Current mood:  disgusted
tonight, rich and i watched the debates at our rafter and olivia's house. right before tuning in, livy caught us up on a gruesome turn of event: republican supporters, engrossed in this brainwashing machine of a campaign, have been shouting dangerous inanities toward barack obama. you know what they are, but maybe the republicans don't know, because they haven't addressed them yet.
so i wrote them a little note tonight. it went like this:
    To whom this may concern,
i am a registered republican and i have been absolutely appalled by the recent behavior of some of my fellow mccain supporters. chanting 'kill him' or 'terrorist' about barack obama is not constructive, in fact, it is destructive. it's the absolutely classless type of behavior that makes other nations think of us as barbarians. i am ashamed that the party has made no widespread declarations condemning these atrocious statements, and i am sad to say that if nothing is done shortly, and by that i mean in a timely manner, i will be forced to withdraw my support to this campaign. and i am not the only one feeling this way. i will never side with any party standing idly by, while gratuitous violence - even verbal - is being enacted.

i lied. so fucking what?
loved ones, isn't this sad?
try to have a good night though.
ps: i can't believe i actually visited the mccain/palin web site. blurg.

Current mood:  aroused
we went to the city twice this week. both times were to die for.
on thursday night, after work, rich and i took the prius flying to the bay to see our good friends anderson congress play with ralph youtz (OMG!!).
on the way down, we listened to barrack obama's speech and i cried the entire time. someone later told me they would never cry listening to a political speech, to which i answered it was anything but a political speech. for fuck's sake. it was also the anniversary of martin luther king's i have a dream speech, and just the sheer thought of that send chills up my spine.
and on top of that, the sunset looked like this:

maybe you or some of the people you love say you don't like politics... sure, i can understand that, it's mostly boring men in costumes talking nonsense. but don't you sometimes think back of the '50s and '60s and say to yourself, "wow, people really changed things, back then." if people hadn't cared back then, can you imagine that richard and i wouldn't be married now... we're not any different today, except we're lazier and nothing brings tears to our eyes anymore.

enough said

the show was mind blowing. no, no. it was better.
first, it was full of good people and old friends who give mad hugs. then richard and ralph started talking (i talked to him too, it pretty much all sounded like "khgkhgsdfvbjnas"). then the show started. maybe you don't know this about your french friend, but one of my favorite songs in the world is dearling darling by the feelings. before singing the song, ralph - who is from the feelings, by the way - said, "this song is by the band richard really likes," then, of course, he went into the most beautiful rendition of the song. ok. do you see how that could be the kind of thing that makes you jump up and down: one of your favorite artists dedicating one of your favorite songs to your favorite person in the world.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
that's ralph playing, and that's the men's room of the bar. yes.

lastly, yesterday, we went back to san francisco (i guess we don't get tired of it) to meet with my beautiful french girl maeva, whom i've known for 15 years. we had the loveliest time.
Photobucket
maeva and i at sunset on the golden gate bridge.

voila. for real news, i'll say that i am back to work at my former company. i'm super thankful to have found a job right away. yay for good happenings.
so, i hear the summer is almost over, at least in people's mind. that doesn't mean you can't live it up, loved ones. so go do it!

Current mood:  amorous
so after a million (amazing) years of being together, richard and i went camping together for the first time. this is what we/it looked like:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

we went to dillon's beach. it seemed like everyone and their gigantic trucks wanted to agglutinate in one area, like a colony of metallic mushrooms. but rich and i and set camp away from everyone and incredibly close to the water. in the night, when the tide was high, it felt like we were shrouded in fog and water. it was splendid.

my dearest loved ones,
please, please, please, do yourself a favor, if you ever go to paris, be there for the first day of summer! the birds sing a pretty song and there's always music in the air. i've never been more literal, actually. it's the national day of music (yeah, france actually has such a day), and thusly, there are performers at every corner. we danced in the streets in the warm night and it was bliss and marvel rolled into one splendid day.

chronologically:
PhotobucketPhotobucket
"europe is not an american colony", place de la republique, 10 arr., and a poor dazed soul, rue du temple, 3 arr. - afternoon.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
these feet walked and danced all day, and these girls need a rest (taken by delphine, and in the picture, my marie) montmartre, 18 arr.- night. (fun fact: the picture in my hand is the picture on the left.)

PhotobucketPhotobucket
this guy said his name was shady (i believe him, whatever, he was a doll all the same), and people dancing atop of things, montmartre, 18 arr. - late, late.

i'm in the country now. it's peaceful. polas to prove it soon.
love, love, oh! tons of it.

me: "ok, then... have a good night."

so, darlings, i am leaving today. i am at my in-laws who came to rescue me in sacramento after a really tough morning. but i am feeling incredibly better now. you know, i really had a fun week with you dolls. see you in a month. until then, i hope you enjoy the sweetest summer ever, with fun and more fun, and also some sun.
