Attendees of this year's New York Comic Con (NYCC) are invited to celebrate the Third Annual Indy After-Party on Saturday, April 19th from 7-11 PM at The Twins Pub in New York City. This year's event will converge on the entire venue, with free food on the first floor, a cash bar, and DJ and dance entertainment on the second floor. And what would a party full of comic book creators be without comic books? Well, party-goers will get the chance to see (and buy) some of the best around. Premiering at this year's Indy After-Party is a very special event — the first annual Comicbook Artists Guild (CAG) Awards Ceremony. At this first-of-its-kind event, the leadership of this nationwide organization will induct honorary members and present awards in comic book excellence. Categories to be recognized include Best Writer, Best Artist, CAG MVP, Best New Talent, and Special Award for Excellence in Production. Catch da Craze Podcast will be filming the event and conducting interviews in the new CDC corner at the party.

When asked to comment on the party, organizer Samuel Vera said "The Indy After-Party has grown into a must-attend event at the NYCC. I am honored to be one of the original sponsors and the only podcast show to document the event year after year." Fellow Organizer and CAG President, Keith Murphey states "This party is for the up-and-comers and the well-established veterans. Everyone is welcome here and this party will promise to be the most entertaining yet. It continues to get bigger and bigger every year, as we continue to attract new sponsors."

Founded in 2000, the Comicbook Artists Guild is an organization designed to bring talented comic book artists together - be they writers, colorists, inkers, pencilers or all of the above - to collaborate on a project of their choice. CAG is also a great place to meet with other comic lovers to learn new tricks or techniques, or teach a few of your own. CAG is for anyone who loves comics and has the passion to create in any aspect of the field.

The Twins Pub is located just 3 blocks away from the New York Comic Con, midway between the 34th Street subway station and the Javitz Center.

The Latest Happenings at Jolly Rogue Studios.

I am going to do my best to keep this journal updated. Your comments & crits are always welcome!

So what is going on at Jolly Rogue Studios?

Well Issue 1 is in the proverbial can! I have the PDF and it looks phenomenal. I want to send kudos to Stephen Kuster at Free Lunch Comics. He spent hours pulling all of our artwork together and made one very professional book.

We will be going to print next week. The decisions on who to use and how many copies to order have all been made. We are very excited and can't wait to see the finished product!

We are currently taking pre-orders for Issue 1. Please email us if you would like to pre-order any copies. Our email address is evnsue96@msn.com.

Next on the agenda - new services provided by Jolly Rogue Studios. We are currently seeking clients needing their scripts edited for grammar and continuity. We offer reasonable rates, fast turn around times and a professional final product, suitable for submission.

The last topic we have for today is an update on ads and pin ups. We would like to truly thank everyone who has submitted artwork to us for our pin ups and ads. Very soon we will be announcing the artists whose pin ips will be featured in our Issue 2.

Please keep the "cover-quality" pin ups coming. We have 2 more issues to fill! Deadline is February 29 to be considered for Issue 3. All submissions should be emailed to our inker, Michael W. Kellar at comicbookinker1971@yahoo.com.

Current mood:  exhausted

As you all know from my bulletins and the main page, Sky Pirates Issue 0 is on sale now.  What you don't know yet are the added features to the book.

One of the coolest features to the book, besides my 12 page story, is the fan art section.  I am honored and humbled to announce that the following very talented artists will be making a guest appearance in Sky Pirates Issue 0...

Jennie Breeden, the creator, writer and artist at the helm of the popular webcomic The Devil's Panties, has graced us with her rendition and interpretation of Tobin Manheim, the main character in Sky Pirates 0.

Keith Murphey, talented artist and the President of the Comic Artists Guild, blessed with an awesome version of Bryan, your neighborhood pirate in the shape of a bear!

Shawnti Therrien, artist/creator/writer of Am I Immortal, created an outstanding and dynamic portrayal of Gearz.  Shawnti will be appearing in the Mysterious Visions Anthology 7, to be released in November.  She is also the East Coast Vice President of the Comic Artists Guild.

Last but certainly not least - we have a new and intriguining version of Shyni, created by none other than our talented inker, Michael W. Kellar!

I am sure you will agree these extra special additions to Sky Pirates 0 make it worth every penny.  Please order your copy today!

Good Morning Comic Book Fans!

Round 2 is over and we finished in 2nd Place - thanks to the support of the fans!  The Sky Pirates team is now preparing our submission for Round 3.  It is in this round where you will get a sneak peek at the story itself.  We will be handing in 3 pages of sequential art.

Right now there are 30 contestants in Round 3.  To proceed to Round 4, we need to be in the top 6.  We cannot do this without your help.  Once we have posted our pages, the judges will comment on our work.  Then the forum will open up to public votes.  This is where you come in.

If you haven't voted in any other previous round, you will need to register at www.dimestoreproductions.com.  Due to feedback from previous rounds, the registration process has gotten easier.  Then all you need to do is post a message on our forum thread for Round 3, indicating you vote yes!

You can't vote yet.  Stay tuned to this blog for the announcement of when voting begins.  In the meantime, however, feel free to get yourself registered now and take a look at our Round 2 submission and the judges comments.  You will be impressed!

Here is the link to our Round 2 Forum.  Don't forget - voting has ended for Round 2!  Stay tuned for Round 3!

Current mood:Not quite panicked, but close!

Hi Everyone!

As with everything in life, we hit a snag.  Our original inker/letterer is in another project in the Small Press Idol.  So he can't be in our group too.  So now I am in need of some help.  I need an inker/letterer/colorist for this project.  We have made it this far, we can't stop now.

So if anyone is interested, please contact us!  Please!

Category: Friends

Ok well it's time I write something witty about myself.

I'm a dreamer.

A husband.

A dog owner, the jury is still out on who owns who there.

Sky Pirates started as a gaming world for a small group of people. To this day I just keep adding on until I felt that it was full enough to pour into the minds of eager readers such as yourself.

I do want to take a second to thank my wife. If it wasn't for her this project would be lost.

My artist Brian Brinlee. If not for him this story would not be breathing.

Tobin and Gearz. if not for those two I would not have an outlet to build a story on.

Oh I haven't forgotten you the reader and the people who have friended me today.

Thanks!

Sky Pirates
