I'm open to suggestions but what I'm doing with the new blog is similar to this one but without the Myspace censorship. Like today, I added a story about a woman who thinks God is writing to her on a doodle board she saw at a Big Lots store. ..And did you miss the story of Jesus and Mary "appearing" in Arizona? It's all at the Reality Hackers Truth SquadLeave comments! :)

I haven't abandoned you, honest. However, I am also working on building a new blog to deal with all kinds of beliefs and superstitions. I'm also looking for contributors so if you can turn a phrase and would like to contribute toward knowledge rather than ignorance (and even better if you can do it in a humorous way) ... consider helping out? In the meantime, you can find a couple of new stories there as I work on building my independent blog: The Reality Hackers Network.
Please come visit! Even if you don't want to contribute stories or articles, I hope you'll sign up as a commenter. :) I'm looking forward to seeing you there...

ABC News: Faith Healing Parents Assert Religious Rights"A Clackamas County, Ore., couple accused of letting their infant daughter die by relying on prayer, rather than medicine, today asked that the charges be dropped, arguing that they infringe on their freedom of religion and their right to raise their children in their own way."

A great blog entry by Roger Ebert, discussing Ben Stein and his "Expelled" movie... Win Ben Stein's mind - Roger Ebert's Journal. I'm afraid that 'ol Ben has more than a few screw loose but I still get the odd feeling that his whole defense of his work is like a Nixon speech. Also... you can read the latest on the atheist Christmas display in Washington State: What hath atheism wrought? A mess. Well, religionists can throw all the fits they want (and steal signs to show what good Christians they are) but the fact is that the U.S. constitution prohibits the government from favoring a particular religion - So... if you insist on having official government nativity scenes, then that same GOVERNMENT must let everyone else put up their messages. It's all or nothing, take your pick. Finally... just for fun, you may wish to peruse the TOP TEN Crazy Cults. --- Support The Truths...

Over at scienceblogs there's a story about how the Cincinnati Zoo cut a deal with The Creation Museum - now you can get entry to both for one price. Sure, that makes sense; a zoo that is part of the Cincinnati school system btw - promoting anti-science. Shame.

There isn't a more slimy business than being a televangelist but Ted Haggard has found the next best thing... Haggard as Christian businessmanArticle quote... Earlier this month, a guest took the pulpit at Open Bible Fellowship in Morrison, Ill., a 350-member church surrounded by cornfields. The speaker was an insurance salesman from Colorado named Ted Haggard. For those who have forgotten, Ted Haggard is the former head of the National Association of Evangelicals and Mr. "I did not have sexual relations with that cabana boy.."

The Information Paradox: Secular Religious Freedom Does Not Equal 'Respect'
"Much has been made in the media about 'respecting' a person's religion. This is especially occurring as of late in the United Kingdom where Muslim immigrants are demanding accommodation and respect for their religious beliefs, which are many times at conflict with existing law and regulation. Though, not to pick on Muslims, there have been cases involving nearly every religion conceived by man, where a belief system is expected by its followers to be held in esteem by all, follower or not."

It may sound like a bit of a stretch until you discover how many of these bad investments were made at the ground level thanks to fundamentalist Christianity. Maybe We Should Blame God for the Subprime Mess

People haven't really changed. Every time something goes wrong in the world, someone out there will look for a group to blame. Televangelists like to blame gay people for hurricanes, and increasingly, the far right Christards are throwing witchcraft in there - Police: Teacher Attacked Over Witch ClaimThey burned witches because of the Plague - which was actually caused because Christian leaders' earlier claimed that cats were servants of Satan (people killed every cat they saw, rats multiplied, and you got the Plague). In that case Christianity caused the original problem and then promulgated the violent, evil "solution." Heck the VP nominee of one party has a pastor who insists that most of our problems today are caused by witchcraft ..and "Jew bankers," of course. Before he was that person's pastor, he was a professional witch hunter in Africa. Perhaps he will be made Secretary of State or something, hmm?

It is true that critics of Christianity may refer to "Magic Jesus" and such, but it really isn't out of line, is it? If you think of things like turning water into wine or walking on water, you realize that people take these things seriously only because they've been told to take them seriously. Otherwise, they are just cheesy David Blaine-type tricks and nothing more. Earliest reference describes Christ as 'magician'
