though you probably are not seeing a comments section, i am going to say this though you probably won't read it for what little worth of time i have posted into this...

i'm not accepting comments on my page, and they aren't even visible at all.  i'm not a bulletin board for advertisements here.

the comments section was meant to be personable... to hear interactions from other people and bands regarding the work in a public forum.  kind of like when people at AP or MTV would review a music project that just got released by Radiohead or Britney Spears for example, people would publicly state their opinion about it and maybe even a bit of feedback regarding some of the usage of the musical instruments and such.

but i'm not here to be advertising for you and your band like you're more important than what i have to offer on my page here.

so sorry if i'm coming across like a complete dick, but hey, i'm going to be one if you're going to attempt to advertise your new album without helping me out a bit by spreading the word about me.  then again, i tried advertising my LP without coming across as informal and being personable.  what did being personable net me?  financial losses.  yes... exactly... financial losses.

when the time comes, maybe you should expect me to be spamming your comments page regarding my next project, and it won't be as pretty.  or maybe just spam the crap out of the bulletin boards like everybody seems to do lately, like it's a popularity fucking contest.  how about that?

well, what i will do instead, is be personable, like i mean to be, but within my limitations.  a new band sending a request for friends/network and decides to advertise immediately through request or by comment to check out their work and help spread the word... i'm going to spam you back, but you won't get through my filter.

i'm sorry, but don't treat my page like it's that shitty cardboard pin-up bulletin board you have at work where you tack up those random things that you could just as easily post through a post-it if it can fit on one.

i thank you in your attempt to network with me, but you're totally not personable.  i can keep in touch with anyone on a regular basis and be personable, vs. sending somone a request (something i rarely do anyways) and start a conversation and maybe find out if there's a common ground in relation to the music.

if any reader agrees that you should be more personable rather than treat your newly requested page as your pin-up advertisement board, i want you to kudos this like a motherfucker, seriously.  because since i've been on here, i've barely EVER spammed anyone as hard as these major-label-yearning douchebags have in many months and years of the existence of MySpace itself.

and if you heartily disagree with me, and are on my network list here, i want you to take me the fuck off immediately, because i have less respect for you.  "it's the only way you'll ever get ahead, dumbass!"  oh really?  how about being a real fucking artist who is a real person rather than have a goddamn ego shoved six million degrees and ways up your ass and twisted enough to shit blood?  that's how it feels like when you've been exhausted from being on the road for 2 years straight with little down time on a "big" tour dude...  trust me, i've studied a lot of "tour history" with a lot of people, and even if they can afford to in-source massage therapists and other people to keep them in line enough without being told by a doctor to "step the fuck back", they have it as rough as you will with me being your advertisement board.

did i say you treat me like your ad board already?  no?  oh wait, yes i did.

who can actually have a "right mind" these days to actually be a human being behind a computer rather than add a new friend and say "check us out and buy our album and tell your friends about us, we are fucking awesome" even if you're a two-piece indie group or a 6-piece metal band or worse in a sense to my eyes, a 3 or 4-piece gangsta rap clique that stereotypically gets involved in gangbanger style activities including running guns and poppin a bitch in the face at an awards ceremony and idolizing the female body as "only sexual"... or some shit?

don't get me wrong, because i'm not.  get me right, because i am.  the whole situation is what plagues this fucking place.  at least on facebook i have not had add requests "oh my god you're so hot, please fuck me right now" or "i figure i'd take some time to get to know you, and tell you about my band which you should check out because we have an awesome sound we discovered"

how about make me some goddamn french fries and chicken nuggets for dinner and serve me an apple pie on the side, and tell me who's the bitch?  you, the advertisement-mongering throat-fucked ass poles who ride the said ass poles all day with two tether balls hanging from your chin because you're a cock-smoking conformist attention-seeker style that thinks you should earn a 250,000 dollar recording contract because you're "too important" and shit?

yeah, thought so.  point the finger at me and tell me i'm the one in that position.  nope, i'm not.  i'm here to write, and make this my living without the need for a major label like Sony or Warner Bros. or Interscope or Geffen or RCA or Jive or any of those big names.  I don't even require the need of an Indie right now like Roadrunner.  I choose to be off the grid in that nature... and DIY style it up.  Why?  that means not only do you have to work even harder, but you are still a REAL PERSON BEHIND A FUCKING COMPUTER SCREEN WHO CAN ACTUALLY TALK TO PEOPLE DIRECT WITHOUT BEING TOLD IT WOULD BE BAD PRESS FOR YOU AND YOU COULD BE BLACKMAILED FOR PLAYING WORLD OF WHORECRAFT AND SAYING SOMETHING ON TEAMSPEEK!

DOUCHEBAGS-R-ALL!

expect to hear how i really feel on the 3rd album then sometime next year or two after i'm done with my 2nd and take a break from it... really.  no joke.  ass kissing bitches keeping other artists down by not helping spread the word about them.

HINT! BE A REAL PERSON! I TALK TO PEOPLE!  SO SHOULD YOU!

A few more successes so far.

But to debate on what to do with them...

maybe i'll know when i get back from a practice/meeting session with not only another new favorite band, but also one i'm playing bass for... Destination : Oblivion.

figure while I'm doing my own thing i could occupy myself with something else, and the opportunity came along damn near 3 months ago.

so... anywho, here's where things stand.

new music is coming surely.

the plan of attack at the current position of where it all is... there will be 2 songs from the album online in total, and the rest, there will be a way to acquire it.

the website however, is a different ordeal.  i'm going to be getting back to programming it in early November.  It will still look plan and whatnot.  There will however be, an interesting enough twist to it (i'd think, at least) when it gets done.

in November, I plan to draw up a proposal deal as well with someone i know locally, who may be capable of investing some time and equipment into something to start up an aspect of AA of which i will not go into details with.  it's a secret for now, but a GOOD one at least.

when the time comes to place the 2 songs from the upcoming LP onto MySpace, it will be one of two or three places of which you can hear it.  unfortunately for all of those investing time into listening to AA, there will be a couple of things to pay attention to now... 2 lead tracks from "The Occult" in their Alpha version will be available, 2 leading tracks from "Harmageddon" will be online, and 2 other projects will be on the player.  it will in a sense, show the diversity entirely of what AA is and has been capable of since inception in April 2004.

i don't know how it will play out, but my plan, ultimately is that.  i cannot provide more information at this time for if i did, it probably would compromise the security of the future.  of yours, however, not of Arcane Addiction.

in the meantime, enjoy this bit of information.  it will be the next to lasts in the coming weeks.

while it's still known to me that it's only about 3 months away from a new release, i will not dictate if it's going to be an LP or an EP at this time.  my plan is set in motion.

the better part of this posting is this:

Year of Expiration in the last week has seen plenty of face-lift if you will call it that, with all instruments, to blend in, to be crisp, to cut clear, and be what anyone who digs metal would listen to.

it's going to see one more face-lift... the drums.

aside from that, there are 25 templates in my sequencer right now.  all of which will be fleshed out and the next 2 songs that come from it specifically, will be put online.

once the entirety is complete, i'll have a method ready to get it online, until i put in the funding (or take pre-orders) for the physical copy, of which i will be working alongside a couple of people who will test the layout with me.  i will also have two others who will get an advance copy of all the tracks that i plan to include on the release, and suggest the potential for album sequence.

in the meantime... this next one will be fun, as it's an old one.  i don't want to tell you how mellow or how intense it is.  i just want you to hear it when it's done.

then again, what if it's already done?  knowing these songs already and how they were recorded, i should actually try being done by mid-late november and get the ball rolling, since you know, after this is done, i'm going to take a well-deserved break for 12 months and sit back and see what should occur in music itself as far as AA is concerned.

the process is draining, it's worth it in the end, but jesus christ can it never end half the time.

seems the fire has been lit once again where it laid itself to rest, barely out, but barely visible enough to know that it still burned.  the flicker from the coals and ashes that remained in the area where i felt smothered in a sense of writers block...

that fire has been fueled once again.

as i take a quick break from re-doing "Year of Expiration" a little bit, since something i found was a bit off... this song screams "brutal!!!" within the first 45 seconds of playback.

the lyrics themselves as well, when "applicated" with the guttural growling death metal style voice, seriously sounds like it's about to put someone in their place.  it's also been an exercise to work on opening the throat a little bit more so it sounds more raspy and brutal.  unfortunately, the voice can only get so brutal before you feel the effect being brutal on your voice box.

so... let's just say, "Harmageddon 2032" is going to be a lot more brutal than "The Occult: Stories for 2012" was.  in a sense, it's so far stripped down to the basics, in some regards.  it's not complex yet, but, don't count on it being too simple either.  this pill will be tougher to swallow.

speaking of which, here's the deal with it as well.

the artwork is going to be done up shy of the release, and the website in a sense will reflect it.  anyone regarding press/media will receive a free copy upon request (and yes, you will have to provide proof and examples of your materials to receive it)... and upon the receipt of it, i'd hope you will take the time to review the album itself.  already "The Occult" is available for free on the official website (just click my face in that picture and it's a 50 MB ZIP file).

for those who are not press/media related, you will have to PayPal for it.

the idea that will be provided in this album's packaging for digital, as expected by standard, will contain all the MP3s coded at 320Kbps or FLAC (your choice) and a PDF document included which will contain the artwork, lyrics, etc.

but like i say, this album is going to be more brutal than the first.  it's digging deep into something i've never really done 100% before, and holy fuck, it's kind of scary.

so now it's a quick break from filtering a lot of stuff on my myspace page here.

=== music updates: ===

the Omega Edition of "The Occult: Stories for 2012" should be complete by sometime in late September or early October, and will only be released as a Digital Download, artist-direct too.  none of that middle-man bullshit with iTunes or Amazon MP3 or anything.  and yes, the Omega Edition will sound 50x better than the Alpha Edition which you're hearing online on the player here (select songs).  You will know more about this as the time progresses.  I would in fact have a newsletter mailer, but, i don't honestly know where to start to acquire a free one that isn't convoluted with the utmost of crap to siphon information through.

soon as those few things occur, it'll be decent to actually keep people in tabs via email, which i would prefer rather than logging in a lot all over the place and having to attempt to update via blogs or bulletins.

so... the first release you'll see from this upcoming sessions deal... will replace one of the two songs that has received more than 40,000 plays.  but, that's up for you to find out.  if you keep tabs on it, you'll know.  2 songs only currently carry that weight.  at this point, consider those 2 songs the bigger singles from the album... time will tell, etc.

=== Commentaries: ===

based on some personal reflection over the course of the last 5.5 years as Arcane Addiction became an artform and broke out onto MySpace and started causing nightmares for the weak and gave strength and hope to those who knew what we were in store for in our future... i have decided to disable the viewing of comments on the page.  i literally skimmed through 12 pages of comments, and calculating it up was about 71% advertising other people's works.  now, i approve of promoting.  i honestly do.  but, when i worked on promoting the Alpha Edition release, did I see any payoff really?  no.  it wasn't about money.  it was the fact that even with little advertising, VERY FEW plays ever generated, until about a year and a half afterwards (now) when i realized, most were not from advertising/promoting the work.  when the work was available via iTunes and Amazon MP3 and other various digital distributors, the parent company who assisted in placing the work online had also failed to report many of the sales from iTunes, citing that i needed digital receipts for proof people bought.  i asked the audience widely a half dozen times.  nobody responded.  so, thanks to some of those who i did advertise to to check the work out, i'm out a grip of money, literally.  the few reports were penny clicks.

and because i tried, and the result showed "lack of interest" i decide my comments section will no longer show up on my page, no less, comments will be heavily moderated.  at least be a real person and try not to step on my back because i'm here and supposedly a support pillar for your career launch.  i approve that you are doing your art, no matter how shitty your guitarist might be or how amazing your vocalist and drummer are.  i already know on my own end i'm shitty with melodic vocals.  my voice does death metal better.  so what, right?  well... i cannot approve your comments for one reason anymore.  if you're going to be on my friend/fan list here, please don't just try and advertise and be like "we're stopping by, showing some love, but come check our tunes out, we're amazing!" and such.  i already know you have the talent, even if you're not in the right genre you'd best fit in with.  But i'm not going to read your comment and approve it unless you show me you're human enough to say "i really dig this track!" or "what was the recording process like for that song?"  it's kind of like asking questions, getting personal with the artist, before you fucking spam them.

think of it like being born and never having a real life, and when you finally do, you're extremely overwhelmed by the fact everybody's trying to get you into one group or clique and tell you it's the best thing ever.  and then you go insane with rage and kill people in those groups or cliques mentally and never associate yourself with them as people anymore because you realize how bullshit it was.   that's how it's kind of feeling.  like it's a one-way road, regardless of if i say hi or tell you that you should stay tuned.

maybe, all of this will become a concept story for an album and it would bash every single person on the planet no matter how hidden or public they are.  and all that crap.

=== Conclusion: ===

some of you who do from time to time check into the blog to see what's going on, here's what is going on.  oh and plenty of good back-story too.

so after a long time of experimenting with ideas and not fully developing any of them, as well as including wasting my own time or having my time wasted by others, depends on which way you want to look at it, but most likely myself wasting my own time...

here are some updates!

i've got one song fully recorded instrumentally, an old classic from a previous injection of mountain dew and bull semen.  it was hard to dictate what should be in the sections, if sections should be shortened or extended like a helping hand, or if certain notation should be tweaked with to such a point while playing live that there will once again be no way to remember how the lead solo was played.  we're not talking fast solos like powerglove or dragonforce, or even megadeth.  we're talking a lead with a phaser and delay on it.  almost egyptian-influenced.  maybe more like queen of the damned, since at the time this song and 3 others were recorded with the most off ideas and methods, that movie was in fact on a lot.

it is known as "Failing Alone" and you will eventually get to hear it once i actually can write words to this song and execute it properly.

aside that, recently in the last 72 hours while working on a midi controller mostly that i actually have been trying to sell, i have come up with 2 demo ideas, 1 full song that was a leftover from "The Occult" recording sessions, with vast improvement and extra sectioning added to it to extend it, and already am coming up with a new idea which actually to me, scares me.  i was an 80's child in that i was born in it, but now it's coming to haunt me in the writing process, making it sound like a lot of sequencer stuff you'd hear in most artists' works back in the day plus the typical octave-divided dance groove.  don't fret none however, it's so far only going to be the intro to the song, unless i find a way to maliciously use it in a manner more crude than having 5 dimensions.

some older songs from "The Occult" will also probably surface eventually.  i've kind of gotten my energy back after the soul-suckers of life came along and drained me.

i primarily thought i had lost myself in a creative blizzard where there was nothing for hundreds of miles around me, and i believed it until earlier this summer when a local band had inquired with me about playing bass for them.  within 4 weeks, they showed professionalism and a sense of humor, they have shown great patience, and have been as dedicated to teaching me the parts as much as i have been dedicated to ensuring that i'm not being lazy regarding playing back their work on my part, made of bass guitar and synth bass.

though there is most likely at the moment no official announcement made, which i'm fine with, i can say that this band will go places with their sound and style, and their approach to intelligent craftsmanship of music and realistic approach to the lyrical content.  after hearing it and practicing/playing it, it felt right at home.  this is what i should've been a part of long ago this year.  people who actually have their materials ready to go and ready to learn, and as challenging as it all is, it's totally amazing to my ears.

to check them out, go to http://www.myspace.com/destinationoblivion

i've also been debating on how much i should really get to work on getting "The Occult" re-recorded and releasing it as the Omega Edition, and letting the Alpha Edition just kind of go out there online and fade to black.  the album is half-reality and half-concept, and it hit at home with a lot of things, to me at least, that impacted my life over the last 8 years of telling some of my life stories and offering a perspective on why we are not where we should be today.

aside that, really, i'm 2 full songs into "Harmageddon 2032" and 2 demo ideas are afloat with it as well.  all of it starts based on real audio or MIDI compositions.  i'm finding MIDI as helpful once again as it was when recording "The Occult" and i'm probably going to take it a few steps further and put it to more extensive use.  i won't lace the album entirely with MIDI, but most of the work itself is MIDI related in that it's composed and then later tweaked with appropriately to accomodate the feel of the song or to offset it so that it doesn't sound like a radio-friendly hit (which i don't ever want to see my shit on terrestrial radio ever).  that same ideology was the fuel for "The Occult" but of which it yet spawned a few songs that could be played on the radio if properly edited to be "radio-friendly" in itself.  and those that would know me well by now know that i am not one for censorship and still think the parents of their children under the age of 13 and 18 should be held responsible in what they try to shelter them from.  eventually, since you know, we're in the digital age, they're going to find access to it one way or another.

with such said, it's been a great pleasure to update you with what is going on, and after i get these two projects handled 100%, i'm going to take a small hiatus while dealing with D:O and my obligations to them, and when I'm ready to get back to working on my own materials again, it will intentionally be an instrumental album of sort, focusing primarily on the idea that it should be implemented in a video game or a various amount of video games that would exist on the market or do not exist yet.  my idea for this is because it would give me practice in scoring for tv or film or even itself VG if i ever got an offer to do such, which i'd die to have a chance to do one day while still being active in musical reference.

Studio Update:

"Failing Alone" is done being tracked so far right now.  there may be a re-recording of the lead sections in the verses and maybe the ending bridge, but so far, it sounds like it's done.  the mixing job is going to be somewhat difficult as there are so many percussive elements on separate tracks that require a gentle amount of mixing, and with the bass driven frequencies in those percussive elements, it's going to be hard to mix the guitars and bass guitar in with that, but it's going to get done no later than saturday at noon.  vocal trackings will begin after writing words for the material.  if you're savvy to browse to FaceBook, go to my FaceBook page and check out the latest post.  It is a demo of the material in the making.

if you'd prefer to wait to see the material hit MySpace, then do wait until then.  i'm expecting to have it up early next week.

on top of that, the remainder of the materials developing for "Harmageddon 2032" are coming along nicely.  It seems this may be a short EP of sort, so it won't be very major.  But it will show a landmark I think in where things have gone since "The Occult" and where things will probably go from there.

On a side note, I'm practicing bass and synth bass parts for a local Portland OR band who actually are very awesome dudes.  Day 1 we ironed out 3 songs, and I got them down in about 3 hours, and 6 days later, I was up to 8.  This weekend will be the last 4 we learn and practice so I can get to developing the right way to play them for on-stage when the time comes.  They are seeking a drummer who doesn't have an ego and can actually play without having to marvel in their own ways that even if they were drunk or sober, that they believe they're the greatest drummer in the area or world and they don't have to worry about practicing.

If you happen to be a drummer in the PDX area, and would like to contact them to see if you can get a gig playing drums with them, send me a message.  I'd be glad to contact them and forward their information to you.  If you're curious, they're a blend of Industrial and Metal, and it is written very intelligently.  The music is intelligent and complex, and the lyrics actually have a strong message, which is why alongside the challenges learning their songs present, that I have chosen to stay on board with them.

Anywho... update for now!

come august 2009 (or by it for a lack of other statement), you will see an overhaul on my myspace page here.

after a brief amount of time studying a few things and talking with a few friends of mine, i've come to a conclusion.  it won't be shared here at this moment.

all i will say:

come august 2009, you will see an overhaul on this page.

come august 2009, you will hear new materials that have developed lately.

come august 2009, you will hate me or side with me.

come august 2009... you might wish you were me...

until then, that is all.

i've come quite a bit in depth with ideas, but at the moment, they're to me, not showing any sort of relevance to "now" vs. back about 2 or 3 years ago, it would've been relevant actually.

so with this, i found a few new fun sounds and toys to mess with, and i'm going to develop something that is not going to be pretty or easy to hear.  a lot of this is going to as well stem from really really deep personal matters.  if it offends you, tough luck.  i gotta write, and get a lot more shit off my chest than perceptual concepts of the reality we're living in right now and how we're being fucked with.

as well, the sound... well... if you heard "The Occult: Stories for 2012 [Alpha Edition]" by any given chance (which you will have heard pieces of if you streamed my work on here), the sound is going to depart from the "genre" in a sense of whatever you'd call it, but maintain whatever it is you might want to hear.

well... simply put... don't expect anything grand or miniscule with this project.  i've finally found the calling that needs to be done right now, and how i convey it, well, if you find an appreciation for it, that's awesome.  i'm not expecting you to at this point.

my life is a plague and all that there is to me is sickness that i cannot cure, but i can treat it how i see fit.  this is the perception going into this now, and i plan to abuse the fuck out of it quite honestly, because i'm not really going anywhere at this point.  i'm not going down or up.  so, might as well roil in this cage a bit more, and revisit some shit.

So I've listened to this album back to back a few times and took a few notes.

The current edition released in 2008 that you've heard on here or maybe have bought, is lacking in a lot of areas quality-wise... this to me translates to "could be better mixed".

With that said... anyone who has bought the copy from 2008 will receive the Omega Edition later this year.  I know who has purchased a copy.

The Omega Edition track listing is as follows, and will be available within the next couple months:

01. Domestic Disturbance
02. Shut
03. Atrium
04. The Future We Left Behind
05. Apologue
06. Malice
07. The Death Cradle
08. Immolation
09. Deity
10. The Occult
11. Virgo Rising
12. Desolation
13. The Aftermath
14. My Arid Mistake
15. This Is Forever

13-15 were not on any recording releases, but at one point or another have been heard most likely.

this is just news for you to soak for now.

you will see the massive improvements/results soon.  i will even package the old recordings for free and give you the ability to know what i'm talking about after hearing the remastered product.

To commemorate more than 5 years of Arcane Addiction existing as an underground artist, I will be collecting a few things, putting it together, and packaging it for you to have.

The method however, I will debate upon...  and it will be made available as soon as it is time.

I'll make sure to make links available in the future on the myspace page just so you can see for yourself.

Until then, today is day 1 of studio recording, and it begins as soon as I wake up after I sleep.

it's almost time... and already 2 songs are completed, that's right... not "demo'd" but completed.  strange how gearing up gets you to effectively do things the right way and strange how the results are a much better sounding mix and song entirely than you'd probably have had the first time around.

so, i will plan on keeping you informed via audio blogs about whatever may be necessary at the time, as well as text updates via the news feed at the official website.

Codename Prophecies is prepare for launch...

start telling your friends now, because it's what i ask of you only at this point.  you are not obligated to anything later, but i want you to be obligated to me right now, just, to tell your friends, to come to my music page, check it out, if they like it, they can get the entire album in very high MP3 quality format plus extras, from the paypal button not-so-cleverly built onto the page via Cascading Stress Sheet.

and by next weekend, look for "Never Give", the first song fully mixed for the album, as well as requested by a survey during last month.

godspeed to your future
