There are no sacred cows and no punches held as local and
international politicians and celebrities get turned into frightfully
lifelike latex puppets inspired by South Africa’s most famous
cartoonist: Zapiro. In Znews, famous characters in South African and international life
are re-created in the form of lifesize puppets, which – in the manner
of newspaper political cartoons – grossly exaggerate that person’s most
obvious facial and personality characteristics. Given voices by topline
South African impressionists and comedy talent, the puppets are
manipulated by a team of skilled handlers to act out the wickedly funny
sketches that comprise each edition of this parody of TV news.
Thierry Cassuto and Jonathan Shapiro, aka 'Zapiro'
Znews was instigated by Thierry Cassuto, Executive
Producer, who over the course of many years researched and acquired
expertise from the original ‘Spitting Image’ series and the varied
adaptations it inspired around the world, notably the french ‘Guignols
de l’Info’; and by Jonathan Shapiro (aka Zapiro)
whose hard-hitting caricatures and unique political acumen form the
core of the show.
Together they came to the conclusion that the South
African public and front-page figures were now ready to have a good
laugh at themselves; that people that made the daily news had to be
portrayed free of the omnipresent facade of PR gloss and occasional
deceit; and that the envelope could be pushed much further that anyone
had yet dared to do on South African television. They put a team
together, designed and manufactured a life-size prototype puppet of
Madiba – that was presented to Nelson Mandela the day he officially
retired -, and produced a sample of what was to become the Znews
project.
In 2008 they produced a TV pilot in conjunction with SABC which,
despite the massive publicity and warm critical response it received,
never got aired and was not commissioned for a series. Frustrated by
the conservative attitude of the South African TV gatekeepers, Cassuto
and Zapiro have decided to take Znews straight to the viewers via the
Web and Mobile, a place where freedom of speech and the right to laugh
at anybody and anything are not being limited.
Initially www.znews.tv will host existing material from the TV pilot
produced in 2008 but very soon (as soon as sort out the funding
issues…) new content – news, clips and parodies – will be introduced
right here on a weekly or daily basis.

For the ever increasing amount of Americans who are self employed, a
new website has just been launched which helps them market their
services to their local area. On Mycubi.com everyone creates
a free mini website (called a Cubi) which lets everyone in their local
area know what services they offer. Even those who have regular jobs
can use the site to find odd jobs based on their skills. Visitors to
the site are then able to look on their local area map to see what home
based services are being offered in any particular area. For those who
don’t necessarily want the whole world to know where they live, there
is the option of showing “General Area”: of where you are based so
people still know you aren’t too far away. In these recessionary times, MyCubi.com also provides a platform for
those who have been recently laid off try and set up shop from home.

A ray of hope...
Listening
to people talk , it seems the world is full of pessimists. It may be
true that everything is not well in the world. But we must never lose
sight of the fact that God is still in control. As a result of man's
foolishness, the state of the earth leaves much to be desired. But this
does not mean we must despair or simply accept the situation as it is.
On the contrary, Jesus, our Master, has warned that difficult times
will come, but that we should persevere, because He has overcome the
world already (John 16: 33).
Your chief goal must still be to
obey His commands, and to be dependent on Him. Open your heart and life
to the Holy Spirit so that He can strengthen you in your intention to
serve God faithfully. Then when he fulfils His promise to the world,
you will be rewarded with His eternal Kingdom.
THANK YOU, GOD, FOR THE PROMISE OF A NEW EARTH. KEEP ME FROM NEGATIVE THOUGHTS THAT CREATE PESSIMISM AND DESPAIR.
Amen

Proving
that what's old is new again, flip books have made a comeback as a
marketing tool delivering full-motion video clips of things like
commercials, mini-movies and product demos - in print!
Dating
back to pre-cinema days, the flip book - which created a movie by
flipping quickly through its pages - all but vanished until a company
called Flippies decided to re-engineer the novelty into a bona fide, thumb-triggered promotional advertising tool that
we've recently spotted being used as event handouts by the likes of
AT&T, Subaru, MTV, Samsung, PUMA and L'Oreal. With marketers
blathering on about things like their latest facebook widgets and "too
cool for TV" YouTube videos, it's refreshing to see something
break-through which is simple and straight-forward for a change.

TO HAVE A LIVING FAITH...
If
you truly want a dynamic and living faith, the onus is on you to
receive and develop it. God wants you to have a sincere and vibrant
relationship with Him. If you are experiencing a slump in your
spiritual life, it is not because God has withdrawn from you. The
problem is that you are allowing something else in your life to take
precedence over Him. God cannot give you His fullness if you consider
other things more important than Him. If you want to have a dynamic
faith, let God be the centre of your life. Let His love and power
radiate over every part of your being. And when God has taken the right
place in your life, hate will be replaced by love; gentleness will
replace bitterness; strength will take the place of weakness. Your
faith will become living, practical, creative and constructive. There
will be an abundant spring growth in your spiritual life!
MY
PRECIOUS GOD, I PRAISE AND GLORIFY YOU WHO GIVE ME YOUR VERY BEST AT
ALL TIMES. KEEP ME HUMBLE AND THANKFUL AT ALL TIMES. AMEN
Blessings!

Din-ink
is so much more than just a pen cap as I'm sure you've noticed. It's
pen cap cutlery. Spoon, Fork and knife caps that conveniently fit over
the end of your pen so you can do your homework and eat it too! Made of
100% biodegradable, atoxic and packaged in compostable material - "the
whole set is designed to respect the environment". The
design tied for first place in Designboom's 'Dining in 2015' contest ,
so hopefully they will catch on and we can see them soon in a vending
machine near you.

MySchool is South Africa's foremost school fund raising system, contributing more than R1.5 million to schools every month. The organisation was founded in 1996 as a social entrepreneurial initiative and is dedicated to supporting South African learners by creating sustainable income for schools, through a collaborative community support model.
The system gives parents and other community minded individuals a vehicle through which to make a meaningful contribution to schools, in a convenient and transparent manner.
The MySchool support system is not a donation service, but a true partnership between schools and business partners. Schools work hard at encouraging parents to support the programme while business partners commit to funding based on the parents' loyalty to their respective brands.
MySchool facilitates school support on behalf of a range of business partners who have a specific interest in education. The fundraising system is a partnership through which all involved strive to create a better future for learners in South Africa.
Approximately 350 000 parents and community minded individuals have MySchool supporter cards. Whenever these supporters make a transaction at one of the MySchool partners, up to 1% of their transaction is allocated to the school they wish to support. All these transactions are recorded and a statement of the transactions is sent to individual supporters on a monthly basis.
The supporter card is not a debit or credit card but serves as a measure through which valuable supporter data, such as transactions and funds raised for a particular school, are tracked.
In addition to channeling funds to schools, the system also promotes developmental initiatives in under resourced schools in conjunction with business partners. These initiatives are aimed at bringing much needed resources to these schools and starting partnerships with more affluent schools and business partners. Some initiatives include a Twinning model where resourced schools partner with under resourced schools in the pursuit of aiding development; multi-partner projects such as "Paint-a-thons" where a number of partners are involved in developing schools facilities, as well as advocating children's rights through collaborative campaigns such as the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

Bleacher Report is a blogging platform for sports where users can write stories about college or professional sports.
The site is positioned as a publishing platform that leverages the rough-edged talents of amateur sports writers. Readers can track favorite writers, and stories are categorized by topic. Writers with preexisting blogs can opt to have their stories fed into the site.
The community also acts as a collective editor, correcting spelling and grammatical errors — even headlines. Writers can have articles reverted back to original formats if changes come uninvited. Otherwise, the site is a typical social network. Members list profiles — in addition to recent articles — alongside bios, fans, and recent activity.
