June 15, 2007 - Friday

RedRodger is currently seeking interested student writers to contribute to the site. All open student writing positions are currently volunteer or freelance based, non-paid internships. This is an excellent opportunity for downtown Madison college students, majoring in writing related majors to build up their resumes/portfolios.

Position 1

RedRodger will be seeking one new "Restaurant Review" contributor. The position is best suited for someone who enjoys the downtown/campus area Madison restaurant scene, frequents newly opened downtown Madison restaurants, and dines out regularly. Now, just because you can eat doesn't mean you can write, so this person should also have mad skills when it comes to the organization of the English language! This person must be familiar with RedRodger.com, our style, and our audience (which if you didn't know is primarily college aged kids). Your reviews should reflect of the type of audience they are being read by (aka: this is not the New York Times Food Review).

This position is via online, no in office work required . The position requires that you submit one short to medium sized restaurant review bi weekly. The restaurants you review are of your own discretion, but will be approved first by RedRodger to ensure variety and prevent repeats. If you think you got what it takes, contact RedRodger at info@redrodger.com and please include your name, contact info, short bio, and sample restaurant review.

Position 2

RedRodger is seeking a student contributor to write a bi weekly feature about Madison campus life, events, etc… This position is brand new (as is the feature to RedRodger.com) so we are looking for a creative person with the ability to write, as well as the ability to help shape the feel of the feature itself. This person must be active in Madison student life, possess great writing skills, and have the ability to solicit a strong student readership through his or her bi weekly features. This is a Madison college student only position (UW- Madison, Edgewood College, MATC).

This position is via online, no in office work required. The position requires that you submit one short to medium sized feature bi weekly. The features you write are to your own discretion, but must be focused on or about Madison student life, news, and/or events. If you think you got what it takes, contact RedRodger at info@redrodger.com and please include your name, contact info, short bio, and sample feature.

and if your not in school, done with school, never went to school, then just disregard the title and check out our RedRodger Spring Semester "Must Drink At These Bars At Least Once" recommendations below (just cause you're not a college student doesn't mean you cant party like one).

Porta Bella Wine Cellar
For those nights you're feeling classy Porta Bella's is top notch. We absolutly heart this place big time! Great bar staff, wide selection of drinks and beers, and who can beat getting drunk in a place that that feels like it came straight out of and Edgar Allan Poe story.

High Noon Saloon
One of Madison's best music venues, featuring preformances by everyone from local indie rock bands to Madison's very own hip-hop legends The Crest. An awesome place to chill out and grab some drinks with your bud's, plus they have pinball!

Paul's Club
Why? Because they have a f*#$ing tree IN the bar, thats why!

(not actual tree in Paul's Club, in fact this tree is no where near Paul's Club, but you get the picture...theres a tree IN the bar!)
