Here’s the PDF for the event posted on the Nocturne site.
I’m really looking forward to this
I will be bringing along two 31.5″x39.4″ canvases to paint.
I’ll also bring along a variety of my current studio works.
Look for the blond in a little black dress behind the easel.
Hope to see you there.

I will be showing my work and also live painting
the event! The work will be completed by the end of the evening [as per
usual], and I will be doing a large piece this time. I am greatly
looking forward to painting in this beautiful restaurant/bar, located
in the Prince George Hotel at 1725 Market St in Halifax.
Visit giohalifax.com for more info on the restaurant itself. It is a beautiful venue!
Say hello while I’m painting if you stop by! Thanks for reading!! - Sharon

Stewart Hardy from England asked me earlier this year if he could use my Fiddle Player piece for the cover of his new violin instructional book (Which comes with a CD!).
He kindly sent me a couple copies after it was printed.
It looks awesome.
I wish Stewart Hardy the best. I love listening to violin music.
(Not to mention the beautiful motions made by a fiddle player… are fun to capture in paint… I must paint more.)
You can hear his beautiful music here: http://www.myspace.com/stewarthardy
[I would have updated sooner, but the book copies he mailed to me
were somehow mis-sent to India before finally making it here, and thus
took significantly longer to get here…]

This evening I was visiting a friend who happens to have cable television. It was on. So anyways… this is how I came to see this commercial for myhrm.ca .
It flashed an image of me painting the Coal Train mural on the Dartmouth harbour from two years ago. I couldn’t believe it!
That mural is getting press lately! (The Chronicle Herald last week, and CTV as well?)
Here’s the myhrm.ca video page that features the commercial:
Nifty initiative they have here… like a pay it forward sort of deal. Be a good neighbor and thus create good neighborhoods. Cheers to that.

I did these two dolphins for two different companies through Easter Seals Nova Scotia. [This one for NS Casino, and the other for Global Maritimes.] There are a growing number of dolphins along the Halifax waterfront now!
This one features some of the celebrities who have performed at Nova Scotia Casino, including a local fire eater.
The front features a show girl holding a fan of cards.

It was even weirder that it shared cover space with Michael Jackson, saying he was going to open a casino in Las Vegas.
It was even weirder when he died three weeks later.

Here’s my dolphin design for Global Maritimes.
It features Family Guy, the Simpsons, [and my rendition of Bones and 24 on the other side.]
It also has landmarks and flags for Prince Edward Island, Nova
Scotia and New Brunswick worked into the design. There’s a couple
lighthouses, Magnetic Hill, and an Anne of Green Gables statue.
I had fun extending Marge’s hair up the nose of the dolphin.

“Musical Instruments on Table 2″ - acrylic on stretched canvas. 31″x38″
I don’t know that I ever posted this one. It’s the second in a still
life series I have been gradually putting together. It’s really weird
for me to paint anything still rather than moving.
I want to paint the table from different angles over time with different instruments/objects and different colour schemes. The first one I did was the same size and used colours more “true to life”. This one is a touch more Van Gogh.

“The Company House” - two 12×16″ stretched canvas panels painted live during Word Iz Bond presents SPEAK!
I haven’t painted a two-panel live painting in a while and it turned out really nicely this time.
This was my first time painting inside the Company House. There are
lovely bright red walls and black curtains within, and art on the
walls. This venue has a nice look and feel. I painted a two panel piece
and read one poem. The guest poet was Poetic Speed (originally from
Nigeria). He lives up to his name, because he spits his rhymes quickly!
He’s also an artist, and he had some excellent famous portraits on
display. I love the opportunity to meet other artists.
As is usual for this event, I painted under low light (by
candlelight). I am appreciative of the brightly lit tones that come
forword on the poets on the stage.

I have been so incredibly busy this summer and am very behind on art blogging updates. Now, excuses aside…
This is a piece I did at a party at Aperture Studios on Barrington St in May for fantasy art model Drakaina Muse.
I did the piece back when my digital camera was not working
properly, and did not feel that any photos I took of the work did it
justice. No one at the event was able to get me pictures of the piece,
so.I held onto the painting to get a good shot when the faulty camera
was replaced. Now that I have a working camera, I have to play catchup!
I used metallic green and yellow paint to make this piece stand out.
Drakaina was busy being an absolutely delightful hostess and was rarely
within sight while I was painting this work, but I think her guests
enjoyed having a live painter present. This photo studio has an open
concept, and is naturally lit by large beautiful windows overlooking
Barrington St. Drakaina’s images were on every wall. There was a white
dog sniffing around people’s feet on a leash. Most guests were dressed
very fancy in lovely sexy dresses or sharp, dark suits. There was a
buffet table filled entirely with cake and candy.
You can view countless fantasy art images of Drakaina on her website: http://drakaina.com/
She sells books, posters, etc of her fan art if you are interested.
She greatly appreciates artists who want to render an image of her in
your own style, so feel free to drop her a line.

 The
Chronicle Herald published a story today about the care and ongoing
implementation of public art in HRM with a call for proposals from the
city.I’m posting the link but remember the Herald deletes their own web
content from public view fairly quickly:
This article featured a picture of one of the public mural projects
I participated in a couple years back - the Coal Train on the far right.
In other news…
I actually just put in a mural proposal with the city for a wall 172′ long. I’ll let you know if I get it.
I’ll be live painting at the Company House for the first time next Thursday, 9pm during SPEAK! with Word Iz Bond. Find out why Halifax is known for writing talent. Maybe you might even want to get up on the microphone and say a few words. If I can do it anyone can.
I’ll keep you posted.
