I'm shattered after a big ass french market. I mean the market was long, friday to monday. Not that we were selling big ass. Although these people would have bought anything. Especially if it was foreign.

Bakewell is seething with tourists. This was one hardcore market. I was doing the hard sell on the cider and saucisson, which is much more stimulating (and busier) than jams and caramelised fruit. No longer do I have to hear such inane comments as: "Oooh, look at all those Jams!" / Would you like to taste? "He said do you want a taste, Margaret?" "Oooh, yes... what is it?" / "Is it from France?" (Well you're in a fucking french market) / Use these clean sticks over here, those are the dirty ones: "Oooh, crikey" / So do you want to take the Tayberry and Cassis, then? "Oooh, no dear, I'm a diabetic" / "Look Deadrie, it's Turkish Delight. We used to have that when I was a little girl" I can cut you a little taste if you like. "Thanks" (Takes a whole piece) / "You're such a nice young man. What part of France are you from then?" or "You're not French!!" (as if I was trying to fool them - actually I still hear that, and perhaps I am trying to (subconsciously) fool them these days. Who knows what happens to me when I get into the zone)

I just watched a Horizon Documentary on global dimming (from 2005)... was really scary stuff. New independant research had come to light (from a few different sources) that showed things could be a lot worse than we thought, if we continue along our current path.

An excerpt from the BBC program summary:

Even the most pessimistic forecasts of global warming may now have to be drastically revised upwards. That means a temperature rise of 10C by 2100 could be on the cards, giving the UK a climate like that of North Africa, and rendering many parts of the world uninhabitable. That is unless we act urgently to curb our emissions of greenhouse gases.

From a comment on an entry at perfect.co.uk:

Anyone who saw Horizon's program on Global Dimming must now realise that we on Planet Earth now have about 25 years to take action. Global warming is in a very serious advanced stage. Science has now shown that the Global Dimming effect is a temporary mask, slowing down the warming. Temporary is the vital word because as the climate change effects of Global Dimming take effect, and the Monsoon rains fail, the sudden increase in forest fires pushes the CO2 levels to a point of no return.

Anyone even remotely intested in climate change or the future of humanity should see this documentary. It's a massive eye-opener!

Did you see that? The title of this blog?

That's what I'm feeling right now. I can't sleep, tried to relax & go to bed early.. was doing so well. But it wasn't working so I just had to get up...

Read some of the Barefoot Doctor's Daily DocBox which I get sent to my email account, auto-archived & ready for me to dive into... only had to read one to be given the gift of blissful quietude.

Then popped over to myspace in my tranquil state & rediscovered that awesomeness that are my friends, family & acquaintances... they are all so cool.

It was Annie, my little sister that put me in this mood. You have to check her profile - it was the first time I'd seen it since she filled it out. She is the culmination of all that is good in this world, so perceptive and wise. She cuts throught the bullshit. Just reading through what she'd written filled me with immense happiness & love.

Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my own thing, thinking how stuff's not going how I'd like it to in my life... but it doesn't matter, because I have such amazing people in my life. I can kid myself otherwise, but in the end.. I live for you.

Aparrently according to a few personality tests I just did I'm either 'ENTP' type (Rational/Inventor) or 'INTP' type (Rational/Architect). I think the description of INTP fits me closer, although so do a few others... ;)

Very interesting, anyway ;)

(Edit: I'm now quite sure that INTP is my type. Description of me is here and here.)

Here's a simple test at Bloginality, and links to more at TypeLogic... also a really comprehensive one at Personality100 that requires payment for the full report  - 10 quid tho, not too bad...

Also some of these sites claim they can match you up with someone based on your personality types... can't find the page now, but as far as I can remember, apparently I'd be best suited to a ENFJ... Take the test & apply here! (joke)

I do wonder if people can change to a different type throughout their lives, based on their learning & experiences. This is what I'm gonna find out next.

Yeah, christmas day (is nearly) over...

That wasn't so bad after all. Thought it might be stressful, but overall pretty good.

Saw my Dad yesterday. Still in awe of his plush new house. It's more the way they decorated it really.. his girlfriend is very good at interior design.

At my Mum's flat in Twickenham (West London) now with Lucy (one of my sisters) and Mo (an old mate from college & now Lucy's boyfriend) watching a prog about the 1,001 best comedy shows ever.. I'm sure you know the format. My mum is currently berating 70 percent of every show featured, which is really annoying as she hasn't even seen half of them..

As usual I'm being force fed cake & mince pies, but I'm managing to stagger it. he he...

Gonna go to my mate Lara's (originally an old friend of Lucy's, now my housemate in Manchester) for a MASSIVE PARTY (so I hear) so looking forward to that..

I can't be bothered to get pissed.. must be a good thing ;)
