Check out this blog post from Margaret Ruth at Intent.com. It is good advice for people that have cold-sales, searching for a job, or out dating. Talking it out with a friend can be helpful, but ultimately you know what you have going on. Got to be true to yourself.

I know I have a few people that are film talent following my blog. I'm going to credit you as one of the smart people for at least opening and looking at this blog post. So you are ahead of the game now!

Demo Reel Deal
I have a very limited time, special price for creating a demo reel for just $400. This is a special within a special... Miko is offering 20 demo reels at an introductory price of $500. Once those 20 have been reserved with a deposit the price is going up to $1250, which is still a great rate for this offer.
It includes four clips, original scripts, range of emotions portrayed, equipment, locations, makeup, hair, ... the list is huge and you get a professional production.

Please read my regular blog post to get the details fully spelled out. Call me to reserve or discuss this offer! Don't call someone else ... this is my offer for you. My phone is 248-632-6156.

Talent Website for Low TOO
I am a website developer in addition to being a photographer. How many people have their own website - with their demo reel, photo gallery, downloadable contact sheets, and a personal blog for news? PLUS there is a photo shoot in the deal to get headshots and photos with a couple 'in character' outfits.

Fuzzytek's Talent Website Price: $400

Put these two offers together and you have established a presence online for yourself that will be not only visible, it will be attracting directors, screen play writers, and more to checking YOU out! Detroit's talent is looking at film. Film is here in Detroit with an exponential growth in casting agents. Leading roles quite often are awarded talent that has a demo reel showing the range of skill you have, and a website that advertises what projects you are part of. Believe me there are film makers that don't have a website this attractive yet!

DWIFF Newsletter Excerpt
Excerpt below republished from the DWIFF newsletter

About six years ago, newbie director Sam Kadi, decided to make a music video about two violinists. That project sparked a 6 year obsession to make a film the Michigan native says has a universal message - life is too short to be away from loved ones.

That film is called "Raised Alone" and it focuses on one man's compulsive work habits which endanger his relationship with his son, Adam. Adam eventually finds a unique way to gain his father's attention. The turning point in the film centers around a phone call between father and son, one of those honest conversations only a child can bring about. At this point things start to change for them both.

Like most independent filmmakers, Kadi has a "real job" working as a mechanical engineer. He considers himself one of the lucky ones though. He was able to receive what every independent filmmaker dreams of -- cold hard cash from an investor. Says Kadi, "It's a blessing to have the power to say what you want to say, to display the truth and hit on a subject that matters to people."

Kadi's passion is evident when he speaks of what's ahead for him -- an expansion of "Raised Alone" into a feature length film, an exciting new screenplay, and more directing. Then, is when his real job will coincide with his dream job. And we'll all be better for it.

3am Tip-Toe Parade During Spacewalk

Area Creatives Utilize Talent to Draw Interest and Give to Detroit

June 9, 2009
DETROIT - This weekend, Detroit will undergo a transformation lead by its citizens. The 24 Hour Community Spacewalk will be performed by actors, dancers, poets, musicians and many other artists of all ages. Spacewalk unites communities providing vision, awareness, and hope for an energized core to the metropolitan Detroit area. It is our belief that when the roots of the city are cared for growth is inevitable. Our outreach spans cultural divides of income, race, location, interests, language, and politics. Spacewalk is all inclusive. We support unity of purpose, that being to renew the city at its core. As such triage of needs indicates we must provide food, clothing, eyeglasses, toiletries, books, and more to Detroit's homeless and at risk citizens. We are not alone and have support from churches, non-profit organizations, business owners, and elected officials.

One of the activities happening as the clubs let out around Detroit is our gathering outside Comerica Park for the Tip-Toe Parade to commence at 3am. We'll be traveling as a loosely formed group on the side of Woodward north to Martin Luther King Blvd then to 3rd Ave, the vacant field at this location is where our feast for the homeless will take place from 9am-noon.

What is a Tip Toe Parade? We ask people to bring brightly colored, glowing, fluorescent, and unique outfits. You could see stilt-walkers, winged humans, psychedelic tie-dyed outfits, glowing balloons. Even wearing a glow necklace is enough. As a quiet gathering the word is SHHHH. No words are to be spoken as we tip toe down the street. We will have a select handful of parade marshalls that will guide the parade mostly through hand gestures as communicated as we gather at Comerica Park. This is not a race but a visual feast of fun and community building. We are walking for and towards a purpose - the feast for the homeless Sunday morning.

Throughout the 24 hours of Spacewalk we will be accepting donated food items for our stone soup crocks that will be part of the feast for the homeless on Sunday June 14. All we ask is for you to bring an ingredient or two to the vehicle near the City of Detroit flag bearer. What sort of ingredients work? An onion, stick of celery, carrot, broccoli, bouillon cube, potato, .... we'll then slice it up and add to one of the 15 gallon crocks that are heating during the journey.

Additional donations in clothing, shoes, eyeglasses, books, toiletries, and more are being distributed Sunday morning from 7am-noon. Seasonal needs are most appreciated.

The event will kick off at noon on June 13th on Belle Isle and has a path that weaves through the downtown area plus Artists Village. Closing for Spacewalk is at noon on June 14th, at which time additional worthwhile activities gain attention through publicity brought during Spacewalk.

Ultimately everyone is a Spacewalker - performers and observers. YOU, the people of Detroit, spreading and accepting our felicitous messages make Spacewalk. Come be a part of this.
