I have just arrived. Staying in a pimp pad in the suburbs of Detroit. (God Bless Craigslist).
Listening to Joey Hebdo, chillin on the couch. To my left are my bags, and directly in front of me is my bike.
My Bike.
It will be my best friend. I need to find me a bike store, and get some tools. I am here without a car. I am living 8.3 miles from my set. Ill be going there for the next 11-15 week days. The plan is to ride out an hour before I have to be at work so I can go leisurely. Then work hard, and go back to the C-bus to put a down payment on a car. Ill have enough for that by then.
Anyway, life is gonna be pretty tough for the next couple weeks, but the reward will be ample.
Tonight I go to the pre party with cast and crew. (10.4 miles) So I think Im gonna ride out there first just to get the lay of the land. Plus I gotta run a few errands. Figure out where the bank is, bike shops, department stores, etc.
And thanks to John for bringing me here. There is plenty of other stuff he could have gotten into on a saturday.

Let it begin:

I wanted to write a blog, but I guess I didnt have a whole lot to say...
So I thought I would just start writing, and see what happens.
There is a great chance that no one will ever read this, cause I could just get annoyed and delete the whole thing.
So if you're reading this, its probably because I had a higher tolerance for the annoyance that is spewing out of my fingers and onto the screen than I expected. I am sorry for you.
Anyway, Im going to cincinnati tomorrow (today I guess. its after 2) to see my segment of the 48-hour film competition. I am in group B. It starts at 3. Robot Love from Another World is the movie, and its gonna be dope. Hopefully Ill get a link, and post it soon.
Mister Harris called me today asking for pictures from The Soloist. I gotta get him some. Thats a cool cat. There are good pictures, but since my computer fiasco a couple months ago, I havent gotten back to that stuff. Im on it now though. I havent looked at them in a while. They look pretty cool. Im happy with them.
Anyway, last night I drank like a liter of wine, and rode my bike 19 miles all over town to see bands and hang out with friends. Ive been cooped up in my house for a while, and now I have burst out again. I was pretty blizzerd. It was a good time. I woke up a little hurt, but felt alright pretty soon, and rode across town to Tommy Keegans, a soccer bar to watch Russia defeat the Netherlands 3-1. It was a good game, but they went double overtime, and I was about to pass out, and fall out of my chair. When the game was over, we all rode our bikes away. Brett peeled off at 7th street, and Mark and I rode together till we split at campus. A storm was a brewin, and it was windy. Tried to blow me off my bike, and whipped dirt from the big OSU construction site into my face. Im glad I was wearing the aviators so I had some semblance of goggles. I was still squinting though, and I kept crunching on those little pieces of sand...
Anyway, it was too windy to ride fast though I wanted to cause the rain was about to start coming down. Then it did, and it hurt. It was pelting me. Even got behind my aves, and hit me in the eyes a few times. Apparently it was supposed to hail. Thank the good lord that didnt happen before I got home...
But I was soaked.
Then I slept for a few hours, watched Hostel, talked to moms, and then started blogging. The rest of the evening was the awesome part...

Well. Im done.
Dear Grippie...
wanna see a Soloist picture of Doc?

If you didnt know, I worked on a TV show last winter for the History Channel called Surviving History. It was a show that was filmed at the Scare Factory here in columbus about Medieval torture where a bunch (bunch) of guys made torture devices and tried them out on each other.
Well, this past sunday June 15, that show had its world premier. It was good.
You should watch it, and tell me what you think. If all goes well, I might get to go back and work on season 2!
Surviving History.

So, there is this Columbus band called Swiss Army Mouth. They are an instrumental metal band. Lots of fun they are. They often play shows in work out gear, and do stretches before their set. And then they rock.
I shot a music video for them a few months ago--it was a big work out video. Pretty funny stuff.

So there is this battle of the bands website that they are apart of, and they are doing pretty well on it. Getting some votes. Right now they are neck and neck with this weak band called Strange Touch. There is no way Swiss Army should loose to this sappy song. The guys voice sounds like something Matt and Trey would make fun of.
But that is neither here, nor there.
You should go to this site, and vote. It takes a second. You dont have to register. But you oughtta listen to the music. Listen to some strange touch if you can...

Oh yes. and watch the Swiss Army music video if you need further convincing!

So...
yesterday my computer got runnd over by a car.
Now before you say how stupid I am for letting this happen, I just want to say, Im stupid for letting this happen.
There. Good.
Now, I am normally very good about these things. My camera stays good, and my computer stays good too mostly.
So what had happened was, at the time, I was at my job. I am a Locations PA on this movie in Cleveland. And I have been working in this hood called Hough. Most of the people there that I deal with regularly have been there for 50 or 60 years. My main cats are Mr. Harris, Miss Paterson, "Shorty", and Miss Blanch. Characters, all of them. Extremely interesting people they are, always telling stories, and offering insights. I have been fortunate enough to be very well received by them, and have been taking pictures. The only one how complains about it is Miss Paterson. And then its only because she has her curlers in. But when she's fresh, she hasnt been too bothered. But that is neither here, nor there. On this particular day at this particular time I was only talking to her off her porch. I was shooting Shorty.
I have recently realized that my time on Hough is coming to an end, and that I dont have pictures of everybody I wish I did. So I decided to get him. We had a bit of a rocky beginning, but he and I are getting along, and after all, he came over to us while I was shooting. I laid my bookbag belly down on the driveway. Right next to her porch.
It was a beautiful day, and I popped off maybe ten frames, and decided to go for a different angle. So I walked to the other side of him. Not much was there, so I took a picture of Miss Paterson's feet (she was in curlers), and leaned up against her porch.
Just then her friend pulled up. He pulled into the driveway. I, not thinking anything of my bag nonchalantly walked around the porch just in time to see his right front tire on top of my bag as if driving down the other side of a speed bump. I yelled stop, but cooly picked up my bag and ran inside. In my head, I was screaming, "OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD...".
I opened it up. Everything seemed to be in tact except there was (is) a dent in the area of the "wert, sdf, xcv" keys. I looked at the display, and the light was off. If you have a macbook, and you turn the brightness all the way down, it goes off. You can still see the display, but only in the right kind of light. So I looked around a bit. Everything-is-still-in-tact.
At that I breathed 3/4 of a sigh of relief.

There are four things I need to survive:
A Phone,
A Camera,
A Car, and
A Computer.

I have them all right now but I need to upgrade most of them; I really need to get a new car. Soon. Next on the list was an iPhone, then a Camera, then Maybe a new computer. I just got mine 8 months ago. I wanted to get some more ram, and space! Maybe a gadget or two. Not a whole new damn computer!
And I have more research to do, but it seems like fixing it will cost $800 or more. I spent $800. So I may be looking at a new machine. Which will be cool cause itll be new, and buttery with all kinds of exciting new software, and Ill still have all my work which will be pretty trick as well.
And then maybe Ill post some more pictures of this gig.

I feel as thought there is more that I should say, but my eyes refuse to work anymore. I am gonna be asleep in a moment. There will be no counting sheep for me. Best believe.

I just got the new Portishead album.
yeah, Ive talked about it. But goodness gracious, its cool. I am not disappointed. Still getting my hear around some of the songs, but I really dig it. Its my most anticipated album since Speakerboxx/Love Hater. So, go Geoff Barrows!

Anyway, Im in cleveland working on The Soloist. We just wrapped photography last night. The shoot went well. I made lots of friends in the neighborhood, and made some good contacts. I also got the head nod from Jamie Foxx! And I met Kel Mitchel from that movie, Good Burger. Which I havent seen. I just recognized him. He seems like a nice enough guy.
Anyway, Im in the locations department, and so had a TON of work to do. We wrapped at 3am, and I didnt get out till like 6. I had a 16-hour day. My manager had like a 20-hour day. We were worked, and I slept hard, but woke up to the phone from the eks, and tried to go right back to bed. But to little avail. I pretty much rose to the surface like a balloon, and just got up after a while. I was exhausted all day because of it. But, I had to take a little advantage of the holiday anyway. Went to Lennie's and hung there for a bit. Then I went to pool with The eks. Very bad pool was played, but I won. We got some taco bell, and hung out in my car till my batterie died. So I needed a jump. Her mom's car was close by. When it was over we both backed away slowly, and drove off. I wont see her for a while.

First of all, I have portishead's new album, and I think it might be really good. But then, I like portishead a lot, and may be slightly biased in my premature assessment.
I also am on a bit of a system of a down kick. I am curious how my mind will react to the mix...
So, rock on.
so, I am in cleveland working on a Dream works movie called "The Soloist". Basically, its a Jamie Foxx movie based on a true story about a kid who grew up in cleveland with some mental problems, then went to juliard for the Cello, and had a mental breakdown. I think its gonna be cool.
I am also working in the locations dept, so I am learning a lot that I never thought about thinking about. Im learning about behind the scents behind the scenes.
Anyway, I have been taking lots of pictures, and Ill have to see about uploading some, but gracious me...I have to be on set tomorrow, and I am already sleep deprived. I cant elieve that I am even hanging out in 'the space' right now.
I mean, you know, eight glasses of water a day plus eight hours of sleep a night will add eight extra years to your life.
I just made that up. But it sounds true like the thing about doctors stay away from you if you eat a lot of apples. I actually think it repels them. Like garlic to vampires.
A garlic clove a day keeps the vampires away!

I need a piano
I need a Car
I need to do my taxes
I need a new camera

Car is basically priority one. I almost bought a piano today. I really want to buy one tomorrow. A piano is much cheaper than a car, unfortunately I really need a car more than a piano. But Bud’s pianos are sooo nice. I was feeling quite the same way about a camera. But a camera costs more than a piano too. I really need to get me a new camera. Well...not really really. Thats more like priority four. I forgot to mention that I need a washer and dryer. Thats more along the lines of priority two. Though I still do need to do my taxes. I guess thats more like priority...1.5? I bought a Dear Grippy t-shirt last night. That wasnt really high up on the priority list, but it was much cheaper than a piano.
