Why you should vote for Mr. Toad
Mr. Toad is a one year old 8lb mix. He has been through lot in his little life. A very inhumane person took his eye sight from him. He ended up at the local human society and was going to be euthanized. But a caring person pulled him out and called Second Chance Rescue to come and get him. They rushed over and got Mr. Toad and brought him to me to foster care. Mr. Toad slept for 2 days straight. On the third day he came alive.
Even though Mr. Toad has had a bad start in life. He is always happy and full of enthusiasm. He loves to walk everyday, hike on trails, go off roading in the jeep and loves greeting people.
The vet said for a little guy that has been thru so much in such a short time. He is so loving and trusting.
I hope you vote for Mr. Toad, he can show the world how to over come anything that is handed to you. And he will be able to give back to those that gave him the life he now deserves. He deserves your vote!

Please take a moment and look at the dogs that are up for adoption.

I know that there is one here just for you and your family. Some of these dogs have been thru a lot. And yet they come to you with open hearts and willing to trust again. My rescued dogs have made our life much more enjoyable. They never grow tired of me talking, watching movies, or just singing. Walking is much nicer with a dog going with you. On days I don't want to walk, I am encourage by the rescued dogs because they get so excided that it makes me want to walk them. I never grow tired of them playing together, curling up next to me, them be happy with just the simple things in life (a little treat, pat on the hea..) or the way they greet me when I get home.

All and all please take the time to at least meet a rescue dog. I promise it is worth your time and effort. And you maybe able to find more then just a dog. You will be able to find a great friend. Carla

THE SAD TRUTH ABOUT CHIHUAHUAS!

Last night, Disney Studios hosted the premiere of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, the story of Chloe, a well-heeled Beverly Hills Chihuahua, who finds herself lost in Mexico and in need of assistance in order to get back home. The release of this movie has caused much concern in the humane community. Many animal lovers recall the fallout from the movie 101 Dalmatians. Many allege that that movie resulted in the over breeding of Dalmatians by backyard breeders and puppy mills, which then led to many shelters across the nation being overrun with unwanted Dalmatians.
LA Animal Services wants Chihuahua-lovers to know that, if Beverly Hills Chihuahua increases demand for the increasingly popular breed, LA's Animal Care Centers are the perfect places to find and adopt a great Chihuahua. The movie itself is a testimonial to the quality of shelter Chihuahuas – at least two of the movie's canine stars were adopted from public shelters in Southern California shortly before they were scheduled to be euthanized.
If you're looking for a Chihuahua, LA's shelters are THE place to go. Nearly 12% (2,550) of all dogs (21,660) taken in by LA Animal Services since January 1, 2008, are Chihuahuas. Chihuahuas are second only to pit bulls (4,541) as the most often impounded lost or homeless dog breed in Los Angeles. At 14% (1,642) of all dogs adopted (11,513) from LA Animal Care Centers since the beginning of the year, Chihuahuas are second to no other dog breed as LA's most popular. Pit bulls follow at 12% (1,472).
Sadly, not all lost Chihuahua stories end as happily as Chloe's. Chihuahuas are the third most euthanized dog breed in City shelters at 6%, following pit bulls at 45% and German Shepherds at 11%.
"We want to make sure the number of all animals dying in our shelters is going down and not up," said Ed Boks, general manager of LA Animal Services. "One way we can further reduce our euthanasia rate is to educate the public on the sources of animals in pet stores and newspaper ads. If you can't shake the hand of the breeder and see where the animals are bred, then beware. Don't shop, when you can adopt!"

we would like to say that Chelsea and Brian did a great job with the deliver. Chelsea you where so strong and where able to do it all with any pain meds. Your a tough cookie.
