INTERNAL FACTS:

I have been asked countless times "what does -element a440- mean?" or "where did you come up with the name?". So I have decided to tell those of you here on the inside the answers to these questions.

First, I origially started out calling the project "a440". Meaning basicly all music of any genre is tuned to the key of "A" which pulsates at 440 Hz. I chose this simply because music is very important to me and because I wanted to find a name that wouldn't automaticly lock me into any specific type of genre just by a simple reading of the name. But, after realizing that there were already a few bands with that name I decided to add something special to it to give it a little more of a personal touch.
This symbol in the logo has a specific meaning, and I originally used it because I didn't want the word "element" in the logo but in order to avoid the seemingly ever growing confusion I went ahead and placed the word "element" into it.(If you notice on the -Selfish- CD cover the word "element" isn't there.) Well, its no mistake. The record was just completed before I made the decision to change it.

The meaning behind the SYMBOL is this:

Quinta essentia, the fifth element beside fire, water, earth, and air the element that is necessary to explain the diversity and multiplicity of life, the finest or best of any substance. The quintessence is an element that permeates all nature and is the constituent matter of the celestial bodies. The scholastics of the Middle Ages believed it to be the ether, the substance above the sphere of fire, and of which the human soul was made. In medieval alchemy the quintessence was the best part of a chemical substance that could be extracted with chemical methods. The alchemists therefore also used it for alcohol, the best or finest part of wine. For the more esoteric alchemists the quintessence and lapis philosophorum, the Stone of the Wise, were closely associated, and sometimes synonymous entities. Some say that the idea of a fifth element came from the Pythagoreans. The Chinese also counted five elements. For them, metal was the fifth element.

So, to me element a440 is my own personal substance that is absolutely necessary for me to even continue breathing. Even at times when it seems to be just a curse, I do know without it I wouldn't be here today.

Thanks to every one of you for your patience and support.

We've had to endure many bumps and bruises along the way to get to the point of where we're at now and it was all well worth it.  Much time and money have been spent working towards our new release due out in '09'  The recording improvements that we've made since the release of "Selfish" which was recorded in a bedroom on a 450mhz pc are substantial.  As always it is our intention to deliver the best possible record that we can.

We're very excited for the release of the new record and feeling your reaction from the metamorphosis that Element a440 will become!
