all the stuff upcoming, and everything in between we've just been so busy.  But in case you haven't been checking the site out daily, we wanted to give you a taste of some of the stuff you've been missing!

NYCC was a whirlwind, and we didn't quite get all the content up as fast as we would have liked.  Because of this we are rethinking our onsite convention coverage strategy.  We want to be able to update you in real time as much as possible, but we just got overwhelmed this time around.  The good news is we've been rolling out tons of audio and video interviews with some pretty cool creators from Dan Jurgens to Brian Michael Bendis!

Here's some highlights from our NYCC coverage:

The con may have beaten us in the beginning, but we have TONS of content that will flow in today and throughout the week.  We're still learning and growing, so bear with us, but we think you'll forgive the slow movement of content once you see the content really start to flow in.

Yesterday we managed to post the first Related Recap Podcast (#66) with interviews with Brian Michael Bendis, Bob Burden, Ted Sikora, David Peterson, Len Kody, and Jenny Frison.

We also posted some photos from the show.

Today we have a video interview with TERRY MOORE!

And that image you see above?  That's the three tables Comic Related had at the show, and they were swamped with people all weekend long!  On the left we have the legend Ron Fortier. On the right is Chuck Moore's lovely wife Katie talking about ComicsXP.  And in the middle is the main podcast locale for Comic Related.

This has been a fun show and it's not over yet!  Stay Tuned!

We haven't put up much content from NYCC just yet, but it's not for lack of trying.  We have staff at the con running all over the place doing tons of interviews and taking tons of photos.  Our first interview?  BENDIS!

Before you know it, though, podcasts, pictures and coverage will begin going live on the site.  We have some from yesterday up there, but over the weekend we'll be adding to it in plenty.

In the meantime, we have a thread on the forums covering some interesting Twitter comments from people present at the con.  Check it out here.

Friday, February 06, 2009

On the main page of the site (www.comicrelated.com) you see a spotlight image right under the navigation bar.  If you click it you will be taken to Comic Related's live on-site coverage of New York Comic-Con 2009!  Keep checking that spot throughout the day and the weekend for continued coverage!

What's there now:

1:34 PM - From the show floor of New York Comic Con

We're firing up the coverage! We're going to be live blogging here all weekend right under the spotlight image. Here's the plan. From this page we will add a photo feed and an archive highlighting all the main site stories. I'm pleased to report that the Comic Related booth has been flooded with visitors and that has actually delayed the launch of our coverage just a bit.

The show floor was filled with guests well before the doors opened at 1:00 PM. As I type this first update, the show floor is filling fast as we build toward the launch of the show.

Just a bit of a tease... Our first interview of the weekend... Bendis!

Friday, January 23, 2009
After all the hard work Eric Adams of Turnstyle Creative and Lackluster World put in, the new look for our forums is now up and running!

The new skin for the forums serves as an excellent supplement to the main site, and really feels like just an extension of the site itself.  We are very excited with the new forums and all the upcoming growth within them and beyond.

Speaking of that growth, very soon we'll be welcoming two new groups to our forums in Ape Entertainment and Comics XP!  We've talked about both for a while, but now that the new forums are up we're really looking forward to integrating them and having some new faces around to chat with!

If you are a creator or a publisher and don't have your own forums come and take a look at the boards and consider bringing your voice and projects to Comic Related.  We're always interested in finding new friends to talk comics and everything else with.

These are exciting times for Comic Related, and the good times keep rollin'!

In case you don't know or are behind on episodes, Comic Related's own podcast, The Related Recap is still going strong and has been for nearly 10 months now!  We just hit our 60th podcast in fact with two more to hit the site this week!

Typically The Related Recap is a weekly podcast featuring interviews, comic discussion, updates on the site, convention planning and much more.  This week we changed the format a little and had our first of many round table discussions.

This particular podcast was split into three parts as it went in excess of three hours!  The first one features a discussion on favorite titles of 2008.

Check it out here: The Related Recap #60

Round Table Podcast In this first of three nightly shows, Eric, John and Chuck look at their best comics of 2008

Be sure to check back later today for part two, then Friday for part three.

And if you've missed any of the past Related Recaps, well, we're still working on the archive page, but for now you can find them all here via our RSS feed:

http://comicrelated.libsyn.com/rss

You can also subscribe to the podcast on iTunes using that feed in the "Subscribe to Podcast" popup box!
