I know most of you are familiar with the phrase "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is", well I am feeling a little creative right now and have change the phrase to "Put Your Walk Where Your Talk Is" because you've also heard the saying "Talk is Cheap". That is also true.
We can not just talk about things, we have to be about it. Don't say it if you don't mean it. It is a lot more to meaning it than just a feeling. One must be committed to a thing with all his/her heart. This means no matter what, come hell or high water "You Are" going to see this thing to it's completion even if you are left all alone doing so. It is so easy to volunteer one self for something according to how one feel at the time an idea or task has been brought to light, but it takes more than a feeling. You must be committed!
You've also heard the phrase "My Word Is Bond," this means so much more than just saying "I'm down." In the word of God it simply say:
(Matthew 5:37)
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. (KJV)
Simply let your ..Yes' be ..Yes,' and your ..No,' ..No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. (NIV)
"But let your statement be, ..Yes, yes' or ..No, no'; and anything beyond these is of evil. (NASB)
I come simply to make you think before the next time you are ask to do something, be a part of something or an idea is brought to light in your presence and you quickly say YES. You respond quickly because it sounds good at the time and you haven't even given it a second thought as to what it entails i.e. time, cost etc.
Example: (One of my stories)
I was part of a Christian women group not mentioning a name, and we had a project before us with a deadline. I said I would personally make the tickets myself for a raffle and make one of the two winning prizes (the gift basket). I volunteered to do this because it sounded good at the time and my creativity got the best of me, mind you no monies was given me for this project. None-the-less, at my word I was committed to completing this project. Later, I was told by one of the committee members that they were going to get the tickets elsewhere. Due to a breakdown in communication, a day before the presentation to the rest of the 25 group members I recieve a phone call asking if I had the tickets ready. I had not worked on it at all because I was told they were getting the ticket elsewhere. You know immediately God brought to my remembrance that I gave my word. I had another engagement I had promised to attend that day and didn't want to break my word on that either so I went. I didn't get home from that engagement until 12:30/1:00a. Immediately after getting in at that time of the morning although frustrated, tired and sleepy; I begin the task ahead of me. Arriving at the presentation with the finished product with about a little less than 2 hours of sleep, everyone stated the tickets were done nicely. I printed and cut about 400 ticket for the group to sell for the raffle project. To God be the Glory and that's the end of the story!!! Now that was commitment.
In His Service,

PS. This is not just for Christians, this is for everyone because we all have committed to something in our lifetime and let the ball drop. So please, think about the cost before you say I will or I'm In.
