BLOGTRONIC Text Server by Kevin Wolf, except where noted

Those of you who miss the postings of my friend BLOGTRONIC will be delighted to learn that he has joined Twitter.  It looks like he's planning to post fairly frequently, so go follow him, why don't you?

It's nice to see that MySpace has gotten NO BETTER in the year that I've been absent from it.

I just sent my friend Jenni a message, but an "unexpected error" occurred (actually, MySpace, it was a completely EXPECTED error, since you NEVER work!), and I don't feel like typing it again.

Anyway, Hi Jenni, if you ever see this, which is doubtful since half the time the blog pages don't load.

Fuck you, MySpace!  I've learned to hate you all over again.

I have reactivated the MySpace account, only for the purpose of keeping in touch with my friends who inexplicably did not follow me to Vox, which is 8 million times better than this cesspool.

Anyway, hello.

I won't be blogging here.  I still blog on Vox.

Later.

Does anybody else love that, even if Tom is not in your Friends, he still spam-bombs your bulletin space with lame crap every once in awhile?  Like MySpace isn't jam-packed with enough sleazy ads already?

Thanks, man!

I'm going to start posting links here to non-Vox-centric posts over on my Vox blog, so that any of my MySpace friends who aren't willing to join Vox can keep up with my posting and respond to Vox posts in this space.

Got it?

Good.

Wow.  Check out this mail "conversation" that this kid started with me yesterday (I'll flip the reply order so that you can read it straight through):

You, are a jackass. Every opinion about any movie you've ever felt compelled to voice to the general public is incredibly, absolutely, ridiculous. The points you make, though voluminous, are coincidently all ungrounded. You pompous piece of yuppie shit.

I need to vomit.

But your reviews beat me to it.

Sincerely,
A man that hates a complete stranger.

I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to respond to this, except to say that you have a Steve Zissou quote on your profile, and therefore you cannot disagree with me on everything.

Forgive me for having a Steve Zissou quote, oh mighty Thor. Who am I to dare question any of your opinions? Perhaps I'll give you some specifics as to what is wrong with your entire philosophy towards cinema.

Example A: Memento is written poorly? NO. It just so happens that the screenwriters guild named it one of the top 100 screenplays of all time. But what the hell do those hacks know about screenwriting?

Example B: Blade Runner. It only took me 67 viewings to get bored of it, and realize its so tedious. I wonder if it has to do with me seeing it 67 times. No one may ever know.

Example C: Raging Bull. Its a shame it didn't have the emotional arc as found in such glorious films as Crash LOL. p.s. Crash blows cock.

Example D: Godfather Part II. Every scene? really? Every scene? Every scene? Thats right, I said it three times, just like you. And with each repetition, it also failed to become more true. Idiot.

Sincerely,
fuck you.

Addendum: A quote is not a mission statement, nor an indicator of film criticism. Its a quote. Idiot.

You are not merely disagreeing with my opinions: you are attacking me without provocation over a couple of my blogs that you take issue with.

I happen to think "Memento" is one of the best screenplays I've ever seen filmed, so I don't know where you got that from. I may have mentioned somewhere that the narrative gimmick overwhelms the writing a bit, but Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite working writer/directors and I have much respect for his work. Also, I've never seen "Crash" (I assume you are referencing the recent Oscar-winning version, not the David Cronenberg film, which I have seen and liked). I can't remember what I said about "The Godfather Part II" that has you so riled up, except to argue that it isn't a better film than the first one and it follows the structure of the first film a bit too slavishly. It's still a great movie and I watch it frequently.

"Blade Runner" and "Raging Bull" are both vastly overrated films, and my recent disdain for "Blade Runner" has nothing to do with seeing it several times. If that was the case, I'd think the same thing about "GoodFellas", "Rushmore", "Once Upon a Time in the West", "Apocalypse Now", "Reservoir Dogs", and my other favorite movies that I watch over and over again.

My opinions are my own, and yours are your own, and they can co-exist on the Internet together. If you want to have a civil conversation about film, we can continue messaging, but if it is your intent to continue being rude, profane and insulting, please find somebody else to suffer your abuse.

Re: Steve Zissou. You like "The Life Aquatic". I like "The Life Aquatic". That was the only point I was trying to make. I have made several highly positive comments about Wes Anderson's films; therefore, not every opinion I have ever voiced about a film can be as "incredibly, absolutely, ridiculous" as you assert.

Please do the world a favor and grow up.

End of quoting.

Fun, huh?  This is another example of the sort of thing that never happens over on Vox.  I'll keep you updated on whatever further jackassery this kid sends my way.
