cheers to everyone who stepped out and got down for this north american leg of the tour. once again I'm left pretty dazzled. it was a bit of a gamble but we chose to forgot the visual element on all these shows and piss away our budget entirely on sound systems. judging by your feedback both in europe and US I'm very glad we did. it's been a bit special to say the least so once again thank you all for making it so. ps. a special thanks to mac and all the good people at the skywalker ranch for your hospitality at the lucas studios. you really should never have let me in... also for coming over to the dark side at SF mezzanine. here's some shot's from the phone (part 1):

so we've now been on the road for the first four weeks on this tour. a big thanks to all of you who came and made those European shows rock!! lots of love to the UK for making that night in London the best I've ever had there. quite unexpected and very memorable. cheers also for all of you at the shows in Paris, Vienna, Brussels and Budapest to mention a few. I don't think I've ever had such a wicked time playing in any of these places. needless to say this tour's been a pleasant surprise for all involved in putting it together, it's turning out to be quite an experience. got to send out an apology to the Rotterdam folk who were so patient in-spite of 'the man' making us turn the system down to a stupid level ten minutes into the show. thanks for making it such a cool night in spite of that. also sorry to the good people of Montpellier. I know I should have come back on and played some more but to be honest, it was the first show of the tour and I wasn't expecting to do encores at all and so i had nothing more with me to play. next time round I'll try to be better prepared. I've been trying to remember to take a pic with my phone during each gig. didn't get them all but here's some from various places. if you see yourself looking all fucked up, don't worry, it's just not a very good camera. and nude people, it's cool, I don't have pictures of you but kudos for being so expressive! very rock n' roll if a little distracting.. nice one! amon

LA PHIL PRESENTS SHADOW OF STALIN SPECIAL EVENT: PRAVDA RE-IMAGINES RUSSIAN CULTURE FOR LATE-NIGHT DJ AND VJ MULTI-MEDIA EVENT
Features Special Appearance by Ten-Piece Theremin Orchestra
SATURDAY, MAY 26, 10 PM – 3 AM Media Sponsor: KCRW
The Walt Disney Concert Hall will host an unprecedented event exploring the influence of political oppression on artistic expression during the Stalin era.
On Saturday, May 26, from 10 p.m. – 3 a.m., a line-up of DJs, VJs, artists and musicians converge at Walt Disney Concert Hall for PRAVDA - a progressive exploration of the sounds, sights, and philosophies of the Stalin era. Amon Tobin, Cut Chemist, DJ Spooky, J-Rocc, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Mumbles & Gone Beyond with special guests dublab soundsystem, collaborate to remix the music of Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Mosolov, complemented by improvised visuals from iconic Russian films, painting live onstage by Norton Wisdom, and mobile video projection produced by MC This. Film footage from Battleship Potemkin, Alexander Nevsky, The Cranes are Flying, and Soy Cuba, as well as rare clips from Russian documentaries, interviews, and propaganda films give a historical reference point against modern interpretations of Russian culture.
At midnight, Christoph Bull gives a special dramatic organ performance, and for the first time since Leon Theremin conducted the original ten Theremin Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in 1932, the concert is recreated with ten theremin players on the stage at Walt Disney Concert Hall. In celebration of the birthdate of the late Robert Moog, pioneer of this electronic instrument, the evening also features a special tribute to Moog, whose company is the leading manufacturer of theremins today.
Pravda also invites guests to experience Russian culture from different perspectives throughout Walt Disney Concert Hall. Lobby walls and white spaces display custom-created images; music is broadcast outside the main auditorium; and BP Hall becomes a multimedia discoteka for non-stop dancing into the late hours of the night.

Here is a note from Amon's Logbook at amontobin.com===== march 5, 2007 on leaked copies of foley room: well the debate about illegal downloads has obviously been raging for some time. some blame it for the crisis the music industry is currently facing, others herald this as a new utopian era for the consumer. contrary to the oversimplified views sighted by both ends of the spectrum I believe this to be a fairly complex issue with radically different implications for different artists and labels. with this in mind I see no point in entering into debate on the general issue here. nor would I consider it my place to tell people what they should or shouldn't do. all I can comment on with any certainty is how all this has affected me personally and in light of my nearing release this might be of interest to those of you who've expressed an interest in my music. over the last few months I've received a surprising amount of mail from people who'd downloaded 'foley room'. the comments are very positive and many encourage me to "keep on doing what you're doing" for which I am thankful. today, the release date for my album, it's unlikely that you will see it in most high street shops and after the initial run it's unlikely that you will be able to order a copy even from online stores. this is because in-spite of more people having access to and apparently listening to my music than ever before, the predicted sales of the record were so low that it didn't justify the manufacture or distribution to any significant level. strange? not when you consider how hard it might be to convince any retail outlet, physical or digital, that they should try and sell something everybody could already get for free months beforehand. so what does this mean in the wider context? who the fuck knows. like I say I won't speculate on the wider picture and you can draw your own conclusions as to what this means with regards to my own future output. again I stress that I'm not talking about what should happen here. I'm not saying I should be able to 'keep on doing what I'm doing' or even that my record deserves to be bought. all I'm saying, mainly for the benefit of those who might otherwise have been unaware, is that if you personally like what I do and wish to continue hearing more then the only way that will happen is if you support it.
