I don't know about you, but I love to
laugh, and dream, and have fun. Probably why I am a statistic, one of the many
adults who love to watch Disney. Yes, I know about their alleged human rights
record, and I don't agree with a lot that Disney allegedly says and does, and
maybe it is wrong that I enjoy and love their movies and programs so much-
maybe.......
.. ..
Either way, I particularly love Wizards
of Waverly Place: yes, I may have a small crush on Selena Gomez: but who
doesn't. ....
.. ..
I often wonder at the connection
between the concepts of magic and grace. I separate the evil version of magic,
from grace on one level: is it natural, and of God, or is it manufactured, and
aimed at evil. I guess I like the show because it is funny, hilarious actually,
and also has some fun, interesting lessons, which I probably already know. I
also do believe that not everything in life is explained, or simple. The sin of
witchcraft, as compared imaginary Wizard creatures, I think is separated
somewhat. Granted, I never guarantee that what I watch will be fine for
another: still, I think programs with Magic are fun to watch. It is often a
good metaphor, and more than this, science is discovering another aspect to
man, as the prayer and healing experiments seem to point towards. Not everything
supernatural must in my view be good or evil: supernatural: being: in this
case: above what is perceived as normal or natural!....

.. ..
So, why do I watch television a lot, in
between study, and my online service to the community: because humour balances
the mind and the essence. We sometimes need to be entertained. We also need to
dream, and aspire: least we become unhappy, or unhealthy, or discontented.....
.. ..
So, why do I advise some television in
our lives: for the same reason I advise reading good and not bad books: because
the human being needs to imagine. Imagination is healthy and too little of it,
can make life bland, and people prone to giving in to whatever is easier:
unable to find an alternative.....
.. ..
So, yes, I have my guilty pleasure: my
television time, in which I watch multiple shows or movies. The fact is, I also
love the sort of narrative, which falls into the fantasy genre: as Narnia and
Harry Potter do. I guess, my need to imagine, is obvious enough to me. And
entertainment should always be about flexing the mind, the humour reflexes,
and/or the imagination.....

While a lot of television can be bad. I
think a little indulgence of our desire to watch another's creation, another's
work of art: can be of benefit: in manageable doses.....
.. ..
Of course, there is
good television and bad television. I always hope to watch television in a
manner which benefits my psyche, and does not negatively impact myself, or my
soul or my service to God. We must not turn off the conscience when we turn on
the screen. Be wary of what you watch, make sure it is of benefit!
