Out & Equal Workplace Advocates Washington, DC Chapter presents Transgender Transition: Planning, Communicating and Successfully Managing the Transition of an Employee in Your Workplace
The fact that 153 Fortune 500 companies have added gender identity and expression protections to their workplace policies demonstrates the growing visibility of transgender people in the workplace. This visibility raises issues around accommodating gender identity and expression. This includes addressing the various needs of transgender employees who transition while on the job. Come hear how two Washington area employers prepared, communicated, and facilitated the on the job transition of an employee.
This interactive panel discussion will present the lessons learned from both the employee and employer perspective. Panelists include:
Karen North, Computer Engineer, and Sharon Wong, Special Assistant for Diversity; NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
Jessica McKinnon, Software Engineer, and Lois Spreen, Chief Human Resources Officer; Bates White, LLC.
Moderator: Dana Beyer, MD Senior Policy Advisor to Councilmember Duchy Trachtenberg, Montgomery County Council
To reserve your spot, RSVP to dc@outandequal.org.
Thursday, February 28, 2008, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Renaissance Washington Hotel, 999 9th Street, NW (corner of 9th and New York Avenues) - Auditorium
A networking reception will follow the panel discussion
