I'm currently working on a run of 30 Career Suicide Handbags that will accompany the band on their summer US tour. As well as new Fucked Up louis vuitton inspired handbags. And I have ONE Cursed Purse left. So if you've been putting off purchasing it- it would be now... or never.
I'm also finalizing designs for the spring 2008 chic+vintage handbag line- which will include new shapes, sizes and handles. And when they're done those of you in Toronto should expect a tea & handbag party to celebrate!
And lastly, I have a serious collection of t-shirts that I would love to turn into purses for anyone. You can check out the list here. And to give you some ideas...
thanks! alyssa

Bonjour! I'm back from Montreal. Thanks to everyone who came and looked at my bags at the Puces Pop Fair, and especially to all those that bought bags! I hope you all love them very much. Also a very big thanks to Modi who helped out for most of the weekend... I brought the handles, and he most certainly brought the love to the table. Also. I should mention that I have now napped in the Montreal Bus Terminal, a park and a very lovely restaurant... But that is what happens when you take the midnight bus from Toronto. I did however sleep like a baby on bus ride back... and I think there will be many more future trips to the beautiful city of Montreal.

Today I dropped some handbags off at Left Feet (the Vegan Shoe Store in Kensignton Market, downtown Toronto)
They are made out of old bedsheets! There are two style of handles, and if they sell well, I will be bringing more.
I'm pretty excited!
Please go look at them... & support the store!

so i finally got around to making the trial cursed purse. and i couldn't be happier w/ the result. i'll be making 20 of them in the next few weeks. and they're selling for $40. the dimensions are 12" long 11" tall and 4" wide there will be a reinforced zipper pocket on the inside and i haven't decided on the lining fabric yet. although... i did come across the most fantastic sXe fabric from the 90s that will make an appearance in a very limited few.
also. everyone should note that i have greatly improved 10 fold on my sewing abilities. the cursed handbag is proof.
I recently applied for a governmental grant so making purses could become my full time summer job. so let's hope i get it... and sooooon!
also. it is in talks that i may just make some modern life is war handbags. i hope it happens. i'm already designing the logo... and its SO sweet. so yes. i'm really looking forward to this summer.
OH! and! it is also in talks that i will be selling organic and reused fabric handbags at the vegan shoe store Left Feet in kensington market.
so. here's to hoping that this summer is the best yet...

hey. i can do that. [i'm also dipping into the wallet making industry]
the tshirts can be any size. the larger they are, the more potential they have in becoming a bigger handbag.
so keep that in mind if you have a sweet shirt that you don't fit anymore...

so i made everything about these bags, by hand. the only help i received was from my grandfather, who helped me jigsaw the handles out of wood. apparently next time i make handles, i should use a router. cause it would save me precious sanding time. ah. live and learn i guess.
i actually think the handles took as long as the actual purse took to make.
anyways i feel like by knowing this, it helps me justify the fact that i'm selling these hand bags for $40. and i will send them out to anyone who's willing to buy one.
and it costs $10 to ship to the usa. and $16 to ship to europe.
did i mention they're limited to 40?

went over pretty well. i still have 20 or so left. but made up for cost... which was my main concern.
i only have 1 brown floral purse left, 1 zebra stripe pattern and a bunch of the girly baseball and strawberries.
sooo if you're interested in one, i'm gonna set up a paypal account and i'm gonna look into shipping costs. and i'm definitely willing to mail these handbags out if you're willing to buy them.
fucked up was going to bring some on tour with them but i'm not sure if they're still going to. but either way. i'm cool with shipping them out.
