20 Mar 07 Tuesday

Played last night at Bender's Tavern with PSF and Bastard Trash. It was LOUD, but pretty fun anyway. We played again with guest drummer Ian Campbell, who sat in for our Cricket show last week and will be with us again Thursday at Wyatt's Torch. We also played Saturday for the Larimer Lounge Punk Rock Fest with drummer Max Smith (we doubt that's his real last name, btw). Thanks and well done to both of those guys for getting the songs together with us on short notice.

Last night's gig at the Cricket was exciting, and not just because the tequila was flowing. Guest drummer Ian Campbell (also a local DJ/composer) learned the songs in a flash and made us all feel secure up there on the stage. He also brought his fan contingent, who were highly supportive (read: loud).

We didn't get to see much of the other bands, owing to early work schedules, but what we heard of Downtown Daredevils was good and melodic (and the singer was a cutie). Lonnie of Revelation Union won our T-shirt contest.

We played last night at Wyatt's Torch in Aurora -- our first show at this venue, which I think is newer. The stage is cool and curved, the booking and bartending staff were super, and the crowd, while small, was appreciative. After us was Racecar God, who we didn't get to hear much of, but what we heard was good. A fun show for us -- we now have 2 more shows booked there in the next couple months.
14 Jan 07 Sunday

We played last night at Hubba's, a killer club, in the Miles High Productions battle of the bands. About a zillion other bands played, including roe (matchbox-20-esque, very cute) and Mr. Hate (excellent harmonica solo). Results won't be in for a day or two, but we had a pretty good time whatever happens. Thanks to our fans who made the trip to Aurora despite the weather!

12 Jan 07 Friday

CS played last night at the Cricket on the Hill (Denver) -- after much wrangling about time slots, both ours and the Culhanes' (James' other band, also playing last night, at a different venue) we went on at about midnight. We met the members of Severs (we describe them as punk hillbilly); they sounded cool and stayed to listen. Surprisingly, the crowd didn't give up and go home until almost 1am, and the show was great! Thanks especially to Jason the sound guy, who took good care of the bands. We're psyched, but don't get between the Stranglers and their coffee today.

CS played last night at Herman's... despite some "technical difficulties," it was a fun show, and we enjoyed ourselves. Remember May played first -- we only caught the tail end, but the singer was cute and had a sweet voice. Generalized Other played right before us, and were intense. Finally, Jazz del Barrio ended the evening -- Herman's has never seen a band like that, according to the bartender. Probably never seen a punk band salsa dancing, either, till now.

Did a mini photo shoot during rehearsal last week. Some of the results are up now. Thanks a bunch to photographer Sherrilynn, whose last name we will not reveal because we intend to keep her to ourselves as our band photographer. Look for some more of her photos to appear on CS promo posters and such.

Photo shoot soundtrack: the Ramones, the Pixies.

09 Dec 06 Saturday

Played tonight at Andolini's -- great show with Less Than Under. Rob, resident sound guru, cranked the volume, and the cops called up to say Rock On (they phrased it as "turn it down," but we understood what they meant).

Look for a video clip from the show here soon.

07 Dec 06 Thursday

CS played at Eck's Saloon in Lakewood. Clearly they've got some kind of space-warp technology happening, because from the outside it looks just about big enough for a band and 3 fans, but inside there's room after room of pool tables, darts, a bar, a kitchen, and the big music area. It was fun.

Thanks to Chris, who handled our sound. He'll be accompanying us to most shows to make sure we sound great. You'll know him when you see him, as he'll probably be the only 6'7" guy wearing a CS T-shirt.
