“F*** visuals we're sinking every last penny into the sound system!" - Amon Tobin

Back in early 2007 Amon Tobin released his latest full length album titled Foley Room and put together a tour focusing on the sound and the music, rather then thinking too much about lights, projections and stage antics. After all, this is music.

It's about the sound and the shared experience of being immersed in waves of bass while dissonant collections of rhythm and melody move, confuse, annoy you a bit then move you again. a passionate affair this recording is an attempt to capture not just the music but the atmosphere of the show as a whole.

The long awaited, full-length, official recording of the legendary 2007 Foley Room tour is finally available at
www.amontobin.com !  Recorded by Studio Brussels at the world famous AB theatre in Belgium - which arguably has the best sound system in Europe. After months of back and forth and despite everyone’s best efforts the mix was in danger of being edited into the ground to accommodate big labels and publishers. Rather than release a compromised version commercially, the decision was made to give it away for free instead. you can download the mix as it was intended to be heard along with the full digital booklet at www.amontobin.com

That's right, we could have sold you half of it, but instead we are giving you all of it, for free!

Since June this year, Amon Tobin's website and web store has consistently introduced new content to fans and enthusiasts. Amon's corner of the internet has provided all kinds of stuff for the tobincurious. Everything from sound designed creatures to rare mixes and even a section for videos created by fans has been lovingly presented to casual visitors and avid completists alike. We hope alongside all the freebies you will continue to support the site and most importantly the music. An exclusive 'monthly joint' is available on the site alongside various other custom creations. These are previously unreleased tracks available legitimately only from

Ninja Tune has released a 4-song remix ep of Amon Tobin's song titled Kitchen Sink from his latest album, Foley Room. The release features remixes from Clark, Noisia, Boxcutter and Sixtoo and available now through itunes

"Foley Room," as you may remember, was built solely using found sounds recorded by Tobin and a team of technicians. These sounds were then monkeyed about with to create the kind of audio rush that Tobin is rightly renowned for. The title of "Kitchen Sink" hopefully gives you some clue as to the origins of the noises involved, but now these sources have been farmed out to an intrepid and international band of remixers.

Warp's Clark kicks things off with a mix that can only be described as akin to watching a ballerina rise up out of a music box carrying a chainsaw. Dreamy, childlike, oddly funky and scary. Boxcutter (known to his mum as Barry Lynn) ups the intensity a notch further with a seething, intricately-detailed dub-stepper on which he drops a backward guitar solo during the breakdown. Canadian MC/producer and Ninja-mate Sixtoo gives the original a lacerating acid drive and hypnotic groove. Finishing off in a fourth country, Holland's avant gardists Noisia deconstruct the d&b blueprint, leaving gaps in their rollouts and a fairytale atmosphere benaeth pounding drums.

So there you go. England, Northern Ireland, Canada and Holland. Artists working at the edges of techno, hip hop, drum & bass and dubstep. Everything but the kitchen sink. Plus the "Kitchen Sink". Spooky.

Songs posted now!

Press Release for "Amon Tobin at the Kentish Town Forum - Nov 15th 2007"
Amon Tobin will be performing a 90 minute DJ set in 7.1 Surround Sound, presenting a live mix of his new material from "Foley Room" alongside the music that inspired him to make it. Unlike conventional DJ sets, his set will focus more on composing new arrangements live on the decks, than on simply matching songs that share a similar bpm. The mixes will be treated more as layers in an arrangement than as transitions between tracks, and the decks will be used more like samplers manipulating sources from vinyl than as turntables. Amon Tobin's influences are broad and therefore the set he will play will reflect these with the inclusion of everything from hip hop to soundtracks to dn'b. Sumptuous sonic indulgences and his love for the more bizarre and visceral aspects of dn'b will be reflected in the content of the set.

Support from Chris Clark (Warp)

Amon Tobin is teaming up with dance choreographer Kimberly Cooper to create a ground-breaking performance taking place in January and February of 2008. The performance will be a dance interpretation of Amon's music accompanied by an exclusive mix of both existing and unreleased material.

wowandflutter offers audiences a beautiful soup of otherworldly wonder

CALGARY, AB… Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Artistic Associate and Resident Choreographer Kimberley Cooper will take the audience on an epic groove-laden ride through an otherworldly realm that spans from outer space to the bottom of the ocean with her groundbreaking new creation wowandflutter, playing at The GRAND Theatre from January 31 – February 10, 2008.

Kimberley Cooper's choreography is perfectly matched to the intense, compelling, polyrhythmic music provided by Amon Tobin. The show takes as much of its inspiration from the new digital universes of video games and science-fiction as it does from the rich history and early roots of Jazz dance. The soundtrack was created by Amon Tobin from his celebrated music library and includes several powerful new and unreleased tracks. Alberta video artist David Hoffos will drape the stage and the show's strange cast of characters in eerie and magical illusions and special effects. The DJD dancers bring their incredible energy and verve to the production, their characters embellished by costumes created by Cooper's long-time collaborator, Vancouver clothing designer Natalie Purschwitz. Ontario lighting designer Kevin Lamotte was drawn to the production by his enthusiasm for Tobin's music and a renewed interest in lighting dance. He will carve the entire collection of epic dance vignettes from the darkness of the cavernous GRAND Theatre.

"This show has been brewing inside of me since the first time I heard Amon Tobin's music in 1998," says Cooper. "I finally managed to capture his attention and had an amazing experience working with him this summer in Montreal as he created a truly magical score for wowandflutter. Amon is a brilliant and internationally renowned musician whose music has appeared in films, commercials and video games. In addition to the collaboration with Amon Tobin, it is exciting to work with Sobey Art Award winner David Hoffos as he creates video elements that will be projected into the show."

Wowandflutter features dancers Sarisa Figueroa, Catherine Hayward, Laura Kleiner, Dinou Marlett Stuart, Ivan Nunez Sequi, Malika Srivastava, Kaleb Tekeste, and Deanne Walsh.

Wowandflutter plays at The GRAND Theatre from January 31 – February 10, 2008. Tickets are now on sale at Ticketmaster, by calling DJD at 245-3533, or by visiting www.decidedlyjazz.com.

DJD acknowledges the support of the Calgary Arts Development Authority (CADA), the Canada Council for the Arts, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Suncor Energy, and Swerve magazine.
