The John (Wayne) McCain plan for International Relations: Talk tough, threaten military force, call names, act like a bully. Is this 2008? Are we trying to stop nuclear proliferation, or take Iran's lunch money? That FUCKING IDIOT TRAITOR is more interested in saving face and hanging onto his red, white, and blue bald eagle toughguy bullshit than actually achieving peace, stopping international violence, and keeping his countrymen out of harm's way. "I will not sit down at a table with (pick your popular republican enemy) without 'preconditions.'" Are you kidding me? You arrogant fucker, John McCain. Where does this sense of U.S. entitlement come from? It's that kind of arrogance and stupidity that's created terrorism and makes us a target for not only continued terrorist attacks, but puts the world in danger of full-scale atomic war. For that cocksucker to sit and rant and rave about the Russians engaging in illegal military actions when he and his cronies led the charge to ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL WAR in Irag, a charge based on blatant lies that he and the Bush administration and all those Big Brother Global Superpower fuckers he works for knowingly fed to the american people and the idiot Dumbocrats in congress were scared into believing.

I've respected stances he's taken in the past - especially standing up to the White House on the issue of torture - but when the time came to win the nomination, he took to his knees like a good soldier and went straight to sucking GOP dick to win the support the NeoCons and the far-right slime. The supposed "war hero" has no more dignity than a common street whore, and the sight of him on television makes me want to vomit.



Fuck you John McCain. As the son of a Viet Nam veteran who loves his country and the world as a whole, I am more disgusted by your kind than by any enemy the U.S. has ever faced. Just like all fascists, your true face is hidden behind patriotic rhetoric, fear, and lies. The only difference between you and the foreign "dictators" you speak against is that you use the American flag as a mask while they burn it.

Better the devil you know, and I'll take a boatload of Ahmadinejads, Husseins, Bin Ladens, Chavezes, or Darth Fucking Vaders over McCain's rotten, lying ass.

Feeling the "Ignorant Xenophobic Suburban NeoCons are Fucking Up Everything Blues" real hard right now. Keep seeing these mass emails, online news "comment" threads, and hearing other baffling ramblings from stupid white people that are reaffirming my suspicions that this country might be well beyond saving. How many sick fucks will still spread lies that Barack Obama is a muslim, wasn't born in the U.S., won't say the "Pledge of Allegiance," etc. just to further their self-serving agenda? We're seeing the same puke-faced bullshit here in Minnesota from scum like Norm Coleman (running a filthy campaign against Al Franken, just like he ran against Paul Wellstone, before his conveniently-timed death) and Michelle Bachmann (a crazy, stupid, dangerous Jesus head representing Minnesota in the House of Representatives). In Michigan, the GOP is planning to use foreclosure listings to challenge registered voters, and there are a ton of other voter caging/suppression schemes they're cooking up in "battleground" states like Wisconsin and Florida. I'm starting to feel really powerless, in the midst of all this Wal-Mart disease, and it's making me sick with anger.

I think I've got to get out of this town. The RNC just rolled through, so of course the fascists were in full effect. Carefully constructed "protest areas" that quite deliberately made it impossible for demonstrators to get anywhere even close to the convention, Darth Vader pigs out in their fuck'n Riot Gear trying to instigate a riot so they can go apeshit and club, gas, and shoot bean bags at everybody they can get in their sights. All those fuck'n pukes here in my home town: McCain, Guilianni, Romney, Hitler. Seeing Norm Coleman's sniveling face on TV talking up McSame's "experience" and all the other bullshit, trying to pretend he's from Minnesota while saying "Saint Pauwwl" with his shitty east-coast accent.

Fuck all those phony cocksuckers and their Big Brother riot patrols wiping their asses with the constitution. Why do cops wear blue all the time, but when they're breaking up peaceful assemblies, they wear all black? Intimidation. It's the worst kind of domestic militarism we've seen since the Redcoats patrolled the streets of Boston.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed yesterday, I decided to jump in the car and drive aimlessly in an attempt to clear my head. It just so happened that my meandering path led me straight to Norwood Young America, a small town about 50 miles west of the Twins Cities that is best known as the place you mail cereal box tops to to get decoder rings and special edition twisty straws.

It also just so happened that Norwood Young America was holding it's annual "Stiftungsfest," a German-themed city festival ripe with polka, beer, sausage, and a softball tournament in a quaint little baseball park. For obvious reasons, I couldn't resist dropping the $3 on admission and checking it out.

Good thing I did, because I was blessed with a performance by Wally Pikal and Harvey the accordion guy and some other amazing polka. I captured some of the magic with the help of my digital camera:

In the VFW tent, there was some sort of "open accordion" jam. People had signed up and were taking turns sitting in with the band. Here, Nancy sits in:

I love these little town fairs and this music so much. This is exactly what the upper Midwest is to me, not some bullshit $9 dog turd on a stick from the State Fair, or sitting in a fuck'n Bud Light Beer Tent with you $5 bracelet listening to some shitty band rip through "Brown Eyed Girl," or a shitty Coen Brothers haha crap. But just like any other region in the country, this stuff is disappearing. The old timers aren't getting any younger and the young people are covering the old houses with vinyl siding, slapping shitty motorcross decals on their leased trucks, and shunning the traditional music and culture for cock-n-balls cowshit like Slipknot, or 50 Cent, or Korn or Whateverthefuck. It worries me. What's going to happen to this stuff when no one is carrying the torch?

I guess the future of Polka lies in the hands of dillfucks like this jagoff, sporting a flat-top mullet with some stupid Rocawear Phat Farm jeans and singing into a Garth Brooks headset. I about puked when this dude took the stage. I thought he was just some stupid hillbilly stage hand or something. Fuc'n triple barf. They launched into some kind of Elvis lounge "Chicken Dance" send-up about three songs in and I was gone.

Grab onto the good shit while you can, kids. Let's preserve what we can of it while it lasts, because it's gonna be gone soon - gobbled up by hogshit phonies and profiteering interests and general stupidity.

Long live the blood and guts and heart and soul of the Real people.

At least we still have Wally Pikal to keep us happy when skies are grey.

A lot of global control conspiracy stuff that's been around for a long time (Pretty much the basis for the WTO protests in 1999),
put into one nice, cohesive package. Two full hours with a little mind-numbing "ambient" electro-music, but well worth a watch.

Fulfilled a junior high fantasy by seeing EPMD live last night. Free in Minneapolis, thanks to the Scion car company, who have been using live hip hop shows to promote their boxy-looking white people cars.

Rumors were abound all week that Erick and Parrish were beef'n, and it was going to be a PMD-only show. Thankfully, the gossip turned out to be false, and the whole crew (minus DJ Scratch) took the stage.

They preformed mostly with a live band, Erick forgot the lyrics to Gold Digger, and the show was pretty much a chronological review of all EPMD's hits from 1987-93 or so. Definitely not the most inspired or memorable performance I've ever witnessed, but a great chance to see a legendary hip-hop act live, and another must-see checked off my list.
