Hey everyone, Royce here. I thought I'd give you an update about the new album coming we have coming out. It's called IN THE GRIP OF THE MACHINE.

Ok, so we recorded it at Turkey Vulture Records studio in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin back in May of this year. They record several bands throughout the year and then they mix all the albums during the Fall and Winter.  Most of the albums only take a few days to record and only a few weeks to mix. IN THE GRIP OF THE MACHINE, however, is a huge album. It's a little over an hour long, with our shortest song being around five minutes. The longest one is somewhere over 9 minutes long.

Plus there's lots of parts. Just like, LOTS of guitar layers and vocal layers. And all the parts are intricate as hell. We took a total of 16 days straight, 10 hours a day, to record everything. And it's estimated that mixing it is going to take twice as long to mix as usual, and mixing began about a week ago.

So anyway, its coming! And it's going to be fucking amazing! Just gotta have patience when it comes to an album like this. We don't have a release date for it yet, but it will be out this Winter. So, yeah, there's the update!  Hope that clears things up!  Let us know if you have any more questions about it!

Well it was a chore, but im done. Jason Z helped me reach another high point in my life. It was a challenge to get everything just right but it was fun. I feel accomplished and I hope you all enjoy a piece of my life's work when this album comes out.

Of course before I head into the studio im gonna grap some new Evans heads to slap on there. EMAD kick, Power Center snare, gonna try out some EC2 coated for maximum attack for my toms, a G1 clear for maximum ring for my brass side snare, and ? for the 6" octoban? Want to go thin on the head, as it already has a Tama hazy 250 (2.5mil) head on it, which will be destroyed in another month. The thinest head evans makes in a 6" is a Resonant Glass (7 mil) head.

Thinking about going with that, I dont want to loose much sustain since it is already pretty dry due to its size. But punchy is good for what im using it for (accents, quick fills and such).

Any advice or coments?

This is my first fully professional recording session, so of course im overanalizing things and stressing a bit (especially in my  performance dept., I have to nail all my parts)

Stay tuned, I hope to see you all @ the Skeletonwitch show.

James

Hey everyone, as you know, we had to end our working relationship with our bassist Grant at the beginning of this year. We had some fun times, which will be missed.

But, from bad news comes good news; Our original founding bassist Justin McCall is returning to Submerged In Dirt! Justin was with us for our first year of shows and contributed music for some of your favourite songs like The Autumn Son and Mars Rain. His huge presence on-stage and solid playing will be a welcome addition to the band we have grown to be during his absence. So welcome him back and get ready for the good times that lie ahead!

**EDIT 1 13 08: I ACTUALLY DID END UP PLAYING THE GUITAR THAT NIGHT. I SUPERGLUED A PICK TO MY THUMB AND FOREFINGER. IT WASN'T PRETTY BUT WE GOT THE JOB DONE. ALSO, BE ON THE LOOKOUT NEXT MONTH FOR OUR FEATURE ARTICLE IN THE "METAL FOR THE MASSES" SECTION OF NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA ENTERTAINMENT MAG "THE CURRENT".!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!**

Just letting all you guys know that I did indeed have to have part of my finger amputated. They did it yesterday at the Warren Surgical Centers in Tulsa OK. I don't even know how much they took, but it Damn sure hurts like a Bitch. I won't be playing the guitar at tomorrow's show, but I think i'll pull some dual vocals with Lee if he doesn't mind me butchering his lyrics. We're not doing much booking in the next few months, not just because of my finger, or lack thereof, but we're all working very hard on the writing of our new album. We'll be recording with TVR in May and we need to have this all new music tight as possible. I promise you this will be the best sounding, heaviest and most well-written collection of music any of us has ever been a part of! thanks to all you guys for your continued support!
