Peasant on Daytrotter

Check out Peasant's exclusive Daytrotter mp3's here: http://daytrotter.com/article/1507/peasant

"What becomes so beautifully clear in listening to Derose sing – in that clear mountain stream, weepy-voiced way of his – is that none of his characters and none of us are ever rid of any of the people that we've shared the dark or a kiss with."
- Daytrotter

A few short months ago, Peasant was given the great privilege of playing and recording for one of the most exclusive sessions that independent music knows.  And now the results of that dream have just gone live and are available for all to hear and see!  Daytrotter, who is known for having helped launch and provide a creative new media outlet for emerging indie-rock bands such as Death Cab For Cutie, Of Montreal, Vampire Weekend, Tokyo Police Club, Spoon, and A Place To Bury Strangers (just to name a few) recorded 4 of the best Peasant songs, 2 of which are brand new and unreleased in any other form.

Peasant also kicked off his current tour by heading to Clifton, NJ to a remote studio to record a few live tracks as well as an exclusive interview with the innovative new company, JamNow.  Check it out at Jamnow.com/peasant!

These sessions align themselves perfectly with Peasant's current tour (full tour dates below) and upcoming WOXY session, all leading into the official re-launch of Peasant's album, "On The Ground", out in late January with Team Love helping out with marketing and distribution.

Hey guys,
Long time since I've blogged. guess i've sort of just been taking in this whole album process. Going to SXSW... Austin is pretty "Crazy" for that event. Germany was a whole other kit and kaboodle. Really fun and very welcoming, i can't wait to go back. not to say i dont love AMERICA. YEAH! WOO! AMERICA! *ahem. but yeah, some nifty stuff has been going on with the songs off of On The Ground lately. I can't even begin to say how weird it was to watch a TV show, and hear one of my songs. I put the song up on the site just in case anyone wanted to add it to their page or listen to it.

Right now, I'm still planning stuff out to support the album, like a tour hopefully(us), at least on the east coast. Also I've been writing and recording new stuff for the future, really excited about that. feel free to message me about anything. i'm bored.

RAISE TODAY

what is there missing from me, that i see in you?
what can i say? what can i do for you?
i find myself trying each day, i want to grow up
what do i know? it seems that i can't force feeling

as everything's dancing around
a circle that i cannot see
and all the times slipping away
we try to remember the days
gathering all of the pictures we took
together and apart we will die
as everything's dancing around
just trying to stay on the ground

i find myself reaching tog rab, you away
feelings today, don't look away from me
and holding our hands out we'll grow, everyday
losing the way, no more alone we will stay

as everything's dancing around
a circle that i cannot see
and all the times slipping away
we try to remember the days
gathering all of the pictures we took
together and apart we will die
as everythngs dancing around
just trying to stay on the ground

I recorded the album with The Cobbs, 2 dudes from southhampton, who also happen to be in a band, an who are totally amazing producers. They even produced a Black Rebel Motorcycle album a couple years ago and yes, they are that cool too. They were too cool for me in fact, but they stooped to my peasant level and helped me make a record that sounds DANDY(I am also terrible at shakers).

So yeah, it looks like the record is coming out in February '07, on Paper Garden Records, and everything else is hazy.

Hey.
Damien here, writing from Amherst Coffee in Amherst MA, trying my best to keep the lid on tight. Slept in my car in Portland last night after a slightly inebriated and very fishy strollby the sea. Exciting. Before that was Burlington, a green town where i spend a few days on my friends upcoming commune. Capped it off with a banjo ditty for the woodlands. Yes i now own a 1920's tenor banjo, i look forward to sharing my scrawlings with you.

so the drives are really crazy, but just short enough so i can get some good sleep in between. this is good because i started out almost sick, but somehow i pulled out of the rool and i'm alright now.

i've had some amazing pleasures so far, Montreal I think was the finest so far, i can't wait to come back, popfest was super duper. and the afterparty was enthralling, some great musicians in that city no doubt.

so so so, on to south vermont and cambridge tommorrow, but tonight it's the Flywheel show, which is sure to be a doozy, i just hope i can keep standing after a day full of coffee and dozing.

laaazy wednesday.

love to everyone, hope it's returned, life can be hard on the inside but we still need to hold our weight.

Everytime something happens to me I think I pay attention to it. I guess I miss some things and probably work hard not to, but sometimes life just seems normal enough so it doesn't even matter.

newayz

I am going on tour thursday, headed up to Montreal in The Great White North. I am looking forward to playing at Les Minots, whatever that MEANS. Harrumph. and I am more than happy to get out of this town. ps. grammar is a mistake.

anything else i could think of isn't as important as that. i put up a silly MUSIC VIDEO. a mistake i know. i made it myself, it's ludicrous. but anyway, there it is, something to get done laughing about before you see me again.

so i'll see you in your city? if it's possible? please come out, but only if you're ready to sit back and really relax into something that you won't have control over. but i really invite you to come out and give what i make a chance, in person, and i'll be glad to have you there and hang out after the show or whatever. i hope my tour is fun.

thanks
