Here is what I think is going on with the Zombie thing vs. Vampires:

Vampires prey on humans. Humans get to fight Zombies and mess them up.

We the people need positive re-inforcement--not further confirmation of our powerlessness.

This is why Vampires will play out, and Zombies will come back into fashion---because we know as a collective that we gotta  pull it together, so we quickly tire of everyone depicting us as weak. We now more than ever need to see ourselves as able to 'battle' our troubles and not simply be at their mercy.

My humble opinon. Since I am one of the poster children for the whole Zombie culture, I may be biased.  : )
Thoughts.....?
Sorry--I typed this out super quick so it's not my usual eloquence. ..(snorts)

Meanwhile---have fun out there and don't take any crap!

Thought I'd share something that I have framed and hanging over my desk. Hope you find it inspiring, too---
Risks
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to appear sentimental.
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas, your ideals, your dreams
before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the greatest
hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing
has nothing and is nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but
the cannot learn, feel, change, love, grow, or live.
Chained by their certitudes they are a slave.
They have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
I don't know who the author is, but if you do, please post their name in a comment.
Peace,
Kelli <3

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you. (I didn't do that last part. I didn't have the heart to saddle anyone with this, so you didn't get tagged, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to know more about you.)

1. I have a hard time writing about myself, especially on the internet. I probably have the personality of a writer without the writing habit.
2. It's hard for me to get through a whole day without Jolly Ranchers or Smoothies, which are like Necco wafers but tastier. I only buy the Neccos in the all chocolate package.
3. I probably only like to have my hair long because when I was little my mother always chopped it off to my chin and cut my bangs really short.
4. I'm a hopeless romantic when I am inspired, which isn't very often, but when I meet the right person I am totally mushy and starry-eyed.
5. I love the music of the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Okay, the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, too.
6. I absolutely love getting all dressed up. There aren't enough occasions though where you don't end up overdressed. I've always been this way.
7. I'm fascinated with sprituality and philosophy.
8. I hate texting and pretty much refuse to do it. If it isn't important enough to call and leave a message, I just forget it. If someone texts me, the best I will return with is: ok.
9. I haven't travelled nearly enough and would really love to see the rest of the world.
10. I eat a lot of organic, healthy food, but I really love hot dogs, mac and cheeze, grilled cheeze, pizza and ice cream.
11. I always thought I would have children, but, based on results so far, I guess I really didn't want to have kids after all.
12. For a long time I didn't think I could make it in the "real world" and that I just got lucky enough to be in the entertainment industry because I couldn't do anything else. Then I learned a few things that I could do to function in the 'RW' but I realized that, although I could survive doing them, it wasn't worth it. :)
13. My first job was in a diner called The High Hat.
14. I really wish I could sing. I'd love to be a good singer.
15. Romantic goth is probably my favorite style of decor.
16. I am attracted to smart, bookworm type guys.
17. My eyesight isn't the greatest and even though I had lasic eye surgery I still have to wear those drugstore eye glasses to read.
18. Almost every movie makes me cry or at least tear up at some point.
19. Even though I started out in Daytime TV and ended up in Cult films, I started out training for classical theatre. That still seems really weird to me.
20. I respect people who never give up and people who don't abandon their ideals and stay true to their vision.
21. If I had a choice of having my ultimate career or having a happy relationship, I would pick the happy relationship. Of course, I really hope it isn't one or the other. But if it is, it isn't much of a choice.
22. My mother passed away over 10 years ago but I stil think of her every single day.
23. I have no tattoos or peircings other than my ears.
24. Being by the ocean is like being in church to me.
25. I did this dang list because I thought it would be a good excercise. I duuno if it rocked my world, but I did get to 25. :)

I had a great time in Minneapolis at the Crypticon convention last weekend. One of the sweetest things was that they gave me a basket of delicious homemade cookies. So many that I was giving them away, and a couple of convention goers asked me if I made them--kind of confusing, but fun. On Sunday there was even a little snow flurry. Yeay!

I also got to meet some 'fan'tastic folks, and other celebs who I have admired, like Doug Jones, James Duval, Chris Sarandon, The Cryptkeeper, and many more. (I just realized that if I started listing people this blog would get out of control, and I wanted it to be short!) There are pics in my photo album, if you'd like to check them out. I really need to learn how to add them to the blog, I know.

In my last blog, I mentioned the HBO True Blood webpage and how it seemed like they listened to the fans. When I got back home I found this link in my inbox, along with the suggestion that I post it on Myspace, so here it is:

Thank you so much! This kind of thing always touches me, and inspires me more than you can imagine. In these uncertain times, it always helps to have that extra support.

You never know when a little effort will make a huge impact in someone else's life. It's shocking, because often you won't even remember doing or saying it, but it turned someone else's life around. Remembering that, my theme for this week, and hopefully this life, is--Just Serve. God, kindness, love, the highest good, whatever you want to call it--I think we can't go wrong if that is our intention. Wish me luck.  :)
Blessings,

Kelli

If you are anywhere near the Twin Cities, I hope you'll come to the Rosedale Radisson Hotel this coming weekend for a funtastic Horror Convention, CRYPTICON! I will be flying in from Los Angeles tomorrow, and will be there until Sunday evening--I look forward to meeting all my 'home slices.'

I realize that I haven't blogged in awhile and I will do better from now on, I swear. I usually try to stay out of politics because I know everyone gets tired of actors pontificating and spouting their opinions, but on the other hand, it's important to me. Most people reading this probably know how I feel about things, anyway. The sublime and the ridiculous = the Obama victory, but the passing of Prop 8 out here in CA. in the same election???!!!??

Long story short, I am attached to six films that all need financing. Raise your hand if you feel like putting a ton of money into an independent film right now, in this financial climate?...Uh-huh, I thought not. But I always figure, 'Don't ask; don't get,' right? So I continue to help seek out investors.

One thing I've finally learned is that all good things come to those who are patient, think positively, and stay prepared. So, I hope you all are doing that, too, no matter what your projects are or what stage they are in right now. One more thing worth mentioning, is to try not to take these times TOO PERSONALLY. It's a waste of time and precious energy to take any snags we hit during these times as an opportunity to start picking ourselves apart, and worrying that there is something the matter with us. It's fine to always strive to be even better, but many times it's more productive to be realistic when things aren't happening in our preferred time frame, if you know what I mean. It's hard for me, as the teen who blew into NYC and snagged a soap opera role in two weeks flat without an agent, to accept that while things don't always manifest THAT quickly, I have to keep the faith that they WILL happen, albeit more gradually. And with a lot more elbow grease.

As for TRUE BLOOD, I have heard nothing further than what I was told when I did episode 3--that I would possibly recur, and if so, next season. When I know anything more, I sure won't keep it a secret. I wouldn't be upset if you wrote in and insisted that I return, if you feel so moved. But, either way that goes is okay with me.

I have terrific managers, Bohemia Entertainment Group, and PTI Talent for commercials, and I am remiss in not blogging about that development! They are patient,down-to-earth, level-headed, focused and determined, and I am thankful.

I am feeling very good about just about everything. This Thanksgiving I am definitely counting my blessings and invite you to comment about something that you feel especially grateful for at this time. Could be a big deal or a little deal. Often it's the smaller things that mean the most, and I think it's good to slow down and notice them. Go!

Blogdicking encouraged, if you are so inclined.

I still can't get over it that all these years later, a blog about almost anything I am doing can be titled with a line from Night of the Comet--a movie I did a couple of decades ago. Oh well---this is what Reg says to Hector when he's leaving us in the radio station to find out what has happened to his family. She asks him if he's coming back, and he asks her what she'll give him if he does. The scene plays really sweetly, especially considering the other ways those lines could have been delivered, now that I look at them. Kudos to Cathy and Robert! And if this doesn't make any sense to you, it's really okay. It's a cult film. In it, we play two sisters who, along with a few other hapless individuals, end up to be the last folks on Earth. Yeah, it's camp, but we had fun making it.

I'm on my way to Dallas, TX. tomorrow for the Texas Frightmare Weekend.  http://www.texasfrightmareweekend.com/lifetype/static/guests.html  It's exciting-first thing off the plane I'm headed to a screening of Night Of The Living Dead and a party afterwards. The next day we will all be signing from 5-10 P.M., and then I am apparently doing a commentary with writer/director Jim Wynorski for a film I was in called CHOPPING MALL. Then signing all day on Saturday, too, from 11-5.  I have to come back to Los Angeles that evening, but there's a big celebrity party that night and then MORE convention on Sunday. It's a huge event and I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone. Please make it down if you are in the area, y'all!

How sickening it would be if I came back to LA with a Texas accent, like some people tend to do upon returning from England with a British one?  NOT happening, no worries. (I mean, I can do one for a role, but I won't walk around  pretending like it rubbed off on me and now I speak that way.)

Then later on this Spring I'm going to get to be a presenter for the Saturn Awards. They are like the Academy Awards  for Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror. When I was a kid I got to present a Daytime Emmy for Best Documentary and I haven't gotten over it yet. I am so excited that I keep asking them, "Am I still a presenter?" I must quit that, immediately.  Ahem...And The Nominees Are:  Click here: WB, Paramount dominate Saturns - Entertainment News, Award Central News, Media - Variety

Congratulations to everyone on MySpace who had  a WGA Strike support picture on their profile picture for all of  those 100 days. I had all the strike supporter profiles that I could find lined up on my "top friends" list on my page so that it looked like a picket line. I take my hat off to all of you. You had the tenacity to hang tough. Salute!

I'm taking my camera with me to Dallas, so I hope to have some great photos from the convention. I'm challenged that way, but perhaps I can find a couple of people to assist and get some decent shots. Fingers crossed.

Don't smell anything from strangers,

Kelli <3
