"Over the Mountaines" from a gig a couple of days ago in the Kloosterbibliotheek Wittem, a Monastry Libary in the small dutch town Wittem. An amazing venue, which is encircled with huge wooden staircases and bookshelves. We had played there last year and were looking forward to going back......

Three video reminiscences from our gig at the East Finchley Arts Festival last wednesday evening...... It was a cold, rainy & tempestuous night, but we were safe and sound under the stunning timber ceiling of All Saints Church in East London. We had a great time and our special thanks go out to our faithful concert agent Jill Davies, the festival Director Geoffrey Hanson, all of his team and to the festivals president Dame Emma Kirkby for gracing us with her presence.

As
not only the most keen eyed amongst you will have noticed, Pantagruel
have a new singer - Anna Maria Wierød.
We first heard of her on an
April Sunday morning, while consuming delicious pancakes in the kitchen
of a friend of ours Lee Santana, lutenist extraordinaire
and teacher at the Hochschule
für Künste in Bremen. Between gushes of maple syrup and
some very crispy bacon we were explaining the recent
departure of
our previous prima donna, whose attempts to strive towards an opera
career had
brought Pantagruel to an almost complete standstill for the past 2
years. But as fate would have it, Lee suggested we get in touch with
this amazing Danish student,
who not only had an amazing voice but also the attitude and stamina
that you need to do what we are up to!
So a couple of weeks later we got
together with Anna Maria for an audition, which was a pretty brief
affair, as it was almost immediately clear that she was THE ONE. So it
was then off to the pub to start making plans and there was an awful
lot to plan, rehearsals, getting a new dress made, a photo shooting,
demo recordings, etc.
The
big unveiling came last month on
a pretty crazy weekend - 2 concerts, a photo shooting and recording a television report for NDR
about the making of Anna’s dress all in less than 36
hours!!!!!
